And, have you ever heard her sing the Bach-Kantate "Mein Herze schwimmet im Blut"? We'll never hear the likes of her ever again! Pure gold from top to bottom! To her singing was fun, and she made us smile with every note.
What a perfect performance of Maria Stader. Some said her voice was fine, but not so strong, but what I hear here is the contrary: a very firm voice indeed, almost
reminding me of the (extreme) power of the late Pilar Lorengar(in the same aria).
I think Maria Stader was (like many others) a bit underrated. Whatever you hear,
it is of very constant and high quality, throughout her career, till the end (when she was almost 60)
@jcriedijk: This Video of my beloved voice-teacher, Maria Stader makes me almost crying! Next year will be her 100th birthday and she left her 'Genealogical Tree of Belcanto since 1659' (see under persuonare.ch) to me, her student. I will also publish next year a book named "gar ZEN - in der Kunst des Singens?" about her teaching. She told us "to hear with the eyes and to see with the ears!" After having told her, that this is ZEN, she responded: "Rubbish ZEN, this is SINGING!"
Thanks for this beautiful gift: she is one of my favourite singer
