The slow movement is my favorite part of the song. I love all of it, but that part just has an ethereal quality to it that the moving parts don't. Especially with the clarinet/bassoon/english horn canon and the soprano sax solo. It's weird though, cuz there's no oboe solos in the song.
@amirulamin91 Heh heh heh. The french horn soloist winces on that high G at the beginning because there's water in the valves. You can hear it in the sound, too.

I heard it in a concert of my town some days ago and now I love it! The saxo in 2:08 is so beautiful (L)
Well played... congratulations! :-D

Love it everytime I hear it :) This and Armenian Dances by Alfred Reed are my favorite songs. And Vesuvius (Ticheli) xD

@JEWong47
There are several oboe solos.

@ozzi94 Oh. Well I guess I don't hear them then. I've never played this song so I wouldn't know. I'd love to play it though ;)

I'm really starting to love Philip Sparke's music. Much of his work is used as test pieces for competition. This group sounds great.
This piece reminds me a bit of John Williams' music, at least when the tempo is moving along.

@cpjackson79 yeah but so much better and more advanced than anything John William's would write

Is that Billy Boyd on soprano sax ? :p

Amazing piece of music. I haven't played the wind band version - just the original brass band one. Sparke did a very good transcription here.
Very well performed too.
