    Dear Pop17

I will post here something on your page, because I need you help. Sorry, that it isnt in the theme, but very important for me, that somebody read it. I wish you just the best for your person and your work. I have to scream it out

Silvercoffeesurfer is SUSPENDED, because he was the largest swiss youtuber, had over 90'000 views and over 1000 subscribers.

  • 4.

Silvercoffeesurfer had the balls to criticize fallofautumndistro and his crew.

Then this people has destroyed his work. They KILLED him, like Kennedy or other good exaples in America.

Silvercoffeesurfers movies were (a lot of them) about PEACE. So he was just real.

And now these people are sure very proud about this, without to know what they have killed.

  • What is going on here?

  • Darling,

It's very cute from you, that you are interested, but I don't belive, that you can help me.

Your friend fallofautumndistro deleted my account names silvercoffeesurfer, 90'000 views, 100 movies, 1100 subscirbers, largest source in swiss maybe because I made you a video response, where I criticise his book. So in law: is this the "freedom of free speech"

  • 5.

Congratulations Fallofautumndistro, I'm sure a lot kids will learn from you to solve through killing.

There were a lot of different other solutions, which had been so much better, that you just can dream about it.

    Peace.

  • I agree that its interesting to see how these services are gonna be monetized. Right now the entire focus seems to be only on advertisement, which I personally feel could become a problem. I think that people using the services are more and more getting used to ignoring ads, if at one point advertisers feel that they're not really getting their message across because of this, these businesses might loose their only source of income.

  • There's already been the small debate about Google, who on the one hand get pretty much all their income from ads, yet on the other hand sponsor Mozilla for making Firefox, which has tools build-in to block ads from appearing.

Look up the introduction of the iPhone, theirs a disturbing silence when Steve Jobs talks about webclips, the feature that lets you visit only a certain section of a website (effectively hiding ads that are placed next to it. I feel this could be a bubble about to pop.

  • a lot of those "talking heads" weren't saying a thing...they were simply using buzzwords and talking points...but that's how it goes "in the industry".

  • What do you think they could have said? I'd love to hear from you! What's your idea for how publishers can make money? Best idea wins a nokia cell phone.

  • some quick background: i worked for the media distributor/aggregator called DMGI (now part of The Orchard)...and, as the Video Operations Manager, i was faced with that very issue: how to make money off of licensed content. mostly, we licensed the content for short terms, sold our videos to mobile networks, or we earned advertising dollars. those methods didn't provide the kind of returns we were hoping for...(answer to be continued.)

  • now, i am a freelance content creator...and i am in the same boat as other publishers...except i haven't found the short-term opportunities i've been looking for (sponsorships and ad revenue). now, ideally, i'd seek out licensing deals, and/or, contract-based distribution/creation deals. but even those ops aren't quite where i want to be...the idea i have is to create (healthy) competition among content publishers (similar to a rating system), where new content is only released if there...(tbc)

  • ...if there is demand. this system rewards the viewer and will benefit the publisher...it will increase their visibility to sponsors/advertisers/networks...i realize that this is not a money-making solution...with the way copyrights are evolving (creative-commons being foremost in my mind), i do not think it's going to be so simple to "make money" off of web content in the coming years...the industry is going to have to change the way it does business...let me see if i can wrap this up...(tbc)

  • the current situation is a mess. everyone is vying for the spotlight...and there have been "monumental" success stories (SMOSH, sxephil, LisaNova, askaninja)...but those stories all have the same climax (a network or "bigger fish" came along and gobbled them up)...what i'm saying is, until the industry becomes focused on independent content creation (it's still largely based around the "pros"), there won't be much of an industry for "the little guy"...there will only be success stories. (tbc)

  • ...and not SUCCESS FOR EVERYONE.

i have not fully answered your question...because i don't think ANYONE has the answer right now.

then again...maybe someone has just been "hit on the head with an apple" (as i've been typing), and will soon unravel the gravity of the situation.

but i'm not discouraged. i'm still going to make videos. :)

    (apologies for the extensive comment-ramble.)

  • would be better you would offer YOUR PHONE NUMBER as the price

I'm sure then you would reach a lot of ideas :D, because I had this idea I want the nokia

    :P

  • I really like when you go out and poll people for their input. I know it's not easy, but the interaction of different views is stimulating.

  • You mentioned some of my favourite words in that video;

    Social networks, Myspace, FaceBook, community

    :)

  • Great vid Sarah, keep up the good work. :)

P.S. Link's wrong in your info box, you might wanna fix that up!

  • fixed. Thanks for catching that Nathanbe. xx Sarah

  • I don't think any of those guys wouldn't want to talk to you.

Making money is what it all comes down to. I'd be cranking out vidz all the time if it was my income. Show me the money.

  • great interview Sarah! Very good stuff! Love, Buck

  • Thank you! I'm sooo looking forward to Saturday too.

  • You have a very engaging way of coaxing people to answer your questions. Plus, you know proper microphone placement.
