  • Nicely done overview - thanks for the overview and insights! I currently use an Electro-Harmonix Stereo Memory Man's loop mode (30 seconds of 24-bit stereo) but am always on the lookout for new and interesting loopers. Particularly eager to check out the Pigtronix Infinity.

  • So which one you ended up with ? I have the new jamman and I will be getting the rang soon .

  • It comes down to cost. The boomerang is the o obvious choice, but at almost 500 dollars...mmmm, might just go for the jam man.

  • Just got a jamman stereo store-used...for 200.00.My buttons are silent.....worn in?!!!?

  • good info.... I have the old mono jamman for harp loops and works good Harmonicadave

  • Great! I could totally relate. I'm not big into pedals that mess with the original signal much. eg. a bad wah wah without true bypass. Or pedals that add certain artifacts. The boomerang with its quick precision switches seems to be the looper I'd lean towards to. I had the same notion while researching leslie pedals on the gas market and found the rotosphere to be the most organic sounding. Then again you have to like digitech's storage abilities to call back jams for live or to remember lol.

  • much thanks

  • outstanding unbiased and informative review man. thank you! i just ordered a boomerang. i am sure it will help me be a better player. mahalo

  • Thanx!

  • I have the JamMan Delay and I love it but the Boomerang does have some really interesting and different features that I just got to have.

Best of all is that they are all American !

  • Awesome honest commentary. I love it and it helped me make a better decision which is basically what you came up with and I want both.

    Thanks

  • I took up the jml2 and boomerang demos at GC for many hrs. If you want a flexible+ real time sampler that retains original picking attack+ but strips some of the palm mutes thumps-, the Boomerang is it.

The Digitech is considerably less flexible- real time than the rang but retains much of original palm mutes+ and picking attack+ of samples. Both won't touch the guitar voice which make both good for ss and tube amps.

Because of the storage capability+, I bought the jml2 at the closing hour.

  • I rarely comment out of my own sheer laziness, but I had to tell you how much I appreciate your style of review -- superbly informative, yet very conversational and laid back. You hit on all the right notes, features, pro's and con's. More like this, please.

  • great work! thx a lot

  • THis is very good I can tell you actually listen to what you play, good info on tone.

  • still cant decide..........he looks like a hand modle

  • Good info, Thanx

  • Ohhh how I want to kill the Youtube developers that cant get their fucking player to run properly without stopping all the fucking time ! I have a high speed broadband connection that ROCKS!

  • thanks.... don't understand Y makers of the BOOMERANG couldn't add a memory card or internal memory, not smart. I have the JAMMAN and love it for making up ideas and saving to the computer.

  • @motokev It would defeat the whole point of looping. The idea is to make short loops LIVE. Any loops over 20 seconds or so are too long, and you might as well be playing to a CD track. There's no point in having a memory for loops for the same reason. Once the performance is done, you move on to something else. The new Boomerang 3 sounds good, but it's a step backwards in functionality. They added more loops (like anyone needs more than two), and took away vital features the Boomerang+ had.

  • Excellent!

  • Id love to have the Rang, but unfortunately it does not have XLR or Mic input and that s important for me because i loop with vocals as well...

  • Good show covering the tone suck aspects of these units. I sold my BOSS RC20XL because quite apart from the usability problems it suffered from, the tone suck was absolutely horrendous! Any looper with even 1/4 the compression that the BOSS imposed on the input is completely unusable for live performance in my book.

  • Great review. Thank you.

  • This is a great comparison. Thanks man.

  • Thanks for going into alot of detail that other reviews don't tend to do, found this really helpful in deciding what pedal i want to get

    Cheers

  • That was really helpful - thanks!

  • I found this very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do this!
