Oh my god! I've seen Sunset Boulevard only twice...the first time in London (1995) with the wonderful Betty Buckley, and then in 1999 (the US Nat'l Tour w/Petula Clark). Unfortunately the staging for the US Tour was changed...so I had to rely on my memory of that the finale should look like...until now. Thank you so much for putting this on!
Yes, the staging was changed in the 1998 US tour due to the astronomical cost of transporting the sets around US and Canada and then taking ages to set up in a new venue. There was a first US tour in 1996 with the wonderful Linda Balgord, but it closed down after only a handful of venues due to those reasons. I have the 1st US tour, which is EONS better than the second attempt. I'll try posting it soon.
Thanks for the response. I'm sure the 1st Tour was better, because the one I saw was horrible. The sets were minimal, props were cartoonish, and Petula Clark's version of Norma D., was (in my humble opinion), not at the level of the other actresses who have been blessed with the opportunity to play her.

Yes, Petula Clark was a disaster, officially the worst Norma Desmond of all time. But I think Helen Schneider provides an awesome antidote to Pet!
