I believe they are introverted and shy, only because what they cannot do off stage can come out on stage. Meaning they can let loose, let their hair down and become anyone they want to be. I was raise in a home with a domineering father and make you go inside yourself and kinda loose your voice. I can see that writing song and performing giving them a voice, a voice to shout and say the thing not permitted off stage.
