  • Thank you. With your video I could finally figure out that I had to rotate the "blade pusher" thing to "wind up" the spring correctly against the divider.

  • I built mine today but the view finder screen was transparent they didn't give me the one that its suppose to be. I see the mirror and the lens when I look down but it is suppose to be blurry opaque please help!

  • hi! i'm having trouble with my shutter as well. i think it's the spring for the "blade pusher" that's the problem. the end of the spring should be against the partition board, right? well mine is pointing downwards when i put the "blade pusher" in place. do you think this could be a product defect? :(

  • @camsywamsyify have you rotate "blade pusher" counterclockwise while you put it in place?

  • @moraguna Yes, yes! :) I was finally able to figure out the need to rotate it! I didn't quite understand the graphics in the manual. Oh well, at least I've finished assembling my Recesky! :) Thanks for your video!

I have another problem, though. The counter doesn't turn along with the advance knob. Upon inspection, I noticed the sprockets do not attach well to the gear inside. I'm thinking of not using the counter anymore and just estimating how much I'll turn the knob to advance to one frame.

  • @camsywamsyify did you put the film in yet? because without film the counter won't turn while you advance the knob. If you really want to check the counter you can rotate the gear inside to see the movement of the counter.

  • @moraguna Thanks so much! This part left me scratching my head all night.

  • Hi, i would like to ask, if its the smaller circle spring for the first part of the of hooking the shutter open and close and then the bigger circle spring for the second part?

  • @cocochen10 that's right, the spring with bigger circle is for the shutter release

  • im assembling it half way....but i have a problem with the shutter. If i open it, it doesnt close back. Is it suppose to be this way? i dont wanna assemble the whole thing and find out that it is spoiled and have to get a new spring. Which spring is the one that closes the shutter?

  • @lohwhyekeat no, it should close back right away, maybe you screw the screw too tight. The right spring for the shutter blade is the spring with circle hooks at each end, and I don't think you would make a mistake on this one

  • @moraguna exactlyyyyy. :( i removed all the other springs except for the shutter blade spring. I tried opening it. But it doesnt close back and i also loosened the screw and still doesnt close right back. Any thoughts on this?

  • @lohwhyekeat google "WEAK shutter screw thread space" check the first search result, it might help you, on second thought maybe the blade kicker(not sure what it calls, the thing between shutter blade and shutter release) is the one that need to be loose a little bit.

  • @moraguna okkkk. went around with the spring and bought a new one. DONE! :) ready to shoot!

    Thanks. :)

  • i've just bought one, the assembly goes well with the video. thanks =) however, i've problem with the loading film... when i advance the film, the gear does not indicate it well. i.e. sometimes it moves, sometimes it don't. may i know how to solve this?

  • @snowangely2k have you notice there is a gap between the camera body and the camera back, especially the side with gear(right side see from the back), if so then there is your problem, to fix this, just simply use your thumb press and hold it tightly while you wind the film. you don't need a lot of force to press it, press it gently well do. hope this will help you :)

  • @moraguna , hihi~ thanks for that! i've tried to add a paper previously. so what i do now is add a little pressure (as what you suggested) with the paper in...

the indicator doesn't move very smoothly, but at least it does work... i'll see how's the result after I finished snapping and develop the film... thanks!

  • @snowangely2k i had the same problem, and it really annoyed me. this used to be an issue with my holga 120fn, it didn't have enough tension to fully wound the film on the reel.

So my solution for the gakkenflex (and holga) is to place a piece of tissue paper, 2 layers would do between the film and the camera back. A bit tricky when you close her up but it works like a charm. No need to apply pressure on the back when winding... Just dont make it too thick though or lightleaks might seep in.

  • @janegaspar , hi there~ thanks for the help. i've previously added a piece of paper, but it seems that the "tooth" of the indicator will lose track of the film ... i don't know why.. but if i added too many papers (like 2 layers of cardboard) there'll be lightleaks as what you said...

i'm trying to add a little pressure to it. i'll see how it works....I hope it works good enough...

    thank u !

  • @snowangely2k using regular paper (or it also depends on the gsm) might be too thick for the "teeth" to latch on the film properly... I really highly suggest a 2-ply tissue paper :) works like a charm.

  • Hey, erm I was wondering.... does the shutter have a "click" sound after you take a picture?

  • @charmteo yes

  • Hi,

Does the gakkenflex take pictures through standard format landscape? 24x36mm?

  • Hi, I had a problem with the shutter mechanism, hope u can help me.

It only opens to about 80% of the way, so the shutter hole dosn't open to make a full circle. Is this ok? Or is it going to affect my photos with a black crescent area?

    thanks heaps

  • @lunatique561 it does not effect much. Mine does the same thing when the shutter open slower(press shutter release slower), but if you press the shutter fast enough it would make full circle. But don't press too hard or you might break it.

  • For mine, the shutter dosen't open when I press the.. thingy down.

  • @sabrinamoo move shutter blade with your finger, if you feel it is tight loose the screw a little bit

shutter blade should be very very loose, no resistance at all

  • Great video! amazing!!
