Wow, I remember playing a version for this on DOS over a decade ago. It's such a strange game through the graphics, the way the game mechanics work, and the strange music, but because of those things, it had a very particular charm. Thanks for the nostalgia :)

it's not a conversion, it's emulation. (C64-Emulator for Nintendo Ds - FrodoDS - )....this definatly the C64 version of GS emulated on a DS. The DS-Version looks much better, but don't forget that the C64 version was made about 20 years earlier ;)

@PedroLambrini It would be easier to write it from scratch. This is totally tailored to use NDS graphics hardware. The Caanoo is fast enough to just run a C64 emulator, so no need for my trickery.

Yep, I played this on commodore 64 when i was about 4 or 5 years old... ah... now i'm 26. Commodore 64 days WERE the days!! Summer and winter games were fun to play and so was drol, zorro, zaxxon, congo bongo, jordan vs bird to name a few. There was some off-road racing game i can't remember what it was called...jackal? Not to be mixed up with jackal for the NES. I think it was called jackal and it was a sweet game from what i remember, but i can't find any videos on here of it.

you need a specal cartrage, i would suggest for a low buget the games and music from dantel, it is not the best but it work if you dudi patch it, message me if you want more details

When The Great Giana Sisters was released in the early 80's on Commodore 64 and Amiga, it bore uncanny resemblences to Super Mario Bros, leading to a lawsuit issued by Nintendo which led to the game being discontinued. Ironically, the Giana sisters are back again on an actual Nintendo system.

If you do your research, this is actually rated as the greatest game ever created. It took the developers 5 years to plan and they had a budget which spanned in the millions. Nintendo has never been able to match this game.

It's a strawberry. This is the most useful item, because your lightning balls can follow or aim to the enemies after getting this one. Of course this only works with the vincible ones.

The true company is that a LEGIT version of the game is being made for the DS.

Of course, they have to change some aspects; the "Goomba Owls" are now very obviously owls, for instance.

GS was made for the PC (commodore) to cash in NES-users (mario-players). Therefore, GS levels and sprites are very similar to mario :D

I always played the mario-hack of GS, but it's only 3 different sprites or so :-)
