Hi, My starter has the shaft that moves with the gear, people say the shaft is supposed to move up and down, ive soaked it in lube and it won't move up or down, please HELP!!!!
I tried to upload a photo. What I need is a drive gear that is about 6 inch in Diameter, has 48 teeth and is about 0.5 inch thick. The material is fibrous plastic and some teeth got chewed up due to misalignment of the wheel shaft and the drive pinion. Let me know if you have a source. Thanks.
I am in Canada and they are not so keen to help. I have tried my local small engine shops and they are not interested. They say the machine is too old and cannot get parts. Period. I will keep looking. Thanks.
That is how I found the part I installed but I wanted to keep a spare. Thanks for the tip. I will keep looking.
You are doing us all a favour by teaching us this stuff. Saves money and keeps old equipment working instead of throwing it out. Sustainability is the name of the game and money in my pocket.
Thanks for putting this DIY info on Youtube. Keeps me from spending money in the shop. I have a 24 year old Sears 24 inch snowblower. I had to find a replacement gear drive wheel and it is not available from Sears but found one in a handyman shop. Any ideas of where to look for a spare. Also I am thinking of switching the drive to chain and sprocket.
Great Info, If possible, could you do one of a Toro CCR2000, To change out the auger bearings as well as the auger padles. Short of a complete tear down Is there an easyer way to change these parts? Also do have an extra starter for an earlier model 826 Toro not sure what year there Is NO tags or stickers or engraved numbers on this unit,
I have a SnowBird snowblower from the 60's. It is a s-225 model, and the electric starter is missing completely. All I have is the red wire handing out. The black wire is connected somewhere inside the engine.
Can I just take the snowblower to the repair shop, and have them find me the parts somewhere? It does have a Tecumseh (model #: 100202) engine.
i tryed mine about two ago and when i did it made a werid noise then smoke camek from the part that has the gears in it. th smoke came from the wire its self and now when i push it it just clicks does this mean i need a new one
I got everything freed up. but the spring seems a bit weak and does not push the gear back like it should. Can the spring be upgraded to a heavier one?
Thanks buddy, I took the starter off this morning, and that was exactly the problem. A little liquid wrench on the shaft and threads and good as new. Now waiting on the Chicago snow. Thanks again!!!!

jgraham1971 2 years ago
not really, you can stretch it to give more pressure or try it the way it is, when the engine starts it should roll the gear back
donyboy73 2 years ago
Got it. I will test it before I install it back on the blower.. The recoil should be enough to send it back into place.
Thanks Jeff
