I have been a fan since 1987 and have enjoyed every incarnation of Metroid. I'm frickin' excited to see the original Metroid on 3DS virtual console and can't wait for others.

Nintendo did nothing for Metroids 25th anniversary because, Metroid Other M didn't sell well in comparson to prior Metroid games but it still sold out well for any video game in its own right, and also Nintendo are still dispointed that all the idiot Metroid fanboys are so hot and bothered by the fact that Samus Aran is a human being with character flaws instead of a Lara Croft ripp off, she watched her parents burn to death at the age of 3 how could that not give her PSTD?.

Man this video really showed just how far the series has come. I felt really sad watching the last half of it, especially Daisuke Amaya's clip among those from people who created Other M, where at the end he mentions having gotten a lot of inspiration from the series, looking down while he says it. I feel that way almost all the time now, thinking about Metroid, just gotta look down and sigh. Defend all you want, Other M wasn't terrible, but it definitely failed to capture the Metroid vibe.

Happy Birthday Metroid, although never the biggest in the spotlight your games undoubtedly helped make Nintendo the big company they are today. The atmosphere of each game is incredible and exploration and arcade gameplay has been done well on every entry to date (besides the Other M, but thats not a real game in my mind, running around tapping A button or pointing at screen then seeing bad cutscenes lol).

I really dislike the way nintendo celebrates mario 25th anniversary with incomplete super mario all stars,it should have super mario world and super mario 64 included as well.i feel like they just want to make sales which is sad.

Nintendo now celebrates zelda 25th anniversary with symphony concert but those concert only happen in so few location around the world which is a shame.

metroid is probably my favourite nintendo series, as well as gaming franchise. yet nintendo doesn't show enough respect for it as they do with super mario, zelda. which is a shame. the game not only spawned the likes of halo, but thanks to samus, she was one of the very first female gaming protagonists who paved the way for chun-li of streefighter, bayonetta, lara croft, jill valentine of resident evil.

Dude, this video is amazing!! I'm a proud fan of Metroid too, though I didn't have the chance to play the other games besides Super Metroid, but I must say, everytime I start to search this game on the internet, I can get distracter an spend hours seeing Metroid content! I even forgot to go to sleep one day ahahueha but It's impossible to control. Samus is just a very strong character, charismatic, she shows us how to kick ass with style!
