There was (decades ago) a particular ranger who looked after the terwilliger pools, and who eventually lived there with his wife. I do believe it became a big or well known partying spot, and they no longer were allowed to live there or may not have kept his or their jobs either, but they may have been known as "Mike and Mary"...not sure but heard the story from a professor of mine who has visited the pools for over 30 years. "HOWIE " you are the MAN !
what??? the improvements have been made because of what storms have done to it. 2 years ago in the winter there was a pretty major wind storm that messed things up a bit. a very large tree fell right across the second pool (above it, but right over it). It crushed the changing station that used to be there.
Many of us were opposed to putting in limestone, however it has reinforced the stone that is already there helping it to be safer, bigger, and last longer.

The Lane Sheriff's department will use ambush like tactics to shock and intimidate you. You will in the least receive a $125. ticket for being here at the wrong time. They will very tactfully play the good cop bad cop scenario on you by tripping you up and making you give up you 4th amendment constitutional rights. Please assert your rights as American citizens!

I was just at these gorgeous springs for all of spring break and was approached by a ranger who tried to arrest me for having cannabis (even though he couldn't prove it). He tried to search my vehicle - however I know my rights very clearly and did not permit this.
Absolutely ridiculous. He eventually left having no evidence and I enjoyed the rest of my break. DO NOT let these rangers push you around.

What happen to this place? It use to be all natural and didnt have all these "improvements". They ruined it. You idiots made it into a mall fountain.
