• Wow! Such long comments on this video! All I have to say is this song is hilarious and Hugh Laurie is immensely talented!

P.S. I've lived in California my whole life and there are people here with a sense of humour, I promise! Though in fairness... I AM a life-long Anglophile... :D

  • @smilular What are they highly trained at? Eating fries with gravy, or drinking beer. You're right. If the Russians come knocking you'll more than capably hand them over your territories. You ought to shake the hand of every American you meet, and thank them for your freedom you dumb fucking canook. We're the only reason you have any. And also, I'm not a nationalist. I just recognize that without America, the world would be thrust into a modern dark age. And then on to extinction.

  • awesomely talented Mr Laurie...

  • @spacecowboy5000 Canadians most of all had better hope we don't go down the drain my friend. Because your babies would be speaking russian pretty quickly without us. Or what, would you turn off this hour has 22 minutes, get off your fat asses, get the dogs hooked up to the sled, go to times for a double-double, and maybe a quick donut, and oh shit, too late, you just got shot by a someone from a country who actually has a standing army. Canadians don't have the guts to do our job.

  • @abstractheory As a Canadian and having relative ins the Canadian armed forces along with moving up from the U.S, I can with all honestly say that Canadians are some of the best trained military units in the world. The problem is that the population is small for such a large country, so we end up compensating for it in military training. We have to have a yearly patrol to go up North and make sure no other countries (mainly America) have been in the arctic. We are more then capable for ourselves

  • @peyo001 I don't understand what you're saying. Likely because of your lack of anything resembling a command of my language, or a brain, but I'm grateful that you were so easily baited into admitting the truth that the envy of yourself, and your crooked toothed ilk is what makes you dislike Americans so much. If it makes you feel better, we would gladly let you come live in our country in exchange for washing dishes, and entertaining our children with your oh so silly accent. Cheers M8! :)

  • @abstractheory YOUR language? Oh dear. Not being able to spell "favourite" correctly does not a separate language make, my friend. Also, nationalism is backwards and ridiculous and everyone involved in this argument should feel terrible. Christ.

  • Hush, and enjoy this video!!!

  • this is strangely motivational...

  • @abstractheory What a load of shit that is. I've been all around the world and seen courtesy and charity in every country I've had the pleasure to go to! To claim it as "uniquely American" is the hight of rudeness. And you people wonder why you are so disliked?!?

  • @abstractheory The UK aren't the only ones that hate you. All of Europe does, Africa, and Australia too. Heck, here in Canada hating Americans is almost a national pass time. And I promise you it isn't envy. The US represents everything the world does NOT want to become. And no one one takes the US seriously anymore. You're all going all going down the drain and no one will help you.

  • Is anyone else thinking "Never send a human to do a machine's job."?

  • stephen fry's crowning performance.

  • Who would have guessed Hugh Laurie had such a good American accent?

  • @JohnMaxibillion emh... anyone who's seen House M.D.?

  • @kinggod11 Who would have guessed YouTube commenters were so bad at detecting sarcasm?

  • Probably one of my favorite clips of them. I really wish Hugh would sing it again the way he is now. XD

  • Stephen Fry makes this video lol KICKIN' AY-ASS!!!

  • Gregory House, Nuff said.

  • I nearly died watching this: I love these two. Laurie's awesomeness goes beyond my comprehension.

  • "SING DA SONG VERNE!" :D

  • 10 people have suffered a strange musical accident.

  • "Brother Orrin" is now a GOP candidate...

  • I love how this song is nearly 20 years old, yet sung now it still represents the US far-right better then 99% of comedians now.

  • siiing the sooong Veeeerne! *giggling* I forgot about this one. *adds to playlist*

  • Stephen at 1:47 is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time xD

  • Stephen Fry, the walking encyclopedia, acting as a mentally disfigured person. Genius.

  • Awesome! Has Hugh Laurie ever been on QI?

  • @m1k3072 First show if I remember correctly, maybe 1-2 other. He wasn't that great, just isn't his thing it seems.

  • @m1k3072 Once, on the very first episode of QI, season 1 (A), episode called 'Adam' :)

  • @m1k3072

Only the first episode, as far as I've seen(but then i'm an American and am currently catching up on the series(almost to season 3)...

  • @WarriorPrime9000 Thanks! I'm South African so I got a very late start to the show.

  • I love this one so much because of Fry.

  • And that guy is House.

  • America never rebuilt the south after the civil war because they wanted to breed a population so inherently hilarious that the world would always have someone to poke fun at after racism had evaporated from the Earth... you're welcome.

  • wow, i can barely believe that guy hosts QI after watching this

  • so hugh laurie has always been able to do an american accent! good to know.

  • Its Meireles and the killer from the Zodiac movie

  • I love this song xD

  • 100% all American! This doesn't offend me at all, its all true XD

  • It's Of Mice and Men.

  • HUGH LAURIE IS AWSOME IN EVERYTHING

  • I LOVE this, but it is so strange seeing Stephen Fry not looking intellectual!!

  • There is nothing better than Stephen Fry yelling "KICKING AH-YUSS!" with that accent. Nothing.

  • guess this is what you call a mixed feeling.

the two, brilliant as always, were ridiculously funny. No matter how derailing their act may be to your intelligence, your brains simply cannot hold back that primal want to laugh. Yet once the song ends and the laughing quiets for a bit, you're suddenly overwhelmed by the heavy irony of the idea that we don' t seem to have changed much since 1992

  • @GirlWonder05 Anyone who thinks this country hasn't changed much since 1992 wasn't born yet.

  • This is so funny it hurts!!! I just had to take two minutes off after this video for a a laughing break, wipe my face from tears and blow my nose. A very good start of the day : )

  • I've never seen this before. Tears running down my face. Thank you Stephen & Laurie

  • YEHAAAAA!

    - thank you.

  • I love Hugh Laurie managed to keep a straight face through all this, everytime Stephen does something im cracking up

  • Americans. Please read this and remember it. For most of us, when we Brits say "We hate Americans", we say it to take the piss out of you because we know how irritated you get. Don't take it so fucking seriously.

  • @AlexisCapri I hate Americans and I am one. There annoying, and gullible, and I am ashamed to be one.

  • @Metatality Im english and moved to America when i was seven and i love America (not like i do england though). Granted theres a bunch of people like who Stephen and Hugh portrayed perfectly (and quite hysterically i might add), but theres people like that in every country. Not all american's have the same mentality. Yeah it sucks the people on top are that way but not all of them are like that. And i live in North carolina as well so im more prone to seeing the kicking ass diddle my cousin type

  • @MrBombthreat1 No, of course not all American's, and there are definitely those kind of people where ever you go, but the American ones seem to be a bit potent.

  • @Metatality Oh yeah they definitely are. I'd definitely agree with you on that one. As long as you know not all American's are that way. It's kind of a shame that they all get lumped in the same category. Either way this video is awesome.

  • Well I don't see it as a "problem." I am typing this in 2011 connecting my comments to a 1992 video. It's still pertinent brother! Dogged determination in your mind, self-righteous blindness and clumsiness in my mind.

  • God, I wish I was American, then I would be able to kick ass, sounds fun

  • His lordliness, Stephen Fry.

  • you wouldnt see Fry doing stuff like this nowadays :(

  • KICKIN ASS

  • I do love how this is (by Fry's own admission) representative of Stephen's musial aptitude

  • YEE-HAW!!!!, thank you; so elequant

  • This song simply kicks ass

  • Seven people tried to kick their own asses, and missed.

  • House for President !

  • The lyrics to this are amazingly... amazing. Do Laurie and Fry write this stuff, or do they have writers?

  • @m15t4k3n88 They wrote it themselves ^^ They write everything, they're actual geniuses!

  • @MySweetBlasphemy It's fucking true. Stephen Fry is so eloquent it's crazy. "I ain't seen a problem yet can't be solved by kickin' ass". Now that's awesome.

  • Who would of thought that the tea party anthem was hidden in the United Kingdom all those years ago.But then the old bitch Thatcher still had some influence then. Thanks Hugh and Stephen.

  • I simply love them<3

  • funny Dixie song :)

  • Hahaha! Fry cracks me up!

  • Is Steven wearing a Redskins hat?! LOL...

  • Since this song was written almost 10 years ago the world has not changed a bit or look at all like it's headed for change. My personal opinion only.

  • @Wildave007 10? How about 20.

  • @banksta3 sorry I screwed up :(

  • @Wildave007 What about the 1976 movie Network?

  • @ 1:53 shows you how ALL white people dance XD

  • Kickin' ayyyyyyyse xD

  • 700 likes and 7 dislikes

  • Their view of America always cracks me up. : )

  • @VincentPendley More accurately, Texas.

  • Laurie's not bad at country singing :D

  • i had to stop the clip about two seconds in to laugh my bottom off, once my brain registered stephen fry

  • Good heavens, Hugh Laurie is wonderful on that guitar.

  • Comment removed

  • I always get a chuckle outta this song!

  • Let's just hope Fry didn't go full retard when making this.

  • he so good at looking retarded...

  • best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    \m/

  • Until I found this on here I never thought I would see this again.

Even now it makes me laugh out loud.

It could almost be House: The Country Years.

  • Hugh Laurie is a very gifted actor, songwriter, and musician, and I'm very very sorry to say this, but Stephen Fry TOTALLY steals the show in this skit, and all he does is stomp around in dirty overalls.

Oh, and SING THE SONG, VERN!!!

  • This is the Tea Party National Anthem!

  • @joe217joe Yeah, like only the minority Tea Party movement has this attitude.

  • @Treblaine

I mean Fry & Laurie are satirizing the mentality of those of the Tea Party ilk who would surely fail to see that they are being the butt of this joke.

  • @joe217joe See this is your problem, you can't scapegoat all of those gung-ho american attitudes onto the very recent and minority Tea Party Movement. Remember this was filmed in 1992. Almost 20 years ago. LONG before the TPM.

This is a satire but not necessarily a criticism, like Trey-Parker's "America! Fuck Yeah!" it's a humorous take on the American way of doing things: dogged determination and self-confidence for all its strengths and weaknesses.

  • if i ever dont find this funny, kill me, im already dead. genius

  • This is the funniest shit ever. I love Fry and Laurie.

  • thimgs dont change much in 18 years do they

  • SING THE SONG VERNON

  • Putting this on my facebook ... too topical to let go. Sigh.

  • ...

  • what season is this from?

  • @XreaperX515

    Season 3

  • @applesloveme which episode?

  • this sketch has me in tears laughin every time and I've watched it about 4 times today :D "Kickin ass!"

  • This song kicked 7 people's asses

  • KILL ALL HUMANS!!!! ROBOT JESUS FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • What a hilarious way to get around the fact that Stephen Fry can't carry a tune to save his life. I mean, he can hear music perfectly, but he can't sing at all. Poor guy.

  • this is really interesting to see. In house hugh laurie was playing the electric and was playing shittily just to stay in character. Now i know he's even good at playing the guitar!

  • 1992 and still Iraq war :S

  • @afin85 You realise there have been two 'gulf wars' in recent times, yes?

  • global warming, '92? almost twenty years ago?

  • @grinchulescu believe it or not, man-made global warming exists for hundreds of years ;)

  • Now I know why Hugh Laurie is so gorgeous now cuz he always has been :) Thumbs up for the amazing English people haha (not the common or the chavs haha)

  • Im proud to say i sang this in front of 300 people in our global warming awareness assembly at school!

    XD

  • "Arne will just tap along to the strange rhythms in his head..."priceless!

  • Comment removed

  • @randomeddie Sing the song, Verne!

  • hilarious

    KICKING AAASSSS

  • Wonderful!

  • "as for global warming we'll just kick wearing shades

  • thanks for the vid quality !!!!! I'd give 5 stars if I could

  • Love this song, love Fry and Laurie.

And I must add-- I LOVE that Fry is wearing a Skins cap. GO SKINS!

  • lmao, Eye-rack. XD

  • I really love Hugh and Stephen !! great talented and lovely !!! I love this song ......it is sooooooooooo funny

  • OMG! Hugh is so cute here! Can´t keep my eyes of him. He looks gorgeous with his hair like that and the sunglasses on. Wow...he leaves me breathless... And he is sooo talented and funny. The man of my dreams!!

  • @XXXLoveHouseXXX its a shame that he is married... but we have house :) season 6 for the win!

  • @YaMamStudios I know...Lucky woman... But yeah, House is awesome. Can´t wait to see the season finale!!!!

  • @XXXLoveHouseXXX its a shame that season six went down in quality after broken. (ep 1)

  • @YaMamStudios Yeah, this definately wasn´t my favorite season, but I saw a preview of the finale and it looks awesome! I just hope that next season will be better. Hopefully they won´t run out of storylines, cause I don´t want House to end....

  • Funny to see them singing about global warming back then for some reason

  • @davyjames "some reason" being that the end of the world due to global warming has been impending since the 1960s.

  • @hobbified No. In the 70s the big scare was global cooling. I know that now everyone is terrified of global warming but I thought that had started seriously int he last 5 years or so. Just surprising to see them mention it in 1992

  • hugh laurie is good with accents. i had no idea he was british until i watched an interview of him for House.

  • Dr. House?

  • just finished reading fry's biography, absolutely adore that man :)

  • I love you Stephen Fry.

  • I love how Stephen Fry does his tap-dancing thing in the back.

  • lol xD

I can hardly believe THAT's Hugh Laurie, because it'd just make him TOOO amazing for humanity xD lol ;'D

He was hilarious in 101 Dalmations too :D ^-^

  • tap to the strange rhytams in his head loč

  • I looooooooooove him so much !!

  • Hugh Laurie is amazing. Oh my gosh. SO FUNNY!

  • God, he is so funny. Every word is so true. If you can't laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at?

  • I'de like to marry the two of these <3

  • I'd like to at least go have tea with them.

  • They really remind me of George and Lennie from Of Mice and Men.

    "Sing the song Ern,"

    "I'm singin' the song,"

  • me too (:

    i loved that book <3

we had to see the film for english and it made me cry at the end :'(

  • They really like taking the mickey out of America.

  • does anyone know what kind of harmonica Stephen plays? I want to learn the rhytm on my harmonica:D

  • omg thats a really good idea! me too! if u find it please let me know!

  • i dont know why but he reminds me of Johnny Knoxville

  • the sunglasses ? :P

  • This is one of the funniest things i've seen!

  • Stephen is extra funny in this because he's usually the dignified straight man. :)

  • @anmaree or as some might say. a dignified gay man hehe

  • @anmaree Your comment is extra funny because he's actually a dignified gay man. :)

  • @anmaree straight man in a narrow sense of the term.

  • @anmaree Ironic seeing as he's actually gay

  • @evilpixieofdoom "straight man" in comedy is not a reference to the sexuality of any comedian involved in a skit, but rather to the demeanor of one individual - the one that maintains a "straight face", or relatively realistic demeanor/behavior in an otherwise outlandish setting.

  • @EilisM I know, i was making a funny

  • @anmaree well he's definitely the dignified man, but I don't know about the straight part lol

  • unfortunately i was having dinner while watching this, and my drink came out of my nose at 1:49.
