  • Great song J.B. now this is real music, a true classic that never gets old !

  • i loved this song when i was a youngin ~ i am very happy to find it on the internet thingy :o) ~

  • I remember back when this song was a big hit on the radio.Still one of my favorite JB songs.

  • 9 people never went to get their eyes checked

  • Okay, I love this song, too, and generally prefer music from the 60's and 70's, but to claim that no one today actually sings and plays real instruments is just absurd. There is as much actual musical talent out there today as there ever was. There's ALSO a lot more crap, but to deny that good music is still being made is just nostalgic snobbery.

  • @ajm5007 I'm wondering about who, exactly, you might be refering to. Back then talent was chock-a-block, diverse across all spectrums and genres and very productive. There ARE some good newer People coming along, but the Corrinne Bailey-Rae s, the Jackie Evanchos, the Civil Wars', the Taylor Swifts, the Anna Glassmans are FEW and FAR BETWEEN. And grossly under appreciated for the most part. WHO is making the biggest money? It's "Beat the Bitch Down" SKANKS.

  • i love this song it show in the film my girl

    so gooood!!!

  • It's later than it seems.

  • criminal minds brought me here

  • Just GREAT music wished we were 20 again!!! the 70, 80 and even part of the 90ties were the best times of my life music wise!

  • Terrific song and thanks for downloading it .... Jerry,Charlotte, NC

  • Music that brings emotions not a headache or the words 'what did he say?'

  • It's not too often I say a song is "perfect," but this is one is JUST PERFECT.

  • @KennyandGretel I have to agree. I have absolutely no criticism for this song.

  • Nine people wish they could have written a song this awesome.

  • AHHHH how the time has passed ,Ty for the memories Good and bad..

  • 9 dislikes, maybe are indios or zulu'

  • 9 people left their eyes open too long

  • I just turned 28, but I've been listening to Jackson all my life. He is as important to me as Dylan or the Beatles. Jackson has his own way that captures that true human condition...at least for me. Most inspired songwriter ever!

  • @jpf1138 Amen.

  • great song

  • Dr. My Eyeeeeeeeeees can't believe there are 9 dislikes!

  • I'D SWEAR UP & DOWN, THAT AT THE TIME THIS CUT CAME OUT, IT WEAS MORE OF A SOUL/JAZZ CUT, THAN IT WAS ROCK....

  • Summer 2001, 20 years old, getting off work framing up houses in Northern Minnesota and jamming to this and other Jackson Browne in my old truck while cruising by forested lakes.

  • Jackson Browne is such a great songwriter and performer

  • my mom told me, everytime I hear this song I WILL have a good day when I was 6, I'm 24 now. Even if Ihave to put it on my self IT HAS NEVER FAILED:) RIP THE BEST MOM IN THE WORLD - Katie Fischer :):):):):):):)

  • Man , ASU Spring 1972, warm nights , beautiful, tanned girls and songs like this. Heaven!

  • @vanislefan1 I was there, too...great place to be but I didn't appreciate it at the time. Jackson Browne, I did appreciate him, though.

  • The state of the current music industry is a joke, while good music like this doesn't get the appreciation it deserves as much anymore. Sigh.

  • @muse2813 LOL! I also had a '73 Nova SS hatchback. And when I got my first Pioneer Supertuner installed, this song came on the radio! 1978!

  • @Adequates63 aahh yes, the Supertuner.

  • @Adequates63 im sure muse2813 can testify to this. that they stop making novas in 72 . after 72 we refer to them as future toasters and soup cans ;)

  • Until I opened my heart, I never knew what this song meant. Thank you, Jackson Brown

  • the savage life that has been mine is eased by this and other pained reflective music

  • got to see this...or at least the running tour...shit those days beat all of our asses...damn..i still wonder how and why i'm still standin!!

  • good sex music

  • This is real music. Not only does it sound better, but the people were actually singing and playing instruments, unlike today where everyone uses crappy electronics to cover their untalented voices and stuff.

  • @Eiravati Not everyone. Maybe you're not looking in the right places; otherwise you're probably finding exactly what you're looking for. Look for crap and you'll find it.

  • This song and running on empty are classics. Both have a sort of compelling self-sorry mood.

  • Jesse Ed Davis on guitar. R.I.P. brother

  • This song reminds me of riding the schoolbus home on half-day Wednesdays. Seems like this song was always on when it was raining.

  • One great piece of poetry.

  • Amazing, I'm fifteen and I was first introduced to this song when I got the Jackson 5 album. Lost the cd, and had to look up the song on YouTube...

and thus, I found this version :)

  • I've always loved this song, but never knew what it was called. Then Criminal Minds came around :)

  • Comment removed

  • @emogodesscici Rocking

  • One of the first songs I remember from growing up, and still one of my favorites.

  • Dude I'm black and i live in east Sacramento, CA! But I love this! This generation is going down!

  • Grew up with Jackson Browne still love him and his music today !! Thanks for the great memories :)

  • What a great song, also a great journey so far I really enjoy his music and also the comments i can relate. Thanks for posting lyrics.

  • I think I've loved every single Jackson Browne song I've ever heard, and this is no exception.

  • Great music from an underrated musician. His works are some of the best from his era. Thanks for posting. Takes me back to the days of the FM converter and my favorite girl under my arm. Jamming with Jackson during a more simple time.

  • who the f dislikes this song? i supposes the same ppl who don't know who george carlin is....or that he's dead.

  • lol at all the hipsters.

  • que buena rola como para escucharla fumandoce un buen cigarro

  • Girl Talk!

  • Pops used to put this on in the car when I was just a youngin'. I heard this before I was allowed to watch network television lol. Thumbs up!!

  • Where are the Lyrics???

  • @Rastafari6 in the track info "show more" thingy

  • I had this on a 45. Cant even tell you what was on the other side though...

  • i`ve never seen Criminal Minds but have been a JB fan for years.

  • I remember as a kid hearing Jackson talk about writing 'Doctor My Eyes.' He wrote it on a broken piano and I 'hear' that every time I listen to the opening of this song. And it isn't easy to play it either. Many fine pianists can't recreate this sound. I've fallen way short myself after working on it for weeks.

The most beautiful things in our music are often quite simple, ideas reduced down their essence. Yeah, I love this, and him.

  • The song is an oldie but a goodie.......When I was growing up I always listened to this song, but now that I am older and wiser.... listening to the words.........SO TRUE !!!!!!!

  • Calvin's life

  • Doctor my eyes. Tell me what is wrong. Was I unwise to leave them open for so long?

  • Reminds me of eaitng pizza and playing pinball in Harvard Square back in '72...

  • Reminds me of eaitng pizza and playing pinball in Harvard Square in '72...

  • One of the finest songs ever written.

  • heard it about 40 years ago when it came out and I was a teenager.

  • I saw Jackson Browne live a couple weeks ago and he played this song so well, it was amazing c:

  • Why'd ya' have to be a wife beater?

  • @MrDirtyratmiller FYI: He did not beat Daryl Hannah. She was a psycho. And he wasn't married to her.

  • @MrDirtyratmiller , He was not..! It is one of those stories that "stick"...Check in the internet and see for yourself.

  • @MrDirtyratmiller, is that a rhetorical question?

  • i love this song! :0]

  • dear jb would that crying was the heaviest of my burdens xxxxoooo green

  • haters hate! beautiful song

  • LOVELOVELOVE

  • i wish peoples eyes could be opeaned... they might realize how fucked up our world is. Oh, well. for now we have Jackson Browne.

  • This song really brings me back to the end of innocence as a child.

  • i remember my dad put this on on a long car ride and i kept replaying it. that was when i was 6. Now i'm 15 and i still put it on every once in awhile. i llove it

  • i think its about going through hard times and just seeing too much crap that doesn't make sense and he has grown tired of it all.

  • Im going to see him in May for a acoustic show!

  • this song is absolutely amazing(: im a little unsure of the meaning of it though. help?

  • @z28931 (cont'd)

Like take something like rap (which I hate): you can hear the lyrics, but it's always like "put a bullet in the stripper's head."

When I hear lyrics like that, I feel like tracking down the song artist and whacking him one.

And then you get the majority of metal (which I also hate) where it sounds like they're gargling and dying instead of singing.

  • @z28931

Thank you. I'll listen to pretty much anything where:

-The vocal and sound effects don't distract you from hearing the lyrics.

-The lyrics aren't disgusting and sinful.

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song BEFORE Criminal Minds.

  • @FraxinusDipetala I've never seen Criminal Minds, so I'm gonna say yes

  • @FraxinusDipetala What's a "Criminal Minds"??

  • @FraxinusDipetala What's Criminal Minds?

  • @mebemike a reaaaaaaaally good showw(:

  • @mebemike WHATT?!?!??!?

  • @GlamourAddiction725 [sighs]... I was being facetious.

  • @FraxinusDipetala ...just saw that episode earlier today..weird huh!!!

  • @FraxinusDipetala Hey, there was a musical life before television got such a big part in so many ppl's dealy routine. Do you also want to know if ppl knew the Who before CSI? I mean, what purpose lies in that?

  • @FraxinusDipetala What the fuck is criminal minds????

  • Also, what is it about music that people don't like music that's older than them?

I'm the only kid in my entire school of 10,000 people (Okay, there's like two others) who listens to music from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and early 90's.

But whatever. I can't get enough of music like this!

  • @Adolif4 That's because you recognize that great music has been made for many years - I applaud your open mind and mature attitude - You are probably starving for music where you can hear the lyrics without stupid rap f-bombs etc..and you enjoy melodic songs. Good on you!!!!

  • @Adolif4 Don't feel bad bud, I'm 23 and in middle school and high school people didn't understand my musical views. But then again to this day I still don't understand theirs. Just pass on the good music to your children in the future. People like you are what will keep "real" music alive. Fuck beiber and gaga. God bless you man.

  • @Adolif4 Good music is good music. I was 14 when this came out. I have Shinedown, Offspring, Seether, Cage the elephant and other new and newer groups on my favorites. I also have Grieg and Wagner. You show wisdom beyond your age. Keep it up and keep on Rockin. Young people like you give me hope for the future of our great country

  • Sometimes I wonder about the reasoning behind disliking videos like this.

Think about it. There's alot of music I just plain old hate, but I don't waste my time by disliking them, do I?

I'm guessing either the dislikers have alot of time to kill, or they find it very entertaining to piss people off, for whatever reason.

    P.S. This song rocks!

  • @Adolif4 The 6 dislikes are what we like to call wrong.

  • LIKE IF CRIMINAL MINDS BROUGHT YOU HERE!
