  • stop hating guys.. it's a history, learn from it, deal with it. Okay? Time changed a lot, indeed, and stop living in the past hatred. I'm Indonesian, i love my country and I love peace.

  • wow, the hatred.... but I still wish Pemkot Jakarta rebuild the old town like Kota and preserve old colonial building. And they need to start the mass transit subway, ASAP.

  • I loooove black people and I believe in Islam but practice Judaism

  • The Dutch should of fully colonized and started aborting Indonesian babies so they could keep The territory...

  • @Indoscott Please, you have acces to proper education. Read up on the colonial history. The whites, chinese and mixed people who had to leave Indonesia or were marginalised were Inonesians too. They had to emigrate to a country(NL) where they didn't even have voting-rights and couldn't take their wealth with them. Independence wasn't brave, it was a stupid move(forced by the US/cold war) Also, if you are a Scotsman who really thinks the UK is a bad thing for Scotland then you are really stupid.

  • Gr8 post...many thanx

  • tering jezus kanker waarom ken geen enkele nederlander fatsoenlijk engols typen

  • @Zovlanov what atomic bomb taste like ?

  • @malingsia au ah gelap.... :-)

  • Listen up i'm dutch and in our history books once stood great stories about the east-indies but we also learndt it had a darker side, war and explotation. but in the 20s it slowly changed we learnd explotation is not the solution it is a crime and there changed a lot we started building railroads an hospitals and the training of a javanian army. now that time is long ago and indonesians have their freedom in their own country, so they can dicide whats best for themselfs.

  • @Zovlanov / Emangnya kamu itu siapa? Klau budak spt kamu, lbh baik pergi dan tinggal di Suriname aja...Budak spt kamu nggak akan laku di sini!!

Indonesia people are fool? Lha kamu aja lbh goblok...gaya2 pake Bhs Inggris, tp tatabahasanya gobloknya minta ampun!! Yg penting, nenek moyangmu "anjing2" skr sudah kabur terbirit2 dari Indonesia! Kamu mau menyusul? MERDEKA!!

    Enakan nonton film unyil...lbh lucu!!

  • @FloristheKing I think it happened in the mid -19th century, when the Dutch looked at Indonesian condition with its bad conditions and the politician at that time formed the concept of reciprocation, is where the Dutch government provided training to Indonesian society.

  • let's learn the good thing from dutch and throw away the bad one.

Sekali merdeka tetap merdeka!! Jaya Indonesia...bangsat perampok dan penjajah, serta anak cucunya!!

  • hai dutch and indonesian...lets we make love and maried then no more country of dutch and indonesia but become duchin country.......or induch country ....what do u say guys...much much better than making war though ...lol....i d better tied up with dutch than with malaysia ....xixixixixix

  • @ruchimat71 We have lots of Indo mixed Indonesian-Dutch marriages and families in the Netherlands. Many of such families. They do not support extrem Indonesian nationalism of Sukarno and Suharto though, nor do they advocate Javanese colonization of innocent West Papua, which desires to become a state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Even today, after 48 years of Javanese oppression!

  • @IustitiaPax. Yes, the mixed families did not support our heroes as they all have Dutch family. Do you want our country like Suriname? Welfare? Prospereous? A golden country? Your propaganda is useless!!

  • @Phosfert If Indonesia had remained part of the Kingdom, Indonesia would today be rich. Instead, you imported neo-colonialism from the USA's companies, who plundered your oil and wealth under Sukarno. The social policy of the Dutch government in 1930 and 1946 was far better than any of the 60 years of Indonesian nationalist regimes. You may ignore it, but poverty is still rampant, and famines are more common than at anytime under glorious Dutch rule. I am sorry for you that truth hurts.

  • @IustitiaPax / Yes if Indonesia have remained part of the Kingdom, Indonesia would be rich today, like Suriname?????????????? You told a lie guy.......kakakakakkkk....

You have to know when Dutch invaded our land, most of our ancestors wore out of odds and ends, ate carcass, in hunger and torpid. If you were a teacher of Indonesia-Dutch past history, people would convulse with laughter!! You have to know that all Dutch rules have been eliminated in our country since they are harm for us today.

  • @Phosfert It seems to me that you don't know anything about history or law at all. All the comments you made to this video show that you know nothing about Indonesian history. This is probably because you were educated in Indonesia. Don't believe anything written in Indonesian historybooks, most of it is propaganda. Also, Suriname is poor BECAUSE it is no longer a colony. All the educated people (and their money) fled the country after independence.

  • @tommyk1214 , It seems to me that you don't know anything about history or law at all. All the comments you made to this video show that you know noting about Indonesia hostory. It must be because YOU WERE EDUCATED IN COLONIAL COUNTRY. Don't believe anything written in colonialist history books, because most of this are COLONIALIST PROPOGANDA.. Also, Suriname is poor BECAUSE it was too long time under a colony. All educated puppet of colonist (and their money) fled our country after independence

  • @Phosfert Yes, of course, the worlds scientific community is wrong about everything and the Indonesian nationalist narrative is the way things happened/are. If you don't want to differentiate between the cultuurstelsel and the ethische politiek era's then yes, Dutch colonialism was evil. And Suriname actually has a GDP per capita twice as high as Indonesia's GDP, not bad for a country with LESS than half a million inhabitants. Indonesia is still poor, with high income inequality. We are just sad

  • @tommyk1214, Thanks a lot for your sadness, but we, Indonesian people, really don't ask your sadness!! GDP is a standard of welfare for countries? Welfare is not Math, but WELFARE is: Freedom X Security X Money X Harmony X Natural Resources. Your mind should be changed when you don't want to be considered as a neo Evil!!

  • Oh and propaganda doesn't work in the scientific community in developed countries. As people are FREE to publish anything obvious propagandist claims will be called out and refuted. But why am I debating reason and science with someone who is most likely a muslim idiot. Wahabbist islam and Javanese nationalism is what is holding Indonesia back, not its colonial past.

  • @tommyk1214, Most likely a Wahabist Muslim idiot? Ha ha, Why don't you understand about the Nationalist? Let me teach you: In Indonesia, there is no different between Christ, Muslim, Hinduist, Budhist, and other religious people. They are all Nationalists framed with "single-interest relationship". Wahabist Islam & science? You don't understand what the essence of Wahaby, Sunny, Syiah & Sufy in Islam. They are all anti-colonialist and slavery!! Your IDIOT thought should have been thrown away!

  • @IustitiaPax / You just get story from your government, not real fact and history. Come to Indo and I show you how my grand father died because of your real terrorist "Colonial/Dutch". Because of Soekarno and other Indo heroes, colonial "Dutch" fleed to save their life!! Your story in fantastic and fantacy. I know what you said represents the real terrorist! Yes, we import USA, not Dutch because Dutch have been robber for over 3 centuries! Don't be jealous, man!!

  • @Phosfert Agreed it's not always about prosperity and welfare, it's about self-determination and dignity

  • @IustitiaPax...i understand if u guys hate soekarno but i also understand why soekarno really hate dutch too...what was happening to my grandma is sample ..my grandma told me that if u go to beach in jakarta there was two lane/ zone ..it was saying one for white people ( dutch ) the other one is for inlander and dog....that the thing that my grandma always sad...but she said just learn from the past and we never follow what the dutch did to us...

  • @ruchimat71 I do not "hate" Sukarno, but I condemn his breaking of vows, his Indonesian nationalist extremism and his refusal of a Confederation status for Indonesia within the kingdom of the Netherlands. It was just supported by the USA, who wanted Indonesian oil and Sukarno's support. As for "discrimination': this story of your grandmother is exaggerated, because most Dutch-Indo population were entirely racially mixed with Inlanders and Belanda. I think your grandmother spoke an allegory.

  • @ruchimat71 I would like a proof of that alleged racial discrimination. All Indos I know were from wealthy families, and surely not going to beaches with dogs swimming there.

  • @lustitiaPax: Although my mother's side of the family is from the Dutch colonial era (Semarang, 1939), I can't agree with your comments.

The Dutch were expelled from Indonesia for a reason and it certainly wasn't for being "nice" to the Indonesians! We - yes, the Dutch - also drained the country of everything it had, so of course it took a while for Indonesia to get back on its feet!

But to both sides: don't hold a grudge over the past, it's counter-productive. Indonesia Raya, merdeka!

  • @myatus Sorry, but you only judge the colonial past by its negative eras and sides. Of course, I know there was violence and the Aceh Wars under Van Heutsz etc., but the harmony from 1900-1941 was there. So were Dutch schools for all natives. Sukarno studied at the cost of Dutch tax payers. And the cultivation of land in the Indies also benefitted all natives. The expulsion of the Dutch was a crime against humanity. Sukarno broke all promises. Taqqiyah?

  • Hi @IustitiaPax! your arguments saying Sukarno studied under the cost of Dutch tax prayer" is fool to avoid the greed of rubbing down our country for several centuries!

  • @Phosfert Nonsense. Rubbing down? The radyas, Indo elite and businessmen profited far more from the Dutch East Indies than any of my ancestors, Dutch farmers inside Europe. And still, Sukarno studied at continental Dutch universities. You also forget the educational institutions brought to the Dutch East Indies by the Dutch Roman Catholic Church's charity institutions, and you forget the Dutch infrastructure and state education for Inlander youth. Did Saudis or Americans ever finance you? NO!

  • @IustitiaPax . Yo must know all institutions, infrastructures and education built by Dutch have been smashed down by our people. All of them have not benefial except for infernal history monument. I know Dutch built railway stations, but what for? Were they for Indonesia? No! They were for colonial beneficial!

Dutch arranged plantations, built sugar factory, etc, what for? For Indonesia? No! They were for colonial and children in Netherland. How much costs for Soekarno's education?

  • @Phosfert The Dutch cultivated your lands. This is a fact. Investments were also for the native population. Today, Indonesia is poor. Your radical Indonesian nationalist propaganda does not convince me at all. Facts speak louder than words. Hartelijke groet.

  • @IustitiaPax . In fact, our condition is better than we were under Terrorist of Dutch, guy! In fact, Dutch should be poor if it would not invade and rob our land. I prefer to be radical Indonesia nationalis than as your slave! Investment? hahahahaha.....my dog also howls, guy! Btw, are a 5-year old child or......because your story is funny. Geeerrr!!

  • @IustitiaPax / Investment for the native people? Meooooong........

Why don't you use your logic and fact? Is there any colonialsm and terrorist having a good conduct and intention? If so, all over Asia countries would be eager to be your slave, baby...

Sorry, I can't reply you again as you must be a five-years-old child. Sekali merdeka tetap merdeka!! Ganyang penjajah!

  • Comment removed

  • @Zovlanov / "THEY'RE USING OUR MONEY!!" Goblokmu kok nggah habis2! Ngaku2 duit kamu, tp ngolok2 & merendahkan Indonesia. Apa kamu punya uang disni? hik...hik..hik...Klau you nggak punya uang dan pekerjaan...sono bilang sm tuanmu di negeri penjajah!! Pakai kata "I love Indonesia" lagi, ganti aja "I'm a dog loving colonizer", itu lbh PAS DAN SOPAN. Bicara nasionalisme & moralitas lagi. Sono makan sisa2 sang penjajah...kakaakkk.

  • @Phosfert furthermore, The Dutch never ruled Indonesia directly. The REAL people abusing the populace and the people who actually OWNED the indonesian people(as slaves) were the Indonesian nobles. THEY made the people work and SOLD all the produce to the Dutch. This status-quo remains to this day(nowadays people call it corruption). Maybe you would like to compare some colonies that did maintain close ties with their European colonizers and see how they are doing economically nowadays(Singapore)

  • @tommyk1214 , Furthermore, how Dutch ruled Indonesia as Cultuurstelsel (People as slaves) led by General Johannes van den Bosch in 1830. COLONIALIST made the people work and SOLD all the natural resources to Europe countries. Maybe you would like to compare some colonies that have remained experiencing bitter life until today: Suriname. Is it because they maintain close ties with their colonizer? Look and compare how condition of our country today to the time when it was under the colonialist.

  • @IustitiaPax I know there's been positive sides to it as well, of course. But you portrayed like everything was "rozengeur en manenschijn". When I see pictures of "Inlanders Verboden" at swimming pools for example, I doubt its so. Najah, soedah. Laten we ons er maar niet te druk over maken... I love Indonesia, I love The Netherlands - I don't pick between the two.

  • @myatus I understand what you were saying, but this class justice was not racism. Indo Dutch and the Indonesian radja elites could swim with the Dutch always. It was a class society, but by 1900s, this was being curtailed. Ever more, social development was promoted. Indonesian nationalism prevented enacting this policy. And is US neo-colonialism without any social responsibility so much better? Decolonization was an American toy too, for their bigger companies.

  • Yes the Dutch government apologized but have refused to pay compensation to victims because of the length of time that has passed since the massacre by Dutch soldiers of 431 Indonesians. There was a similar demand for an apology and compensation filed by the Dutch people to Japan in 1992 over the Japanese treatment of 300,000 Dutch citizens during its occupation of Southeast Asia from 1942-1945. It is even older than the Indonesian case and Japan responded positively.

  • @Wallekot12 . The case of what Dutch did like robber, eventhough they were real greedy robber. Imagine how poor when Dutch is obliged to pay compensation to millions of Indo people killed, robbed and raped by Dutch. Let's count how many people (Christian & Islam) killed by Westerling? 40,000 innocent people! It happened just in one region (Celebes) within 3 months (Dec 1946 - Feb 1947). Is that reason Celebes want imperialist comeback what @IustitiaPax said? Its an idiot comment, isn't it?

  • @Phosfert I said that the Christian regions in Celebes all desire Dutch economic ties and colonial rule. I know of KNIL military excesses and reprisals for the Indonesian nationalist partisan warfare too. I know, I know. I regret these incidents. It was not intended murder though. Did you count the Dutch and Indo babies and children massacred by Indonesian nationalists?

  • @IustitiaPax / Let's compare how many victims between colonials and indonesians!. Christian regions? Who? How many? Don't bring regions when talking Nationalism and Freedom of Indonesia! I know you are christian, but I just remind you that all of Indonsians having variety of regions, norm, culture, language and ethnic groups have lived in mutual life and peace since Majapahit era!

When Dutch invaded and robbed us, all well orders were destroyed! haven't you seen how colonialism brutality?

  • @Phosfert I did not say that Christians did not support INdonesian nationalism, but most did not, in fact. Timor, North Celebes, Moluk Islands, parts of Borneo, Batak, Semarang, they all supported the Dutch rule. But of course sultans in Floris etc. did so too. There were also pro-Dutch Muslim Indonesians of course. Colonialism was not brutal after 1895 AD anymore. Social development was ensured. These are all facts you want to ignore. Hindia Belanda!

  • @IustitiaPax/ Colonialism was not brutal after 1895 AD anymore? What about man-slaughter by Westerling "Dutch Militery" in Celebes within 3 months (Dec 1946 - Feb 1947? How about man-slaughter of hundreds of people in Karawang in 9 Dec 1947 by Dutch. It weren't brutal?. If you said those heartbreaking histories were not brutal, I could say them as barbaric treatment! On your sentence "after 1895 AD anymore", it could be concluded that before 1895, Dutch had been brutal in Indonesia. Is it right?

  • @Phosfert Westerling executed men who supported the Nationalist terror campaign against the legitimate Dutch rule on South Celebes. About 3,400 persons were executed. A large number. It was a bloody war. You never mention the 10,000s of Dutch children and women massacred by Indonesian extremists in these years, do you. During military campaigns, people are shot and killed. Especially in illegal ununiformed partisan warfare. The INdonesian nationalists wore no uniforms. They were terrorists.

  • @Phosfert The Indonesian atrocity propaganda against Col. Raymond Westerling is mostly invented propaganda. Sukarno hated Westerling because Westerling supported Maluku and Papua and Timor and Bali independence/autonomy. You only know these stories from Indonesian newspapers. You do not know witnesses like I do from Batavia and Soekaboemi.

  • @Zovlanov / Bahasa inggrismu amburadul, goblok!! Gitu kok mau ngatur negara!!

  • @Phosfert You do not even realize, that only US neo-colonialism, the Cold War, and the corruption of some Dutch leaders with Indonesian heroin and cocaine traders and drugs traffickers enabled Indonesian independence in 1949? It was only that. The majority of the subjects desired to return to autonomy under DUTCH RULE, not under Javanese Muslim dictators.

  • @Phosfert

There is a difference betwen Indo and Indonesian

  • @Wallekot12 / Yes, Indonesia have never whined and asked for compensation!

  • Remember the Dutch massacre in Rawagede!

  • @Wallekot12 , I agree with you when Rawagede, Kerawang, Bekasi people were decimated by Dutch in 9 Dec 1947 when Indo's barrack of struggle was led by Markus Kustario (Christian Hero!!) . This disnonor tragedy made by imperialist was admitted by Dutch Parliament when they visited Indos & met with victims and realitves at Hotel Mariot Jakarta in Nov 19, 2008. Parliament opologized in that case. It will be a pitty case when any Dutchmen are not ashamed and don't opoligize like @IustitiaPax did!!

  • what brother ? you shitty whitey boy ? u enslaved us then u say brother ?,,, yeah rite, you put billions but u took zillions, not to mention atrocities u made in 1740 when ur country slain chinese decendents in public massacre, and what u did in javan war in 1800s, as indonesian, i will take revenge... no mercy at all

  • i love indonesia, i m from north sumatra, and i love how we indonesian fuck dutch out of our country, and look now, indonesia's economy is becoming stronger, our fast growing development is 2nd largest in the world after china, looks netherland, hahahahhaaa, helped because they have a greatest red light district business areas in the world, where is their nationalism, selling themselves as prostitute. what a shame on queen beatrix fucked bitch

  • @andrebangun22

why dont you come to the netherlands then? ill let you feel how much ive missed you! we have put billions in youre economy and infrastructure, so with out us you would be as fuckt as africa, little bit more respect to youre former brother please

  • tha dutch empire was quite impressive back then, indonesia was one of the biggest colonies in the world, ruled and built by some 100.000 dutch, what an achievement!

And then there was dutch rule in Surinam, South-africa (until 1994) and now all what is left is the dutch west-indies, some tiny islands in the carribean..... what a demise...but that´s the way of history.....

  • As for the other Indonesians, They would stick with their water buffaloes and had to sell bananas till the end of Their life ( God bless them ). No wonder the old Dutch liked Netherland Indie so much and the native had been fighting for justice and freedom. Atleast both countries are in peace now, good..

    my two cents.

  • Wow..IT must very nice being dutch in that era..nice place to live, nice shoes, leisure, flying planes around, laughing with joy, and the indonesians ..well the kids have to run the bunker as you see on the footage, walk bare feet, the people have to work with underpaid..yes some of them did go to school..in conditions, either they were rich, from royalty, or or have a connection from either two mentioned. Sukarno was not rich nor from royalty, but he was raised by a royalty "The Cokro" Family.

  • As far as I can see it's just footage about the last Dutch governor-general Edzard Tjarda van Starkenborgh Stachouwer (1888-1978), his family and entourage.

  • we!, gw tau yg comment disini smw org indon kan? udah ngaku aj! sampe skarang indonesia slalu dicucuk hidungnya ama amerika dll, dihadapan malaysia pun bak kambing mo pipis! sape disini yang stuju kudeta pemerintahan skarang! ntar gw bikin grup di fb orang2 indon yg mendukung keteraturan "BELANDA"!

  • @Zovlanov . Goblok kayak lo ya?

  • Comment removed

  • @Zovlanov / Who are you? Are you a half of dutch? coup de etat?

I'm an pure Indonesian, not slave like you!! I am proud of Indonesia, not Malaysia or Arab, moreover Dutch like you! You have a dignity as a half of Dutch because you are a slave of Dutch! OK?

  • Comment removed

  • @Zovlanov / Rather than proud of robber, killer, and colonizer like you. It's better you go and live in colonizer's country as a slave, not here "Indonesia"! Pig? oh...it is your food! slave? Yes, you have been a slave before you were born until today!!!! kakakaakkk....LoL....huk....huk...huk....

You know, actually I am welfare now, but I don't know how about you because you are slave. How will you as a slave do "coup de etat"?? You could not even manage yourself!! Geeeerrrrrr..it's nightmare!

  • go to hell colonialism

  • This is not colonial dutch east indies....this is like a family video of the last governor-general!

  • Fuck the Dutch!

  • to lustitiapax: Finally someone is judging accurately about history, however, i still think that the Indonesian independence was inevitable in the long run. Your remarks about the Moluccans and New Guinea are true. What people here also forget are the attrocities commited by youth nationalists who got their weapons from the Japanese.

  • The colonial history, if it had endured, would have meant a far better development of education and industry in Indonesia. No poverty would exist today in Indonesia, if it had been still the Dutch East Indies. As for colonialism: the occupation of the Moluks (islands) and of New Guinea (Papua) by the Javanese Indonesian nationalists is colonialist too, and they persecute the natives there. Many Papua and Moluk people want to return to Dutch rule, even after 60+ years.

  • @IustitiaPax im so agree with u,...b,cause i have same opinion

  • @IustitiaPax Come on... it's 2010 and you still believe in colonialism??? don't you read Havelaar book in your school? don't you know fair trade movement in Netherlands? the fact is: 350 years Dutch colonialism can't give Indonesia poverty, don't you aware that Canal, streets, trams in Netherlands, built with the money taken from Indonesian commodity without fairly paid? what is it that Netherlands gave Indonesia except corruption culture & feudalism? the colonialism responsible to the colonized

  • @ekonugrohopurba I condemn Indonesian colonialism of the occupation of West Papua, the Moluk islands, Celebes, Borneo and Flores and Timor. Dutch colonialism had long since 1910 stopped meaning exploitation. It was shifting towards education of Indonesians etc. Who paid for Sukarno and Hatta university education? Exactly, the Dutch state. But Muslim Indonesian nationalists created an uprising with support of Japanese colonial invaders. Betraying 350 years of Dutch East Indies history!

  • @IustitiaPax So you don't condemn the idea of Dutch colonialism of occupation of ALL OF INDONESIA, as your first premise? Indonesian ppl are brothers & sister from the same root... we never went to other continent to invade other country like the Dutch did. In 1948 way beyond 1910, Dutch soldier killed Indonesian ppl... is that education? Anyway, how bout Suriname, did the Dutch make the country better than Indonesia? can it beat Brit as they make Singapore better?

  • @IustitiaPax !! Go to hell dutch!!! your ancestors invaded my land for your own stomac. How much properties were brought by your ancestors to your land?? If your ancestors didn't invade my land, you would have been poor country.

What Papua and Maluku said to our land because your current leaders' provocation!! Your country wishes part of our land would be under your GREED!! How millions of my ancestors passed away because of your HITTLER!! FUCK IMPEREALISTS!! You will never deceive our people.

  • @Phosfert Papua, Maluku, Borneo, Celebes all want to become part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as a colony like Curaçao island in the Caribbean. Only Islamic nationalists want centralist Indonesia. Only Javanese and Sumatran Muslim nationalists, murderers of innocent Dutch women and children in 1945 and 1946. Indonesia would be as rich as Singapur, if it were still a Dutch colony. Now you suffer from American neo-colonialism. Thank Sukarno for your poverty, not Holland! Leve de Koningin!

  • @IustitiaPax!! Hahaha....That is an idiot history if imperialists invading another countries has given a better condition and education. Yes, littlle people want Imperealists return to our country as their ancestors were your slave & espionage. How many our Christian heros of Indo in Maluku, Manado & Papua were decimated by imperealists?? How many millions of Indo people were forced to work for your country last century?? That is idiot!! Its pitty you are forced with stupid history.

  • @Phosfert You believe Muslim Indonesian nationalist myths. Papua, Maluku etc. all like the Dutch, because the Dutch traded with them and granted autonomy and worthy education. Mohammed Hatta and Sukarno and Suharto were ALL educated in the Netherlands at universities paid with Dutch tax payers' money. They were on sponsorships. Sadly, they became infected with Hegelian philosophy and Nationalism (a modern consequence after 1789/1848). The Dutch were mostly good to Indos since 1900!

  • @IustitiaPax !! Its stupid argument again!! Yes some of Indo heroes were educated in Dutch but it was not from Dutch money....it was from Indo's own money. How much money Dutch spent for its politic of devide et impera as if Imperialist provided FREE EDUCATION?. Can you compare with when Dutch seized Indo's wealthy and right for over 350 years?? The Dutch were mostly good because Dutch was aware that Indo's unity & strugle had started powerful to fight. Nationalism of Indo emerged In 1900s.

  • @Phosfert

There is a difference between Indo and Indonesian!!

  • @IustitiaPax

TRUE javanese people are the most colonialist nation i ever seen

see the genocide in timor and papua

let's us free molukka and west papua

javanese must be outing from every place in former our beloving Ned indie

  • @FRANCOISICHTUS I agree on Malaku and West Papua. Nederlands Indië was loved by most minorities, except not by nationalist and Islamic Javanese and Sumatran Muslims. However, let us never make the mistake and hate Javanese. Java has a rich and nice culture too. I just criticized Indonesian internal colonialism, which is far more aggressive than civilisatory Dutch colonial rule. I especially desire a linguistic and cultural bonding between the former Dutch East Indies and the Netherlands. Unity!

  • Comment removed

  • @IustitiaPax you sounds like an educated people, why don't you read Pramoedya Ananta Toer's Buru Tetralogy ?

  • @IustitiaPax I don't think you've read Multatuli's book, about how dark Dutch oppression can be. It's good that Indonesia decided to be independent out of Dutch occupation. Poverty in Indonesia? Poverty was rampant even during the Dutch & Japanese colonialism!

Strengthening the relationship between Indonesia and Holland is one thing we should deal with these days. We never really have an official good relationship with eachother since 1950s, despite our 350 years of close relationship.

  • @rochelimit55555 Eduard Douwes Dekker (Multatuli) and his work are a complaint against regular Freemasonry in the Dutch East Indies, while Dekker himself inclined to atheist-irregular Freemasonry. Also, Multatuli sympathized with Marxism and as such had to see problems and make responsibles for them, without realizing the bigger context or the alternatives. The current poverty of Indonesia proves that the 1920s Dutch development of the East Indies was the only way for true human emancipation.

  • @rochelimit55555 The lack of a good relationship is because Indonesia occupies the Malaku islands, West Papua, Floris, Timor and North Celebes, all regions rejecting Indonesian nationalism. The problem is Indonesian nationalism. And of course the Moluk exile government in the Netherlands. I like Indonesia though. But I think Indonesians should invite Dutchmen again: we can build your country again. Without paternalism of the 19th century.

  • @IustitiaPax I attend a lecture by a professor from Leiden about 'Indonesian occupation' compared to Dutch, they all have something in common. It's a long story, but I agree with the conclusion, that idealism is not needed for progress. UK paid war crime to India, same with US to Japan. But Holland never paid anything back despite of 350 years of occupation. But Indonesia shows that they do develop nicely without any help. Indonesia gain their own independence and develop themselves nicely.

  • @rochelimit55555 You live in a phantasy world. Indonesia is very poor, impoverished and still receives billions in aid from the Dutch government yearly. Dutch people start development projects for poor children etc. etc. You live in a world of lies of your own. The Netherlands governed the Dutch East Indies ("Indonesia" is a modern term), but never "occupied" it. (Although it did occupy Aceh Region.) Many non-Muslim minorities and majority in Indonesia want the Dutch to return, even in 2010!

  • @IustitiaPax whatever you said my friend, I'm studying international law in Leiden, I know what I'm talking about

  • At 1:23 we see Brewster fighter planes. The first of these arrived in the Dutch East Indies in 1941. So the movie clip is most probably from that year.

  • @NovaDXXI But the air cover in 42 was NIL! and the Sea battle was not wanted but they were forced into it and after all was lost at sea the dutch gave up on land without a fight! the whole thing was a fiasco from start to finish

  • the javanese are colonisers themselves,we handed indonesia over on asilver platter to them, and by the way,we did alot of good things there too,it is a two sided story

  • as an indonesian i love japan even old people in my village speak japanese when they meet each others and i feel great spirit and exiited when i watch them

actually indonesian and japan are brothers, because japan have austronesian blood ( o2b dna, southeast asian dna) and some words have some similiraty for example : suka (in indonesian meaning "like"), suki ( in japanese meaning "like" too)

  • racist comment.. how come u justify human based on their dna, skin color or such... dont embarrass us indo, dude!

  • by coincident...

20 percent of indonesian word derived from dutch... we have similar word with tagalog .. hmm.. should i stop this debate.. it makes me feel abit stupid... just cant stand to read stupid comment over here about japan save us bla bla... my goodness...

  • yeah lansanak...perhaps u'd change ur mind once u r transported back into the past to relive the history of the horrible japanese occupation..being colonized by japanese is not much better than dutch...it is even worse its like jumping out the frying pan into the fire..

  • @lansanak

But we Indo's (Indische-Nederlanders) in the netherlands are more closely related to Indonesian and we were slaughtered and kicked out of the country, bedankt

  • yeah history is history mate... but you Hollanders are not completely honest with your own history. I've been in Sydney for 2 years, and there was an exhibition of a VOC ship, in the port of Darling Harbour for a week or two. There was also an exhibition showing all the exploration from the ship's mission. Some of them are spices, which, you know, being ROBBED against our people's will, yet it's mentioned there, as a friendly exploration etc. THAT'S A BIG LIE and needs to be corrected!!.

  • Please, all indonesian people commenting here, be aware that almost everybody in holland today knows that our colonial history is terrible, and people feel ashamed about it. Holland today is not the same as the Holland that colonized.

  • I'm Dutch, and this definetely is not our finest hour...

  • i prefer england than netherland. english call their colonies as commonwealth, dutch call us inlanders. more then 3 centuries dutch sucked up every resource indonesian possesed, with no equal return... just compare with english commonwealth. wake up man, 1 thing for sure, the law that allow corruption and absolute government power at indonesia based on colonialist codex created at that time by dutchman. thx alot meneer!!!

  • Commonwealth? If you believe that then you're ignorant. Goodnight.

  • of course i can give you sample for that, you know malaysia, india, singapore (asia), south africa they are english's commonwealth... and they r doin great now. indonesia and suriname will be inlander sample. if you have sample "holland-colonization" country that doin "great" then state!! my grandpa felt both netherland and japan invasion, they r same.

  • @kodokbuduk01 The following were also colonized by the Brits: India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, etc. Not exactly examples of good governance.

  • indonesia is the best.......

    fuck to all colonialist.!!!!!!

  • I am an Indonesian and i live in Amsterdam sinds at age 13st. I think that ya'll too stupid for giving such a bullshit comments.. you cant sell anything with that I.Q of yours. I feel verry insullt.. can i say FUCK YOU?! for judging my country!!

  • Amsterdam, Netherlands ahh. What Indonesian are you?

are you an indo or java or something like that you know. Cuz you know Indonesia was once a dutch colony from 1600-1945. but independence was attained in 1949 though.

  • dont tell me about my own history,

i was born in Jakarta and at my age 13 i moved till today in Netherlands Amsterdam. And i learn another kind of history sinds i lived here.. they told you how smart they were but they dont tell you about how they the indonesian people abused and killed. The names of those people are like heros here.. its so lame man

  • MERDEKA!!!!

  • Indonesians now are following there grandfathers. The ones who fight againts the Dutch in 1945, now nothing about the Dutch, only believing in stupid things told by Soekarno. A very interesting situation in 1945. The older generations were loyal to the Dutch, the younger ones loyal to the Republic - a blind and "know nothing" loyalty. The Dutch would have won the war if they had a referendum.

  • says who??? when dutch occupied, indonesian had no right for a proper education. and do you know how much victim when dutch made us working unpaid or we named it "rodi" another word for slavery??? shame on you. we lived in our country but dutch act as landlord. think about it mate!!

  • maybe some reforments should have been made including no slavery and education for everyone, but i read there were a lot of indonesians who went to dutch schools on java. now indonesia is poor, so what is better? living in corruption and no happy future like now, or good roads, good schools, good hospitals, better jobs we could have given it all. if merdekah warriors made compromisses with the dutch.

  • Van Mook! Opmerkelijk, opmerkelijk...

  • evil white pigs!!!

  • Thanks heaven its 2009

  • If we return we will bring to an end the cursed and widespread corruption. We will repair in old glory the roads, the track lines, the buildings, the hospitals etc. wich were build by us in the past. We will bring back order and authority. We will increase the life expectancy of many due a good organisized health care and education. As our proud flag fly again above our colony Hindia Belanda (let it be as soon as possible) the hope and desiring of very much of your compatriots will born again.

  • Colony?? So you admitted that you are a colonialist. Since when the colonialist were thinking about the welfare of their victims?? Dream on man, dream on

  • the victems? how many ''victems'' are there now? more and more.....

  • I dont understand what are you trying to say man..peace

  • That When Indië was our colonie, the prosperetie of the indie people was much better......

There are more victems now than that there where back than...

  • I seemed to remember that there is a plaque, in a colonial period building in central jakarta, that said, no entry for natives, dogs and other animals, is this what you call prosperity?, good order?, its all a facade, what is really happening is much more dangerous that what we can see....

  • i think, that if they where a colonie now....

they would have the time of their lives...

but hey, i am against it.........

People need freedom, it is more important than a house and food!

his isnt sarcasm... i really mean it

  • can you guarantee that, living under a "colonial" status means that you live under the subjugation of law and policy of foreign governments or nation, maybe it is better if these governments knows very well in intimate detail the colonies culture and could respect and appreciate those, but in many cases they are not, ignorance and selfishness are what mostly occured, under a netherlands one more time, no more thank you!

  • whatever.. i dont care... it is not that we want you again! it would only cost us money money and money..... so stay as you are ;)

  • Excuse me?, we need you?, its kinda the reseverse i think!, its you who need us!, why the hell do you came at the first place?, i could go on and on about that, but ill be wasting time, cost you money?, for what?, for enslaving the people?, making sure they abide by you?, stay as we are?, whats wrong with us now?, remember we are under your rule for 300 years, it is normal that progress could not be achieved in short time, but at least we are taking hold of our own lives and destiny...

  • your loss

  • What loss?, dont feel nothin'!, infact, im now here in Sheffield, UK, enjoying european higher education courtesy of my own money, one that would not exist had Indonesia is still a colony, since the main policy is how to make the natives stupider, HAH!

  • don't get angry.....

    why are you angry?

I am against colonizing countrys ;)

    whats your problemmmmmm

  • Why shouldn't i be angry?, your words are insults to me, by saying those things, you are implying directly or indirectly that what the netherlands did by colonializing Indonesia is thoroughly a good thing which is NOT btw, to me what you did is like slaping my mother, and now my problem is how to slap you back.....

  • i never ment to insult someone, and by trying to find a way to insult me is not the solusion!

    to clear it out:

    i am against colonizing!

also i think colonising indonesia was bad... you take the freedom away... that is not a good thing.....

i was just fooling around ;)

    take a chill pill! ahah

    ignore insulting people on youtube.....

if you meet them in reallife they are pussys....

    ok??

    brother, friends?

  • well, obviously next time you have to be careful in choosing your words, since this is an international forum, be mindful of someone else's feeling, they are from different culture!, for us independence is sacred, that is why im so pissed you said those things before, but since now you have shown goodwill, ok, thats allright by me....

  • nopes

  • what are u for some pussy? I just heard some moluccas east timors (made it) and atjeh people said that it sucks to be a part of indonesia

well kids like you will always live in the past

  • That would depend very much on the person you are asking for, and no thank you i believe you are the "pussy" here...

I dont live in the past, i live in the present, its your kind whio initiates the whole if-Indonesia-would-be-ruled-by -the-dutch-thing-everything-would-be-better!, just look at the comments below please!

  • We did now I suggest u do the same to the Netherlands and not keep living in the VOC empire

  • do what to the Netherlands?, i dont do anything, infact i went there last year, to amsterdam, it was nice, and everyone there is friendly to us, they even said, many Indonesians came here (Nether.) as tourists and they are good tourists?, the only problem is some ugly bunch from your lot kept complaining about how colonialization of Indonesia would be better for us, which is NOT!, and im here to repel that....

  • Indonesia in the olden days was a eurpeoan colony. Besides it was a colony before it was a country it was a dutch colony before it was a country. So techinaclly There actually are such a thing as Indonesian people that are cacuasian you know like Alex and Eddie Van Halen.
