@sundaybrunch21 true but if they were underaged i dont think they are but if they were they broke the rules so thats why its such a big deal like a team broke the rules or cheated to have the best team
@AndromedaAiken Yang Yilin actually was short. She looked tall because she was so thin. She was 4'11'' here. Jiang was 4'10'', Li 4'9'', and He 4'11'' as well.
she's an amazing gymnast with beautiful artistry but at the olympics she looked frighteningly skinny. she actually looks a little bit fuller here, which is good.
Yang Yilin is my favourite sportswoman/sportsgirl ever... she is my faovurite athlete of all time and I m in love with her! Yilin, I am your no 1 fan and I am your biggest fan!
the first part of the routine is really good. but as the routine goes on, she started to do some very boring dance moves, not really working with the music. I wish she could have done more with that becuase that's a very good music and she is great to watch.
@blokflip13 yeah the Romanians are now (for me) the country that produces more artistic gymnasts and keep high execution and difficulty. Just see Ana Porgars, and now is when I alugh at the people that said that romanian gymnasts are robots ha.
I'm not trying to say that the Chinese women aren't good. They're very good. What I'm saying is that they won't reach the level of dominance the men have. The field is too competetive (i.e. most female senior & junior world champions are from outside of China. That's not true for the men)
i couldn't believe that the US media was blaming the judges(they're not from countries that are good at gymnastics) when Nastia lost. I mean, do all food taster cooks. it make America and Americans looked so bad, and what's sadder is that the public buy that.
I think it is more fear of the Chinese gymnast, then jealous. Although it could be both. Nevertheless, i think my country now knows that the Olympics do not belong to them any more.
The only reason why America even came close is because we had a Russian trained gymnast, aka Luikin, and a Chinese trained gymnast aka Johnson. What we did was made the gymnastic world hate us with the bigotry and whining. Fact is, we have awoken a sleeping giant in the Chinese women gymnastic. You watch, the Chinese women gymnast will dominant the world. And by the way the team final was over, after China finished the bar routine. More specifically, when He Kexin finished.
Ha. It's ironic how the Olympics were intended to bring nations together in the spirit of competition and now it's been convoluted into a fight to demonstrate which country has the best political system. Shame.
It did bring the world together. Now it is the entire world who think we are a bunch of crybabies, because we cant take the ass whipping that the Chinese women gave us during the team final.
i agree, i couldn't believe that the US media was blaming the judges(they're not from countries that are good at gymnastics such as Australia) when Nastia lost. I mean, do all food tasters cooks? all mechanics racers? it made America and Americans looked so bad, and what's sadder is that the public buy that. ALL THE TIME!
The US team had multiple world AA medalists and even had a world AA medalist as an alternate. The thing is that the US got so many injuries. That screwed them over.
Let's consider:
Shayla Worley could have replaced Shawn Johnson on the uneven bars.
Chelsie Memmel could have replaced Alicia Sacramone on floor.
Alicia Sacramone is actually a world champion on the floor. So it would be kinda better if Sacramone could do the FX. But ur right Chellsie Memmel is pretty good too.
I know. Alicia's qualification performance on fx was not good (14.900). They had to choose between her and Bridget Sloan (14.1 fx). The choice was obvious.
Right now I think the Chinese Men will become the next Soviet Union, but the Chinese Women won't, at least for a while. Most of the worlds best female artistic gymnasts are from outside of China. E.g. Stelina Nistor, Jade Barbosa, Sandra Izbasa, Chellsie Memmel, Shawn Johnson, Vanessa Ferrari, Rebecca Bross, Ksenia Semenova, Nastia Liukin, etc.
Almost too stupid to respond to. Nistor just announced her retirement. Memmel will be too fat by 2012, Barbosa didnt even medal, and neither did Semenova. Johnson will be a struggling actress by 2012. Luikin has expressed doubts about 2012.
I'm not just talking about the Olympics. The world champs matter too. Judging those, here are my predictions for AA medal contenders for 2009. (assuming none of them retire and this does not account for the 2 per country rule)
You left out Deng Linlin, who placed 6th in all around, but could not compete because of the 2 per country rule. And who will no doubt tighten up her bar routine.
And you left out Jiang Yuyuan who would have beaten all of them in the Olympics had she not been injured.
And of course Yang, who will grow another 2-3 inches. And we know how the judging rule feels about tall gymnast. If those three stay healthy, they will dominate the world.
There's also Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, and Rebecca Bross (she gets first place in the AA and EF's in just about all of her competitions). They'll be competing just to get into the finals in 2009
There's also Jade Barbosa and Vanessa Ferrari. They've proved that they can medal in a world AA. Romania will probably also find a gymnast to take Steliana's place.
The 2009 World Championships are going to be very competetive.
In 2004 the Americans even had a smaller chance to win than in 2008!!!! The Romanians were perfect, no single mistake. But also in 2008 the chinese team was clearly the better one.
Very clean and confident exercise. UserSakura, she scored 15.275 and ranked 2nd in that competition. I don't remember wich difficulty score this routine had, but for sure she got a very high execution mark, not many places to deduct at all.
i'm gonna comment on this once more but you guys just need to stop insulting her. you're just americans who like to insult asian girls because of how skinny they are or how weird they look. well they are not so shut up and get out of youtube. don't call her a b****. it's you who's the b****.
seriously people if they are old enough or not they totally deserved the team gold. just because your younger did it mean you didnt work as hard? didnt put as many hours in? and the whole being lighter thing is dumb cause they also have less muscle
@sundaybrunch21 its not that. It that if they would let anyone compete at any age and every one got to do so it would change the out come of the whole score...look at shawn johnson in 2007 pan am and look at her in the 2008 olympics...even a year makes a difference. Things become harder as you get older...look at Shannon in 1992 compared to shannon in 1996..big difference, so yeah it does matter. They need to change the rules and everyone should be allowed to do so not just one team.
@sundaybrunch21 Well, often people can master all sorts of skills before they hit puberty, and then they need to find their centre again. In figure skating, for example, when Michelle Kwan grew 2 inches, Frank Carroll had to basically reteach her to jump. I imagine that it is a similar thing with gymnastics.
That said, if the independent enquiry found they were of suitable age, what's the fuss about? I think Yang Yilin in particular is beautiful to watch. And you're right, they work very hard
omg u guys are so stupid. if you don't like her than why are u watching her videos and commenting and saying that she sucks. well she doesn't so get the heck out of here u pathetic losers.
nope she will be 16 on the 26th of august... and it says that to be aloud to compete in the olympics. you must be 16 but you can turn 16 anytime that year.
Ugh... That's twice now that Yang's been robbed in Beijing! First losing the Silver to Shawn Johnson in the AA - I love Shawn but her Amanar should not have been credited! And now she has to settle for Bronze on UB too? She was clearly cleaner than He Kexin today and should have taken Gold there.
Based on today's UB performances, it should have been Yang 1st, Liukin 2nd and He 3rd.
oh my gosh, I'm so glad someone else thinks so.. I couldn't believe the commentators in the US ((on nbc)) were so.. reluctant to talk about it realisitically. I was SO SURPRISED when Yang's UB score was below NL and HK.
I'm not super up-to-date on the scoring and systems , but considering they all had the same SV, I was VERY confused by the rankings..
I konw alot of people are questioning her age,but as a asian girl,I have to say something.I'm 21 years old,but I still look like a middle school girl, and a great part of asian girls have such kind of situation
well. yes. I guess they are. Remember that when someone steals your wife or your job. I think they're the best gymnasts...but its the same thing as steroid use. Are you okay with that, too?
Formula80808: why is it that China is the ONLY asian country being accused of underaged performers ? Japan , Korea, Philipians haven't been accused at all, and all their performers all look 16+ and they are asian as well.
i like the fact that USA won GOld and Silver i mean they won but i think that Yang Yilin was robbed she didnt deserve bronze her performance was beautiful she atleast should have gotten silver but I like Sean too so I really cant complain that much
Her legs are so thin...i m scared to watch them.....isn't gymnastics is about well grown bodies in good eye catching shape performing routine............she is kid....she needs more time to get develop n then perform
Although still better than Nastia's double front, what with it's 0.3 off for cowboy...and then sometimes a step AND a deep squat...she actually goes negative with that. Jest Seyin...
apolyton was simply making an opinion using a comparison. You cannot scold somebody for doing so. Everyone is so strict on commenting here. But I think Yilin was amazing. music was beautiful, execution was beautiful, although she did stumble a couple times, it was wonderful.
as I see...yang is most strong contender in Beijing olympics aa....because her ridiculus A point(UB:7.7)..I don't really like her UB routine.but point is just point...except vault she is the best other than shawn and nastia. another chinese Jiang yuyan?...umm..
She is not competing this comp...um I think coaches don't expect her largely.
Jiang Yuyuan can actually do a 2 1/2 yurchenko vault and did beat Yang Yilin in the AA finals at the Chinese Nationals just a month ago. I think they are very close... the coaches are probably taking them to different comps as they would only be allowed a certain number of competitors and they need to give them all experience etc
I see your point and I'm not sure of the answer - I guess its a coaching decision... but she definitely performed very strongly at the nationals and I'll be surprised if she doesn't make the team.
I think they're trying to rest her. She's been tested already and she has experience. Sui Lu for example needs to compete more so than her. Plus, they're trying to protect her injury she sustained earlier this year. She is China's 2nd best AAer and probably top three in artistry.
Obviously all of her pirouette skills begin in different grips for her to earn bonus, but can anyone clarify as to which skills she is performing? Bi, Ling, Lin, Tkatchev; invert full, pike Jaeger; and then a front 1.5 in reverse grip before the dismount?
right now... watching the americans at the 2011 visa champs.. the choreo is good and stuff.. but they're not like the chinese who can do this well(:
i loveee chinese gymnasts <3 they're amazing!

well. yes. I guess they are. Remember that when someone steals your wife or your job. I think they're the best gymnasts...but its the same thing as steroid use. Are you okay with that, too?

Formula80808: why is it that China is the ONLY asian country being accused of underaged performers ? Japan , Korea, Philipians haven't been accused at all, and all their performers all look 16+ and they are asian as well.
moogle516 3 years ago
Because they weren't a threat for Gold.

Are you joking?

Although still better than Nastia's double front, what with it's 0.3 off for cowboy...and then sometimes a step AND a deep squat...she actually goes negative with that. Jest Seyin...
ApolytonGP 3 years ago
why do you have to bring up nastia?
that has nothing to do with this video or what anyone has commented. you are just bashing nastia for no reason
nayanartsha 3 years ago
You're right. I was wrong to do so.
ApolytonGP 3 years ago 4
apolyton was simply making an opinion using a comparison.

She is not competing this comp...um I think coaches don't expect her largely.
yekate123 3 years ago
Jiang Yuyuan can actually do a 2 1/2 yurchenko vault and did beat Yang Yilin in the AA finals at the Chinese Nationals just a month ago. I think they are very close... the coaches are probably taking them to different comps as they would only be allowed a certain number of competitors and they need to give them all experience etc
lizzle7654 3 years ago
I respect your opinion...but why she did't compete international comp. after nationals?
cheng fei, yang, xiao sha,li shanshan, deng,he kexin all competed after national...
yekate123 3 years ago
I see your point and I'm not sure of the answer - I guess its a coaching decision... but she definitely performed very strongly at the nationals and I'll be surprised if she doesn't make the team.
lizzle7654 3 years ago
I think they're trying to rest her. She's been tested already and she has experience. Sui Lu for example needs to compete more so than her. Plus, they're trying to protect her injury she sustained earlier this year. She is China's 2nd best AAer and probably top three in artistry.
richieartwork 3 years ago
i love her bar routine how can you say you dont like it

xFiGHTF0RL0VE 3 years ago 3
Obviously all of her pirouette skills begin in different grips for her to earn bonus, but can anyone clarify as to which skills she is performing? Bi, Ling, Lin, Tkatchev; invert full, pike Jaeger; and then a front 1.5 in reverse grip before the dismount?
