  • I don't think that keiko's release was a complete failure, but I also don't think it was a complete success. I do think we can learn from it and learn how to rehabilitate and release orcas better.

  • @GAClaire looks like someone forgot to Google "seapen". You idiotic, arrogant, ignorant pro-caps make me laugh. Perhaps the word "seapen" was too hard for you to spell.

  • FFO, I love you girl. Oh and just a little fun fact for ya, a few years ago SeaWorld parks alone made an outrageous amount of money, (can't remember the actually profit made sorry) yet only 0.08% of it went to conservation of wild cetaceans.

  • @krazyface123 - Thanks! Generally they make about $1.2 billion per year, and yes... very little of it (less than 1%) goes to conservation efforts!

  • do you expect people to believe you/?? none of this is true. if you put the orcas in the ocean, they WILL die. SeaWorld does ALOT for the environment. i think you should do your research, before you go trashing seaworld.

  • i totally agree!! i get that ALL THE TIME because no one believes how horrific seaworld is... but most pro-caps refuse to see how stupid they are. selfish and ignorant people...

  • Captivity is not the best thing, we all know that, but it is not as dramatic as you put it. -- No harm intended. I agree that capturing the orcas way back when was a horrible thing and honestly, I wish it wasn't done, but it did happen, and this is where we all stand.

Captivity is not a killer. End.Of.Story.

Sorry I am posting this on your anti-cap video, but I just wanted to share my opinion.

  • @littlewolflover - lol this video is deliberately dramatic (that's the whole point, it's just poking fun), and I thank you for your input, however I have to disagree with your 'captivity is not a killer' comment. A lof of captive orca deaths are directly related to the fact that they are in captivity (Kanduke, Taima, Kalina, Kandu, to name a few). But thanks anyway :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas Thanks for being sincere with me lol. :) And I see your argument, and I can see where you're coming from, but I will always support SW no matter what the circumstances! But anyways, thanks for your sincirety! ;)

  • Well compared to lolita's seaworlds is larger but the ocean is best! And orcas can and sometimes do like human companionship ex- Luna. Sadly people killed him. But also they can kill you but you made it soud like they were cold blooded murder's. I'm for both wild and captive only for good reason's on the captive part.

  • i was a stupid blind kid when i was young then the film The Cove opened my eyes so yeah i wanted to be an orca trianer when i herd one of em at sea world died by an orca but still i love em and there cool but i think no matter what them orcas are goanna be the masters of predators of the ocean. PS: im goin to be a marine biologist

  • What program did you use to make this slideshow and how did you edit it?

  • @reefwanter - I used iMovie on a Mac in conjunction with Photoshop because iMovie sucks... DON'T GET IT. I recommend Final Cut or Sony Vegas.

  • I disagree with:

7, how do you know if the orcas don't like to preform, not saying they do ethier but they show it if they don't want to

6, I believe its possible for a bond to form but none of us will really know till we actualy see the bond outside the shows, and your reasoning could use a bit more

3, Never ruin some ones dream, it's not your place too, and there is never and excuse, and your reasoning looks like you don't care about people

2, How the hell do you know, have you been

    1,

  • @SeaLife357 I have been to Seaworld. Twice. And when I did visit Seaworld, I went to the "Shamu Show". Every time a kid would get picked to "command" the poor orca, they had the exact reaction and performance as the kid before them received. I would say that that is pretty conclusive evidence suggesting that the "connection" is formed by the human mind wanting to feel attached and special in a monotonous animal performance. And, next time, use proper grammar when trying to prove a point.

  • @SeaLife357 well think about it like this, if you were a dirt biker and you were in a stadium and you had to perform 5 times a day every single day for your entire life would you enjoy it? also, performing earns them food, that's how sw trains their whales. sure, orcas and humans can likely form a bond but not to the point where the orca enjoys having it's entire life controlled by humans.

  • @SeaLife357 cont. never ruin someone's dream? so i guess if john wilkes booth said it was his dream to kil lincoln, that'd be just fine. look i've been to seaworld, she's been to austrailia's seaworld once. there is no connection. it's all part of the illusion. to make people keep coming back, to get more money. and as for conservation, really? if seaworld does so much for conservation, why haven't they released a single orca?

  • @FishStickOnAStick First off I would just like to say that when it comes to orcas and SW I'm nethier Pro or Anti. There is only two shows a day, with the excveption of the peak season when there is about five consisting of the day shows and the night shows. As to the bond and control, there is numerous filmed examples of the fact the orcas don't always listen, multiple times Tillkum ended a show becasue he decided not to do what the traniers asked.

  • @SeaLife357 i'm sorry. i didn't realize you were neutral.

  • @FishStickOnAStick its fine, I enjoy these discussions. It helps me see both sides and it helps with a project I'm working on

  • @FishStickOnAStick cont. as for the dream part it's my opinion that your argument is diffrent then what I meant, killing someone as a dream is disturbing. What I meant was that if someone wants to follow a certian career path then it's up to them and it's extremely rude and disrespectful to ruin that dream. As for the last comment, because the orcas are a extremely large sorce of revenue. But SW has done alot for conservation, other then orcas.

    Looking forward to your response.

  • I liked the "Boo. Freakin. Hoo." part, lol :) But you're right, pro- caps do say these things on a daily basis. I see both sides, but some people just don't have a firm grasp on reality. It's amusing sometimes :P

  • Sorry for all the bs I said before about SW, you're right :)

  • @cefurst1 - lol.... I suspect a trap.... ¬–¬

  • @FreedomForOrcas No, seriously, I'm pretty much completely anticap...

  • @cefurst1 You're anticap...yet, you say you want to be a marine mammal trainer? I mean, nothing wrong with it, I'm procap, but just wondering :3

  • your reasoning at 1:20 - uhh , Ironic don't you think ?. . . Keiko . Google it .

  • @anythingforkalina - Wow uhhh... video = sarcastic. Trolled. Google it.

  • Con't-- Say what you want but I am the MOST stubborn person ever and you will not be able to change my mind.

  • @Hanyahgm13 - Then why bother commenting here?

  • I never said he beached himself for no reason, I just didn't state why I thought he beaches himself. Before he was found beached with Pneumonia (which I guess either could have come first. I don't think anybody knows the complete truth about which came first) it said he was acting weird and wasn't eating and things like that. I'm assuming he, at that point, was scared, unsure, and hated where his life had been going so he beached himself to end it.

  • @Hanyahgm13 - Um, we do know the complete truth about which came first. Autopsy report showed that he had suffered with the illness for a few days prior (hence why he wasn't eating, was lethargic etc). Orcas do not just "beach" themselves because they "hate life". A lot of orcas get sick, and most cetaceans, as a way to avoid being eaten by other predators, will beach themselves. Not because they are depressed and want to "end it all".

  • @LetsGoAllegro - Hate to break it to you, but you got trolled. Bad. LOL.

That is the point everyone brings up. This video is a JOKE, and NOT meant to be taken seriously. Everyone who legitimately believes that any of this is true, or an argument, deserves to be laughed at and ridiculed. Now go comment on my actual argumentative videos if you're looking for a debate.

  • I really don't wanna waste my time arguing with you but I obviously must as you are clearly misinformed. I was under the impression he contracted pneumonia BECAUSE he beached himself. True he might have been sick beforehand but because he beaches himself he contracted pneumonia and then died.

  • @Hanyahgm13 - Why would he beach himself for no reason? That's just stupid. No. Keiko contracted pneumonia first. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. You can admit that you're wrong, and we can move on from there. Otherwise, you are the close-minded one stuck in your stubborn little ways.

  • Just so you know I did do my research, I don't go into full blown arguments without it and you, missy, have quite a few facts wrong! Keiko was only in the real wild for about 2-4 years not 6! Also here's a quote from the Keiko website- "With little warning, Keiko beached himself and died in the early evening local time." He BEACHES HIMSELF. You have no right to say I didn't do my research.

  • @Hanyahgm13 - You clearly only pick and choose what you like to use as an argument. I said "he survived outside his concrete jungle", meaning he wasn't in a tank and thrived for 6 years. He was actually in the WILD alone for only ONE year, and if you did your research properly, you'd of known that.

Secondly, he died from PNEUMONIA. Yes, this caused him to beach himself, but that wasn't the CAUSE of his death. Most cetaceans will beach themselves when they are sick, Keiko is no exception.

  • Guess what, Orcas can't be released into the wild once they've been in captivity. Keiko was, he ended up beaching and killing himself. Lovely let's put all the orcas into 'seapens' (which is basically a cage anyways) so they can beach and kill themselves! YAY! And guess what, Orcas and dolphins can commit suicide. If they didn't like their situation, they'd all be dead. Obviously you don't do your research.

  • @Hanyahgm13 - GUESS WHAT I already know that story, and you have it ALL wrong. Keiko survived outside his concrete jungle for SIX YEARS. In one year, he traveled thousands of miles, hunted for himself, socialised with other orcas. It was only after he arrived in a fjord where people started HARASSING him. Despite government warnings, people continued to try and swim with him, so he was moved to a safer location. It was here where he contracted PNEUMONIA, a common illness, and sadly died....

  • @Hanyahgm13 - CONT'D... And how does an orca "beach" itself in a goddam seapen? Are you actually stupid? There isn't a beach for them to beach themselves ON. Gawd. I can't comprehend the level of stupidity in this comment.

Secondly, a seapen allows orcas to live in LARGER, more natural enclosures, it enables them to use their echolocation (which is inhibited in a tank), and provides much more stimulation than a tank setting EVER could. This is fact. You, little girl, need to do some research.

  • Btw, the thing about it being someones dream, saying "Boo. Freakin. Hoo" to someones dream/ passion is something not to be taken lightly...idk what anyones dream is, but if they have a true passion for it, I support it...

  • @cefurst1 Thumbs up to you =) Someone told me that about my obsession with programming or drumming, I'd keel em. >-> xD

  • @OrcasFTWman - Does your obsession with programming or drumming involve destroying wild orca pods, pushing certain pods to the brink of extinction, forcing them to adapt to a small, sensory deprived life in a tank only to spend their entire, short-lived blip of an existence amusing crowds for dead fish?

If not, then you have nothing to worry about :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas Well the extinction of my feet and arms due to tendinitis and arthritis, deprived to live in a small room by myself and my set, and short living my band to play for crowds for maybe a hundred dollars just to have them talk crap about me. It's the way of life.

  • @OrcasFTWman - But see, you CHOSE that life for yourself! You cannot accurately compare what you chose for yourself to an orca, that has absolutely no say in the matter. Did they have a choice when they were rounded up with explosives, bombs and nets? Did they have a choice when they were forcibly separated from their parents? No, they did not. The only choice they have now is "to perform, or not to perform."

What a wonderful, exciting life :V

  • @FreedomForOrcas Freedom...we can't change what's already happened. It's life, and shit happens in life. What happens to orcas...how they get there. Is MEANT to happen. We shouldn't question it. :L

  • @OrcasFTWman - lol call me Gwen.

I disagree completely, sorry. If nobody questioned anything, SeaWorld would never stop capturing wild animals. It's because of us "crazy antis" and people with hearts that stopped these wild captures in the first place. Because people spoke out and said enough is enough! It wasn't meant to happen, it just did, and I'm sad it did. Almost 200 orcas have died in captivity since those captures began. 200 lives wasted.

  • @FreedomForOrcas It's LIFE Gwen. People and animals die, but life goes on. That's how we're made. None of us live forever. They were going to die in captivity or not in captivity. If it's their time to go, it's their time to go. So what if they capture them? Humans also captured dogs, birds, cats, and all kinds of animals. Should we let them go too?

  • @OrcasFTWman - So if I went and killed someone, would that be just "life"? It doesn't have to be that way. The choices we make affect others, and there is no denying that. The choices we made in the past affected those orcas, and we could've changed them if we wanted. We don't have to visit SeaWorld if we don't support what they do. Every choice has a consequence. Every action has an opposite and equal reaction. We are in control, and we control our choices. That gives us the power to do good.

  • @FreedomForOrcas It would be just life. Life is like a comic book, with the next page you don't know where you'd be at. And we have the choice for anything...but because of one death, does NOT mean that we're all gona suddenly heave over and die. And yeah we have the power to do good. Do we always? No I didn't think so. :P

  • @OrcasFTWman - I'm a little bit confused as to what you're saying. So you're saying that we have no control over the horrible things we did to orcas, but it's just "life" and that they should deal with it?

That pretty much goes against all conservation efforts worldwide that has ever been undertaken in the history of mankind lol.

  • @FreedomForOrcas Well. I'm a different being. I have more to say then just doing what's "right" to some people...everyone's opinionated. -_-

  • your stupid you know that right :)

  • @Believe13at - Personal attacks will get you nowhere my dear! And I refuse to get into a battle of wits with an unarmed person ;)

  • @Believe13at - ALSO.... it's *you're, not your. Good luck ;)

  • @FreedomForOrcas lol... i didn't even write that. My sister checks out my account once in a while I"m guessing she wrote that.

  • @FreedomForOrcas btw the 10 stupid things anti-caps say is posted enjoy XD

  • @Believe13at - I enjoyed it xD

You can add it as a video response if you want :P

  • Just so you know, the assholes over on SeaWorld orlando's facebook page are really tearing into this video and you. (I dont know if the personal stuff they are posting about you is true or not but it's not nice) They are planning a call out response video called '10 stupid things anti-caps say'. they say it will be posted in a few days.

  • @elfwhitewave Yes it will. I happen to be one of those 'ass holes'.

  • @ShamuKid I already know you're an asshole thanks I dont need to be told.LOL

  • @hateseaworld Well I wasent talking to you so what ev :)

  • @elfwhitewave - lol I look forward to it. Not that I actually care or anything. I should let them know that I'm happy to take video responses to this video lol

  • @FreedomForOrcas really? go to the beach to see Orcas? I live by the beach, never have I seen an Orca at the beach. Get your facts straight.

  • @slickbejack - lol, this isn't a factual video, dumbass. This is a big, fat joke. But I guess you couldn't help but get butthurt and take everything literally. LMFAO

  • All of the whales at SeaWorld were born there. If they were put in the wild they would die. SeaWorld doesn't even capture Orcas anymore, all of the Orcas there now were born there. I want to see where you found that they live shorter lives in captivity, cause that's a lie.

Have you ever been to SeaWorld? If not, don't go on complaining about it via youtube cause you have NO idea what its like.

  • @slickbejack - Haha, you told me to get MY facts straight? Yes, SOME of the orcas were born in captivity. Not all. Or did Tillikum magically become a captive born, despite being captured in Iceland? What about Corky II?Ulises? Katina? Or did you just forget about them? Seems like you need to get YOUR facts straight, before you come mouthing off like a know it all and make yourself look completely retarded. Good day, kind sir!

  • You must think your a smart ass huh? Grow up.

  • @ShamuKid - :D

  • Comment removed

  • @ShamuKid - lol, how can I have stolen anything? All m videos are of me. Unless you own the image of my face. Which I doubt. I call your bluff.

  • Comment removed

  • @ShamuKid - I generally tend to be nice to people who are nice to me. Even people who have made personal hate groups about me, sent me abusive messages on facbeook, hotmail, youtube, you name it. They send me a nice message and I am nice back. You get what you give, is that a problem?

Notice that not a single one of my videos is a personal attack on someone. Nope. I have never, EVER personally attacked anyone. Yet I have been personally attacked many times.....

  • @ShamuKid - cont'd.....

Also, concerning the whole "stealing videos" thing, I would love to stick around and chat about it, however i'm really in no mood to discuss something that, truthfully, has nothing to do with me. It's merely me being in the wrong place in the wrong time.

If you are interested in hearing my side of the story, by all means, send me a personal message and i'd be more than happy to explain it to you.

  • @ShamuKid - Have you blocked me or something, because I can't even send you a message :S

  • @FreedomForOrcas Hmmm nope. Feel free to send me an email at shamukid@gmail.com

  • @ShamuKid - Thanks, i've sent you an email, it's pretty long though, sorry!

  • Brilliant! Very well done! SW needs to set an example, when people think about dolphin shows SW is what springs to mind first. It's time they did something for conservation, they could be whale conservation central of the world and be hailed hero's for it. They'd still make a packet if they did it right, I think they're too scared to make the change and do the right thing. Very sad.

  • Gawd some of this is sooooo true :L

  • @ShamuTrainerG - lol :P

  • @FreedomForOrcas Haha :L :)

  • I´ve once in my life (not willingly) seen a dolphin "show" and felt as if i had watched sparrows caught in a cigar box. It was horrible to see and i can´t forget. But no matter what we do, those beautiful creatures will extinct. Lost fishing nets, poison emmiting plastics and industrial fishing have reduced sea life to a very small amount and what is left isn´t enough to guarantee genetic diversity to prevent degeneration. We live on a dying planet, only we do not know...

    Yours Edgar Allan Poe

  • Since you think you know a whole lot about this stuff, (which you probably do) I have one question. I understand the whole anti/pro caps or whatever you want to call them, but studies show without the Marine Mammal Training Industry, America's economy would take an unforgiving drop. Now, my question is what is your purpose? You think firing people up on the internet, trying to "educate them" without being a professional. I have worked at several Marine facilities, in hope of working here one day

  • @HappyDancex3 - Sorry but you'll have to link me to these "studies", and I won't comment on that until I see evidence, thanks. Feel free to PM me links.

Secondly, concerning myself, I will post videos on youtube to raise awareness, because not many people know of this issue. It's also the most I can do until I can actually do some proper activist work over in the states. Can't do much from where i live atm.

  • My second remark is No .2 : Seaworld yes is more for the money side but there is a large pot that goes towards conservation. It depends on your definition but after studying it and working in an aquarium, I know Seaworld IS helping towards conservation. But this is only recent (since 2000 + i would say) but least they are doing something now.... something is better than nothing

  • @orkamad - Actually, SeaWorld donates very little to conservation, just sayin. In one year, they made 1.2 billion dollars, but only donated 1 million. They donated less than 0.08% of their profits. How sad.

  • @FreedomForOrcas HAHAHA. Really honey? Like 1 million dollars isn't enough? Bet thats more then your daddy and mommy will make in a lifetime. I don't see YOU donating money to help animals. SeaWorld protects and cares for more animals then Greenpeace, PETA, etc combined. You would be the only person that would make a youtube channel just to talk about something that you can't do anything about. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

  • @sweetnessboy1 - They made over a billion dollars. Most of that went into their pockets. If they cared about animals, they would have REAL campaigns that actually protect wild animals. They would campaign the IWC to include small cetaceans in the protection list, but they DON'T. Know why? Because they have a vested interest in keeping them from being protected. Just like they have a vested interest in feeding you bullshit. Looks like it's working.

  • @sweetnessboy1 Would you please share with us your knowledge about what conservation efforts SW offers wild orcas? I can not find any conservation efforts for wild orcas done by SW. Just because they recieve federal funding to conduct conservation work does not mean they are some type of ocean hero's. Let them use their own money and then come talk to me about their conservation, as of right now the majority of their conservation funds come from tax payers. Free animals from conservation also

  • @FreedomForOrcas wow really? that is way more than I thought they donated. Don't forget they still need money to feed the animals, pay the staff, pay for bills etc which I bet is not cheap. Even still $1 billion... wow i thought they would donate more like $1 million if that

  • @orkamad - No, you got it waaaayyy wrong buddy. SeaWorld made IN PROFITS 1 billion dollars. That means, they KEPT one billion for themselves.

They donated a mere one MILLION (like you originally thought) to "conservation" efforts, which in effect is just them handing out money to other random groups that do all the work.

They did NOT donate one billion. No way.

  • @orkamad SW gets federal funding for their conservation efforts & free animals out of the deal so they are not really providing the same as a rescue & rehab ONLY facility woul . What conservation efforts have you found that SW offers wild orcas? When speaking of orcas it is not proper to throw in conservation efforts since none are for wild orcas. This is a poor excuse to use to defend SW and CAPTIVE ORCAS.

  • @orkamad - Please read what Withoutmethereisnou replied to this comment, because it's very good and essentially what I would say as well.

ALSO, here's a nice statistic for you - in one year, SW made $1.2 billion, but only donated $1 million to conservation. Don't you think that if they were serious, they would donate more?

  • OK first good video and yep some ridiculous things there but there are two which I find have fuzzy boundries which are not annoying in my eyes. No. 4: No offence, but I find people forget whales suffer greatly with the uncertanty of food, poor immune system and all the pollution (accumulation of toxins and noise are some). Yes they can survive longer but its a battle all they way and in fact the older generation when there was less pollution are reaching over 60 so its a difficult thing (tbc)

  • BOO

    FREAKIN

    HOO

    lol that one was great!

  • You forgot "Without SW, people wouldn't know what dolphins are"; "I'm human, therefore I have the right to see dolphins in person"; and "Anyone who berates SW is an evil, puppy-kicking terrorist." :D

  • @TheLadyWhiteSnake - That is so true! I forgot :(. Yeah "without SeaWorld I wouldn't care about cetaceans", I highly doubt that one lol.

  • @FreedomForOrcas

Oh, I got another one! "My children enjoy these parks, stop ruining our fun." *Headdesk*

What do pro-captivity people say to defend the broken and drilled teeth of captive orcas I wonder? "Chewing on gates is a natural behavior, they do it all the time in the wild!"

I need to stop. XD Sorry to any nice pro-captives who may be reading this, I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just flabbergasted as to how a for-profit corporation like SW is supposedly God's gift to marine life.

  • Great video. If you are interested in a good read and understanding this issue from a captive dolphin's viewpoint, please check out the novel Mind Whispers on Amazon.

  • bahahahahaa thats sooo true!(; these animals are way too intelligent and big to be put in a bathtub

  • As a Cetacean Activist.. This was awesome.. Thank you. :D

  • Hilarious video. Disagree with #1, but hell, the rest of the points are so strong it really doesn’t detract so much from them.

  • @NRen2k5 - Thanks! It was mostly a joke (with elements of truth, obviously :P). Glad you liked it ^3^

  • Well this was entertaining xD (though I am half pro-cap, some took this seriously, apprently xD) I want to go see wild cetaceans soo baadlyyy but my parents don't (I hate them for that) because they think dolphin shows are more entertaining and in wild you can't even be sure you'll see the whales.

Of course I could go to the beach, stand there, watch the birds flying and algae floating in water and rocks and ships passing by.... xD

Because no really, dolphins and whales don't live in Estonia.

  • @LugalaiEstonia - Haha yes, I'm surprised by the number of people that took this video so seriously. Honestly... lol

Good luck on your whale watching quest! I hope you see them in the wild one day :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas So was I xD

Thanks! The only obstacle right now is my parents (and money, if I want to go somewhere far to watch wild whales). Well, when I get older I will probably move to some place with wild whales nearby =)

  • Have you checked out the video about seaworld releasing two stranded pilot whales into the wild and they are working on releasing the other stranded whales. If you haven't you should.

  • @Believe13at - Hey yeah, actually I did hear about that. Apparently SeaWorld was almost reluctant to even help these stranded pilot whales. Virtually everything was done by volunteers who didn't even work for SW - they even had to pay for any costs! Yet SeaWorld took all the credit.

  • I'd prefer to see orcas in the wild if it was actually free or cheap, as you say. However, the min. price of orca whale watching tours in Norway (closest to my location) is 2100 EURO! While the ticket to Marineland Antibes is about 50-100 EURO... The difference is very essential. Residents of Pudget Sound or Kuril Islands or New Zealand are lucky that orcas inhabit their areas and they indeed can see them often for free. But most of other people in the world don't have such opportunity.

  • @dreadfin - Wow, that's so over priced! I went on a dolphin watching and swim with in the wild experience, it was only $50. And I went on a whale watching tour a few years after that as part of a holiday package, and it was free :/. I live in Australia though, lol. Whales frequent the east coast.

  • @FreedomForOrcas

    > I went on a dolphin watching... it was only $50.

We're talking about orca whale watching which has another degree of prices. Bottlenosed dolphins are frequent in the Black Sea near the coast of Crimea, so to see wild dolphins in my country Ukraine is not a big problem. I know there are dolphin watching tours in Crimea and they probably cost even less than $50. Moreover, people of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol observe wild dolphins near the coast quite often.

  • @dreadfin - Hmm, i've never seen a wild orca. The closest ones to me would be in New Zealand. A return ticket would be a few hundred, plus a dolphin watch might be 50-100 as well. I have a lot of relatives in NZ so I just stay with them..

How about you fly to Aus and you can stay with me ;P

  • @FreedomForOrcas

    > How about you fly to Aus and you can stay with me ;P

Oh, thank you :) I'd gladly come, moreover Australia is my dream from childhood. But the travel would be so much expensive, air ticket is 1000 USD one-way minimum. I hope, I'll visit Australia some time in the future.

Are there any observations of orcas in Australia? Moreover, the famous "Old Tom" orcas were regular near Eden for a century. But I heard, orcas left that place after their friendship was betrayed by people

  • @dreadfin - There are virtually no orcas that go round Australia on any side, unfortunately :(. I think there are a few sightings occasionally on the Perth side, but i'm not sure. Usually you'll see Humpbacks, bottlenose dolphins etc.

Yeah, flight costs are ridiculously expensive. I'd love to travel to the States one day, unfortunately that is $4000 for a return ticket :(. Money which I don't have lol...

  • @FreedomForOrcas Maybe you already read that but if not, read about Old Tom case in details. And there was a very interesting documentary movie "Killers of Eden" which I watched translated in Russian. The whole pod of orcas cooperated with whalers of Australia for almost a century until 1930 near Eden, New South Whales. According to still living witnesses, that was a genuine cooperation and friendship between orcas and people. Now there's Eden Killer Whale Museum in that town. Did you visit it?

  • @dreadfin - I did read about Old Tom, and have heard of the story, but never knew where Eden was lol. I just discovered that it's actually quite close to where i live! I could make a day trip there one day haha. I haven't visited it yet but i'll be sure to check it out some time! Thanks :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas So orcas lived near Australia coast in the past. But, according to what I saw in the movie "Killers of Eden", friendship ended after a crazy man killed a beached orca with his knife and other men weren't in time on the beach to prevent him and save the orca. After that, the orca pod separated on two parts. Most part of orcas left the area and never returned. Tom and few other orcas stayed as if they understood people in general didn't want evil to them. Good luck to visit Eden!

  • @dreadfin - Yep, that's basically how the story goes! Thanks :)

  • @dreadfin cont'd... It is difficult for people (i assume you live in Europe?) who are living in land-based countries. For them, whale watching/swim with dolphins in the wild would have to be something to save up for over a period of time. Of course, Marineland Antibes is in France. Once you get there, you'd have to pay for accommodation, food, travel, souvenirs..? lol. I imagine that would be a bit on the expensive side also.

  • @FreedomForOrcas

    > Of course, Marineland Antibes is in France. Once you get there, you'd have to pay for accommodation, food, travel, souvenirs..?

Don't I need accomodation and food in Norway? Moreover, Norway is known for its high prices.

  • @dreadfin - Sorry for a moment I thought you lived in Norway! Well, yes you'd need that too. Maybe check out other areas besides Norway where they have whales and dolphins that pass through, if it's really expensive.

  • ok ur vid was so stupid seriously u have 2 much spare time lol

  • @grainne96 - Actually, I did have a lot of spare time this weekend. Finished all my uni assignments, plus I only have to work Saturdays and Tuesdays. How did you know?! :o

  • Hardly taken it seriously, its more like....hmmm... a big christmas present. a big box of laughter :D

As Dr Cox says, "THERES MY BIG BOX OF FAILIURE :D"

Getting to knowwwww youuuu, getting to know alll abouuuuut youuuuu

  • @wootirockx - lol, okay.

  • Imma sleep now, please dont feel to offended, but your little "fun video" failed to irk me :3 Please dont get upset and delete all my comments again :3 GOODNIGHT ANTICAPT ITS LOVELY GETTING TO KNOW YOU ;3

  • @wootirockx - lol trust me, I wasn't offended, and I was expecting people to comment on it with their arguments. This video is highly sarcastic and I wouldn't take it too seriously like you just did... ;)

  • @wootirockx - lol, also i've never deleted any comments from anyone (except spammers). If I did, it would say "comment removed". Clearly it does not. I have no idea what you're talking about on the Free Lolita video, in fact, you've never commented on it before today lol

  • and finallyyyy....

1 - Seaworld done a tonnneee for conservation, i always see blogs and vids of SW saying how they rescued and animal and released it.

This was fun, no really. I enjoyed this ;)

  • @wootirockx -

1 - The animals they release are for PR purposes and that is all. They get PAID to release manatees, endangered turtles etc. Their "conservation" program is merely SeaWorld redistributing money, when guests can easily make a tax-deductible donation directly to the organisation. Check out my video "SeaWorld Fund a Sham" it explains it.

Their campaigns for protecting wild cetaceans is virtually non existent. Have they helped wild orcas at all? Nope.

  • @FreedomForOrcas There cause if for if the orca population starts to decrease they are gonna use the captives semen to AI the wild ones and therefore help re-populate. and OFC SW do stuff for money. Conservation or not, they are still a business.

  • @wootirockx - That is the 100% WRONG direction to take when protecting wild animals that are endangered. That is an option that should be used as a LAST resort, not as a first choice! Pathetic. There are so many real, non-profit orgs working to protect wild animals. They breed, rehabilitate and release. THAT is what conservation is.

SeaWorld is only breeding to keep their captive pods alive. I mean, if they ran out of orcas, that means the shows will end which = no more money for SeaWorld. Naww.

  • @FreedomForOrcas Gwen, Im gunna be honest here. When i did my interaction in december, i got to go into SeaWorld's Rescue and Rehab center. I must say, they don't rescue animals for profit, in fact they don't make money at all. They rescue Manatees, and by LAW they are FORCED to release them, not paid to. You need to do more research on SeaWorld's rescue efforts :/

  • @Tili4ever - No, i'm serious. There is a government grant that pays marine centres like SeaWorld to release animals like manatees. They get paid to release them.

SeaWorld's rescue efforts are all for PR purposes. They also conveniently release untrainable animals. I don't see them releasing or rescuing any killer whales. The Pacific northwest population is suffering - where is SeaWorld? Nowhere to be seen. They only care about their captive pods because that's where the money is made.

  • @FreedomForOrcas I'm sorry… But I just think that is totally not true. Unfortunately what I learned from SeaWorld, while behind their rescue center, learning about every little piece of equipment they had, the animals that were there right then, including a little manatee named pixie, won't convince you.

  • @Tili4ever - What you *think* is different to actually *knowing* what goes on. Unfortunately SeaWorld is a corporation, and protecting their image and how they look to people like you is one of their highest priorities. The reason you think they're so great is because their PR campaign is so good. But unfortunately, you can't trust a company where there is money and animals involved.

  • @FreedomForOrcas Gwen I just can't believe you! I'm sorry, but i KNOW that SeaWorld isn't about PR!! Just give it a rest already!!!!!

  • @Tili4ever - LOL believe it.

  • @FreedomForOrcas Um, anything to do with animals in human care PROVIDES MONEY. So suddenly you can't trust rehabilitation centers because they have MONEY?

    Just saying...

  • @cefurst1 She's got a point Freedom...everything cost money. I trust them fully...

  • @OrcasFTWman - Do you trust them fully because they told you to?

  • @FreedomForOrcas Nope. Because I chose to trust them. I'm more anti-cap then pro, and I still trust them. So it's not because "they" told me to.

  • @OrcasFTWman - Why do you trust them then? Just asking.

  • @FreedomForOrcas I trust them, because as many orcas and animals HAVE died in captivity, there is indeed many many many MANY that they have saved. A couple of em die...so what? It's the way of life. God or anyone wants them to go, they go. Simple as that. But they do somewhat dedicate their lives to protecting them. And so what if they're doing it for money? If animal lives are being saved while they're making money, I honestly dgaf.

  • @OrcasFTWman - The way of life is to allow animals to have a natural death. In captivity, their deaths are stress related, over-breeding related, illnesses and diseases contracted that they normally wouldn't get. Why do you think their life expectancy is so small in capt?

I disagree, and I don't believe in God, so I guess that is where our discussion ends. You believe it is God's will that ended their lives. I believe it is human selfishness and ignorance.

  • @FreedomForOrcas Whatever floats your boat.

  • @OrcasFTWman Sea World, which owns most of the captive orcas and dolphins in the United States, has one of the worst histories of caring for its animals.

After Sea World purchased and closed Marineland, a Southern California competitor, it shipped the Marineland animals to various Sea

World facilities. Within a year, 12 of them--5 dolphins, 5 sea lions, and 2 seals--were dead. The following year, Orky, a Marineland orca

said to be the "world's most famous killer whale," also died. -WAF

  • @cefurst1 - Did I say "rehabilitation centre"? No. I said "company". Why? Because at the end of the day, a company's top priority is money, and profits. End of the line.

Also, if someone's dream is at the expense of others, then I don't support it. So boo freakin hoo to them.

  • @FreedomForOrcas Rehabilitation Centers, Rescue Centers, and many other places built for animal welfare are companies, just because they do generate income, doesnt mean they are suddenly evil...

  • @cefurst1 - Companies? Not really. I mean, consider the research centres that operate for wild orcas. They are non-profit, and aimed at raising awareness about wild pods. For example, Orca Network does an amazing job every year studying these animals, and teaching people REAL information about them.

SeaWorld, owned by the Blackstone Group, has shares in the stock market, they aim at earning money and increasing profits. The animals are not their highest concern. That is what I mean.

  • @FreedomForOrcas I fully support Orca Network, my best friend hopes to work with them, and she was in Washington a few days ago :) Also, I don't at all like the head of the SeaWorld company, but I love the employees who work with animals, in captivity or the wild...Those people care, and in case no ones told you, my passion is to enrich the lives of the orcas at SeaWorld, because they definetley arent going anywhere. And in fact by working for them, I'm taking money from them...

  • @cefurst1 Well that is great! I would love to travel to the states one day...

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the people who work with the animals... the trainers, etc. I don't doubt that they love them. However, I have a problem with the heartless people behind the scenes. The ones that call the shots.

Again, if you want to work for SeaWorld, I'm not going to stop you. The "boo hoo" response is just because I hear that all the time and it gets tiresome lol :P

  • @FreedomForOrcas I wouldn't care about stopping the big man. As long as these pro-caps are getting their dreams, I am absolutely happy =) Besides...even if it's not God taking the lives of animals. It was their time anyways. They die natural deaths in captivity too. Even during birth. That's normal with ALL animals.

  • @OrcasFTWman - I've read up a lot on captive orca deaths, the overwhelming majority were questionable to say the least.

In response to the "pet" thing - humans have domesticated those animals for over thousands of years. They have grown and adapted to our way of life, and we are able to meet their needs in a human environment. The same cannot be said for cetaceans.

Also, what do you mean "so what if they capture them"? You should rethink that statement...

  • @FreedomForOrcas Yes dude you should....

  • @FreedomForOrcas -_- This is why I hate the difference between pro-caps and anti-caps...this is why I usually shut up and stay the heck out of these situations. Right now I could be watching TV...playing video games...eating a bagel. xD

  • @OrcasFTWman - Yeah I see your point about anti-pro. It comes down to we all love orcas.

And I should be helping to cook dinner... my sister's birthday today lol. Nice discussion with you, thanks :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas You're welcome :) That's one thing I love about these 'arguments' though. It gets points across, and we get irritated, but so what? As long as we're all cool xD But have a good evening! :)

  • @OrcasFTWman - Thanks very much! And thank you for keeping it civilised :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas Very welcome :) I apologize for getting slightly irritated though. Just saying we all have opinions on what's going on, but I say we should stick with our differences. Let pros have their orcas in captivity, and antis have their pods, and get along knowing we love the orcas :)

  • @FreedomForOrcas SeaWorld isnt the only big company out there that is heartless...thats just corporate America sadly enough... >.<
