The American agrarian transition, pushed by the industrial revolutions, was fueled by wind, water, and steam. In the early 1900s, these forms of energy were largely replaced by petroleum products. It is hard to believe that it has taken 100 years--fully a century--to find a replacement energy source. Though this briefing forecasts a need for the largest backbone infrastructure investment in the history of the world, we must find the way to make the investment forecast for 2020!
