  • The inter-galactic beetles.......

  • Now this is the version that I remember. I didn't know at the time that he had composed this song a decade earlier (which I'm too young to remember). Either way, both are good. BTW, that bass lick kicked butt!

  • Paul looks sexy♥ he always looks sexy :3

  • How can anybody like glee's version better? Paul McCartney is a musical genious, all glee's ever done is take other people's songs and cover them.

  • @McHarrLennonStarr Glee's version is good, but they can't play it like Paul....that's impossible!

  • This ranks of one of the weirdest performances I've ever seen.

  • i love this!

  • i like glee's version

  • @smlburr i like it too but this is epic, glee's version is just good

  • What was with all the crazy outfits and that weird assed black guy?

  • The great Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson

  • Comment removed

  • 3:17 Jeff Porcaro R.I.P. <3

  • 4:29 to 4:46 is the keystone to why this is my favorite version of my favorite song. :)

  • The hell?

  • A guilty pleasure strictly for McCartney Beatles fans, i've had this on VHS for years! i've recently obtained the dvd which quality wise is ok, i see from this clip that it's 'Unmatted Widescreen' the dvd version mattes the top and bottom so you don't see the lights as seen in this clip.

  • @adminallen No, you're wrong. They both rock and do not suck:]

  • TRON!

  • is that Ringo on drums or no?

  • @moviemakerpeoples025 No Jeff Porcaro from Toto

  • @trebsoft oh...darn :( well actually...good...cos it doesnt look like Ringo!

  • HAHAHAHHA I CAN SEE STEVE LUKATHER AND JEFF PORCARO FROM TOTO THEY LOOK SO FUNNY!

  • With all that make-up and that wig, Linda looks like Lady Gaga........Poor Linda :-(

  • @Froleyboy OMG i just relized tht!

  • The glee one is so much better

  • @carylhan I disagree with your statement, but i respect it

  • @profawgdl i m still glad that you said that you respect it not like some people

  • DEAR GOD....MAKE IT STOP. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! PAUL on keys too!!! He's always been the goofy Beatle. Lennon would never do this.

  • @HeavyBarrel My God what is wrong with you, one hateful comment is enough I'm so freakin SICK of comments like yours

  • @HeavyBarrel Paul is awesome Lennon sux

  • @adminallen Give me a break. Lennon/McCartney songs are the best (even tho' individually crafted sometimes) Lennon songs lyrics kick me in the gut, McCartney's bass playing knocks me down. Sorry, I'm a musician, maybe you don't understand this.

  • DEAR GOD....MAKE IT STOP. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! PAUL on keys too!!!

  • DEAR GOD....MAKE IT STOP. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • This is a weird video.

  • bass line , is my hearth

  • Ironically, the film 'Moonwalker' came a few years later & had a very similar style to 'Give My Regards To Broad Street'; several pop videos linked by a rather tenuous storyline.

  • Oh... I didn't know McCartney had a movie done with that title... I knew of the CD album, but not the movie... Was that released here in the USA? And in what year was that done?

  • @TribeAtLargePhracass yes, sometime in october 1984, the 26th, i think.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder from what project was this taken from... Was this from some program recorded in Japan (?)... With a Michael Jackson like dancer there as well? In what year was this video done?

  • @TribeAtLargePhracass

It says in the description. From the movie "Give my regards to Broadstreet" 1984.

  • I wonder from what project was this taken from... Was this from some program recorded in Japan (?)

  • Such an underrated album - ONLY because the film bombed. But the soundtrack to Broad Street is nothing short of AMAZING! How about that cover of "Here, There and Everywhere"?!?!?!

  • @nopethegeek When an artist performs their own song, it's not a cover. It's a different version.

  • ♥ SILLY ♥ LOVE ♥ SONGS ♥ FOREVER ♥

  • Nobody give a care wht joahn loennon says 'bout this particular sond or whatsoever

that 'jealous guy' spent his life for drugs politics sodomy instead of a talent

  • This is sooooo 80's!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!! Yay Paul!

  • BEST bass line EVER! I was in person when he performed this in Las Vegas on his first "World Tour:" and he had 60 foot speakers and when the bass started, people freaked out cos it felt like something was pounding on your chest! WOO HOO! LOL! RIP Linda.....

  • wow that was awesome!

  • i LOVE this song i remember watching this in the movie GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY haha

  • its macca..I remember this version coming out.. its also on the original sleeve of Broad Street 84. Its a re-make.. Lennon bad mouthed mcCartney's songs.. saying..' People are sick of silly love songs' - McCartney wrote this.. When he made the movie ' Give my regards to Broad Street ' he re vamped it.. giving it an Annie Lennox feel..

  • This is not Paul McCartney. This is what John Lennon would call "bull shit". The original i love. This version. Hell no.

  • Ha, ha, I like it! Who is the bass player?

  • @tezeea Louis Johnson on bass, Steve Lukather on Guitar, Jeff Porcaro on Drums....

  • CATS CAST WTF!!!!

  • should say "Silly Loves Songs - Wings" why? because paul aside thats an awesome fucking band

  • IS MICHAEL JACKSON. JAJAJAJA XD.

  • He looks hilarious but you can't help but love him for it.It's a great movie anyone who hasn't seen it should watch it,it's perfect for when you need a laugh.

  • anyone know where you can get the4 whole film ?

  • @angus1878 It has been officially released in DVD a couple of years ago. You can probably find it cheap on UK's Ebay.

  • @zasel2007 LIVE AND LET DIE!

  • I do...peole who does shit like this don't...or lazy coments aswell.

  • @zasel2007

No one made you watch this video. And who cares what John would have thought had he heard and seen this. Paul wrote this song, so I would be safe in saying that he can pretty much do whatever he wants with this masterpiece!!!

No hard feelings. You told us how you felt, I told you how I felt. Good day!

  • i love this drummer even if if its not Ringo Starr. Dont get me wrong, i still think hes awesome but im just sayin he looks cool.

  • Who's GAGA now, bitch?

  • this is stanley clarke on bass........

  • I love paul mccartney

  • who's on the bass?

  • that is Jeff Porcaro on drums as well as Steve Lukather on guitar, both ftom Toto. The best version of this song.

  • What was he thinking?

  • oh paul look sexy even like a ice prince

  • This is so Rare Stuff! :-D

  • Louis Johnson on the bass! TOTAL BADASS!!!!

  • I'm sure Sir Paul MacCartney is a GREAT EXTRAORDINARY GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @stratguy1688 I have ALWAYS loved this version for that bass line since I was a kid

  • yeah! this movie is great!! is so funny too! HAHA the bass is awesome I like it !!!

  • This video from the film shows you that sometimes Sir Paul McCartney should let people tell him the truth like John did.

  • This video from the film shows you that sometimes Sir Paul McCartney should let people tell him the truth like John did.

  • What filthy ways are these?

  • This is still one of my favorite moves and this is my favorite song/scenes in the movie.

  • :-] I love his appearance in this video "Silly Love Songs". It's so adorable to see him like that. :-] Love the sweet faces in this video Paul! Love you!!

  • Just Plumb Awsome Bring Back Memorie's, Sherie Are You Out There,Can You Hear Me LOL?

  • Wow, that robot dancer single-handedly pulled off almost all of Michael Jackson's famous moves!

  • @80sholic he, jeff daniel, actually created most of them. he's the one who taught michael the moonwalk.

  • cool sweet bass

  • @mrfrogbot I always get excited during the bass solo

  • Actually the backing band in this is Toto!

  • man"o"man that louis johson is one smok'n hot bass player........

  • HAHA guy in black dances sooo weird :D

  • This remake of "Silly Love Songs" was far superior to the original. The bass is much better here.

  • stop it please origanal

  • Paul embracing the 80's. Complete with breakdancer and cheesy slap bass solo.

    Ice Prince! LOL!

  • What is the wide world of sports?? Japaneses TV producers..... Haven't heard this version of the song before.

  • Nice line-up man! Louis, Steve and Jeff!!

  • @Gorgalisin that isn't Stu Hamm playing bass ? I thought it was .... hmmm

  • @vulgarinsult no no, it's Louis Johnson, you can easily recognize him by his slapping style and Yamaha BB series bass

  • i love the end when he says whats wrong with that~ and hes waving goodbye all sad.....i love him!

  • I LOVE HIS FACE!

  • Bad ass bass at 4.32.

    Know what I'm sayin'

  • @bondbug73 Louis Johnson (brothers Johnson) is found quilty for that !

  • it's called slap bass ....lots of lessons on youtube how to do it.....and agreed...it's SICK.

  • Who let that dick on at 2.36.....

Ahh, It's Shalamar's Jeff Daniels doing his pouring water into a glass routine....

Well in that case please continue and get Macca off.

  • 4:43-4:47 is some crazy shit

  • Oh my god Steve Lukather and Jeff Porcaro here xD

  • I really don't cre for this version. Love the original.

  • Jeffrey Daniel from Shalamar was the dancer. McCartney was impressed enough having seen him display the new style of dancing as it was then - breakin/body-poppin on an episode of Top Of The Pops to offer him a spot in the film.

  • I'll never have enough of silly love songs!...hahahah wow Paul invented Visual Kei

  • Awesome version of a great song!

  • the bass is cool

  • that bass solo gets me excited each time I hear it

  • I like this version of Silly Love Songs.

    The robot dancer is awesome!

  • jajajaja "the robot dancer is awsome"... you must have an extremely low IQ my dear... Im glad Im not you, poor idiot.

  • Look at Linda's hair. Now I know where Lady Gaga stole that style from. LOL

Looks like a band w/mullets that got stuck in a freezer.

  • @crowman1979

Mullets stuck in a freezer! Great!

  • that'al be the day j p jones could slap a bass guitar. come on already!

  • Why is everyone wearing white?

  • The drummer is Steve Porcaro and the guitar solo is made by Steve Lukather. Both of them were members of Toto.

    They are awsome

  • Are you sure you're not thinking of

Jeff Porcaro? Steve Porcaro is a keyboardist. And yes, the guys in Toto were/are incredible musicians.

  • You are right. It is Jeff i dont know why i changed the name. Sorry again

    Cheers from Colombia

  • Salud.

  • best bass line I've herd, cant listen to the orginal anymore

  • thats definitly not john paul jones.maybe its randy jackson after jenny craig lol.

  • @540allison louis johnson of the brothers johnson.has played on many quincy jones produced albums like thriller, off the wall, give me the night, also has worked on mike mcdonald tune i keep forgettin' with jeff porcaro and steve lukather on drums and guitar respectively!

  • That was John Paul Jones of Led Zepplin on bass.

  • great song... love the dancer

  • I don't understand the point to cover his own tune. But, I guess if you are bored enough.. You could do what ever the hell you want with your songs.

  • Sometimes you're not sure if the version of the song you recorded is the best one you could get, and after some time you look at it again and find a newer (or a better) way to play it that you like more.

Personally, I prefer this version than the wings' one

  • thats john taylor from duran duran on bass.

  • I'm not so sure, this man on the video has a heavier build than John Taylor who is very very thin, look at this man´s muscular legs, I'm not sure he is John Taylor...John must've been pretty busy touring with Duran Duran back in 1984, besides I've seen DD live three times and never saw him slap the bass like that or hunch like the man on this vid, John's always straight as a ramrod, but maybe I'm wrong.

  • It's not John Taylor.

  • They were in Japan when this was filmed where Paul was detained for having Marijuana

  • He was arrested in 1980, this filming was started in 1982, so it was long after he was arrested.

  • I stand corrected, maybe a nod to Ziggy Stardust?

  • wtf is paul mccartney thinking here

  • Dude. It was the '80s. This is just a 90 minute music video, essentially.

  • whats with the moron playing slap bass?

  • What's wroong with thaaat?

  • haha i'd like to knoww. but the slap bass is retarded.

  • It's just that I always thought this song was written in protest to those who are sanctimonious, condescending or snobbish (like Lennon when he wrote that letter to Macca), if that guy likes to slap the bass, that's fine 4 me, especially in this song because it's all about tolerance.

  • Jeff's way to play drums is unique

I mean he doesn't even look like he usually does but you can still know that is him 'cause of his way to play the drums :)

  • Pfffff... Lord Jeff Porcaro... God bless his groovy soul...

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA-HA

  • love it!

  • lare if my memory serves it was the 70s

  • As shit as your comment is captaingorgonzola, this is a killer video! What other video do you know of that has an awesome dancer like Jeffery Daniel in it with lightning bolts coming out of his shoes?

  • Comment removed

  • 4:45

didn't the same thing happened with gozer at the end of ghostbusters? this is looking all too familiar...

  • jeffrey daniels from shalamar is the dancer and he taught michael jackson to moonwalk and danced and choreographed alot of MJ's vids...........jus sayin :-)

  • OK. What the fuck am I watching? Why is Paul McCartney dressed up like some kind of ice prince?

  • I think its a juxta position to the feelings of the song where I love you is wam sentiment as oposed to cold

  • @CWMcGaw Because he is an ice prince.

  • @CWMcGaw That's Toto's Steve Lukather on lead guitar and Jeff Porcaro on Drums. Together with Louis Johnson of the Brothers Johnson makes this my favorite version of "Silly Love Songs". On the makeup, yes I thought it is odd when I saw the movie back in 1984.

  • @CWMcGaw to save the ice princess Karine from the evil dark witch Siobhan in the land of Merleon... IDK.

  • @CWMcGaw It's a scene from his movie, Give My Regards To Broad Street.

  • @CWMcGaw Not only is it a scene from Give my Regards to Broad Street but in the movie he played a 'version' of himself and was filming a music video.

  • @CWMcGaw but he's cute...

  • @CWMcGaw LOL did you say "ice prince?" that is the best thing i have heard all day. lol thanks for making a fella smile. ice prince lol

  • 4:30 is the most awesome part

  • i wana get skull fucked by paul

  • Willy knob jobs?

  • whos that dancing Michael ?

  • Jeffrey Daniel

  • best version of this song with toto guys and louis johnson.lukather is playing his ibanez signature guitar.1984 excellent

  • Comment removed

  • fa a black dude i listen to da weirdest shit lol, dis shit could b used as a sample tho so im gud lol.

  • The original Silly Love Songs was sampled on a dance song called Come Rain Come Shine by Jenn Cuneta.

  • I wrote this mate

  • los 80's caquearon una increíble canción de los 70's

  • I think the message of the song is that silly love songs always have been, and always will be around, and this is illustrated by the intro's sound of the olden days -- what IS that sound? -- and the futuristic look of the band -- well, Paul's idea of a futuristic look, anyway.

And then there's the lyrics, of course.

  • Never thought about the intro sounds that way. Cool man.

  • 5:01 to 5:10 is kool 8-)
