The TV series that followed the final battle was verging on the ridiculous.

The storyline set out at first to be very sinister and quite horrifiyng but then started to lean further towards fairytale fantasy.

The original series and final battle was brilliant but even then could have done without the magic of the star-child or Jim Henson's alien hybrid birth.

but when a TV series picked up where it left off - budgets were on minimum and it killed the originality.

Gotta love the response time on those Visitor Troopers. Check out the one guarding the door. True, he was probably caught somewhat off guard, never expecting Pamela to be shot right in her own office by Diana (the ship's commander). Still, you'll notice that he didn't even reach for his weapon or try to run for cover when Diana drew her gun. He just stood there and waited to be shot. The troopers also all have terrible aim! So I'm sure he couldn't do much anyway.

The 80's version of "V" litterally blows the new version out of the water! You would think with today's technology, the new version would rule, but it's so lame in comparison to the original. Seen the outfits in the new "V" show yet? One vistor literally wears a business suit and a tie, the rest of the visitors wear outfits that look like something from NASA. Even the soldiers' outfits are lame, and BTW, they are only 2 soldiers right now. The rest haven't been born yet! (Huh?) So lame!

@VinnyMonster1 I was under the impresson that V would return with a vengence and Diana at the helm (no daughter) and with a far more sinister plan ahead. Donovan could have returned with a far bigger rebellion, the Starchild would also have comeback in the plot and new characters could have been introduced. The series could have opened with Willie the alien living here on Earth for several years. See, my plot is more juicy. And my cast would have had Michael Ironside and others.

When I went to college I used to shop at a used bookstore that had used copies of V the novels. I now wished I would have bought them. HELL, I could have written a far better script myself and included the original actors! No doubt about it! AND NEVER changed DIANA!

The whole reason everybody liked Diana was because she was a cunning but ruthless bitch.

In this scene for example she promotes herself to commander of the military fleet on earth.

I also liked the argument she had with John in the last episode in which she explains to him that while held nice speeches and was on media, she was actually the one orchestrating the whole operation in the background.

If this new "Anna" visitor can be half as good we can be glad.
