  • Auriga, Polaris?

  • The Sugarcubes were fantastic.

  • DEUS DEUS ... He does not exist.

  • I'm brazilian (YEA, I SPEAK PORTUGUESE) and to me this song sounds so funny! Cause it's my language mixed with another one! ^^

  • Even that dude couldn't ruin this album. Some day they should release this with him edited out.

  • 240 is re-victimization.

  • One of the best records ever made.

  • Very brilliant!

  • After blue monday would you take my hand for believe in me my great darling ok !!

  • I always love this song. I thought the extended version at the end of the album was a better version of this song.

  • mocking the Bible-.forbidden fruit

  • harry potter there at the end

  • Pretty much every song on this album explores the impossibility of completely separating the sacred from the profane.

  • omg just noticed there are thumbs down for this tune????? you lot got ears n eyes? lol

  • fab , brings back mems

  • The letter of this song in the Brazil is considerate a masterpiece modern.

  • Ele é gentil , Bjork.

  • Deus do not exist, of course!

But Björk is Deusa! Completely Goddess!!!

  • @SupernalOne Your right, they're not singing to a God that isn't there, they're singing to people...but why is that a bad thing? God doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean were alone, the universe is a BIG place....it's naive and even a little arrogant to think that were the only ones who live in this universe.

  • @chopstar420

On one hand, "God" has been used to justify wars, persecution, inquisition, and religious institutions can become corrupt. On the other hand, religions maintain standards of ethics and morailty, provide a venue for community social interaction & bonding, give comfort and generate hope. Why not believe in a fiction if it inspires one's life? And what do we replace religion with, patriotism, family loyalty, quid pro quo? It just feels a little sad to me, that's all - truth hurts

  • @SupernalOne because those so called ethics are crap...and there has YET to be a religion that isn't a LIE and a perversion. Fie anda pox on all their calmumany. Believing in religion IS suicide.

  • @SupernalOne Oh, no no no no no..........are you REALLY going to use THIS space to debate religious stuff? UGH.

  • @tambocha

Not if you don't like it -

  • Loved this band. Was upset when she left.

  • 1:07pm Monday (CST) - TimeM

  • fuck this voice over reminds me of pink floyd. somehow.

  • Björk or Sugarcubes?? easy: SUGARCUBES

  • great !!

  • My fav artist. A little girl singing through an adult body. Meaning there is hardly any fear in her expression nor limitations to her imagination as adults normally have. I wouldn't say she is profound as far as insight into spiritual things as this song involves, but she is definitely a creative genius and can express complex emotions through her art.

  • fav song!

  • deus is god in greek

  • es tan sexyyyy

  • Me lembro de ouvir isso na 89 antes de sair prá naite ou as 5:00 voltado borracho prá casa. Good times...

  • Con esta canción me acuerdo mucho de los mejores años de rock 101,

  • Muito Bom !!!

  • i Love her eyes and voice :)

  • Pretty much the meaning is that god or deus isn't real but as the song says that if god really does exist then he's just a regular guy

  • @conversescooby god is just like we are: creation and destruction in a hug!

  • love the meaning of this song

  • @conversescooby Adn what is the meaning? I've got this album, listened to it since I was around 9 years. Love Bjork, just never understood it. Maybe it is not meant to be understood?

  • Legendas por favor

  • Deus is not latim.

  • ever heard of deus ex machina???

  • @DandeB88, Yes , but they play another kind of music , 1st is a new school progressive rock and they´re from Italy. ( like Premiata Forneria Marconi) and 2nd one played heavy metal from México, buy they disapear of the scene in the 90´s.

  • @comokeno oh dear. you are a silly sod

  • @jaquesfrick better not speak if you don't know anything :D

  • My friends, "Deus" is God in the portuguese language from Brazil.

  • Omg I have not listened to the Sugarcubes in forever. Love this! Especially the parts about a bathtub.

  • sugarcubes = magical

  • Deus = God in portuguese

  • @Matheusfoxy Deus is latin....

  • @XxMerzbowxX

    I didn't know it's latin.

Deus means God in portuguese, as in latin.

the pronunciation might be a little different.

  • @Matheusfoxy Latin

  • @devolve42 and portuguese....

  • @Matheusfoxy deus is Latin for "god"...In Classical Latin it was a general noun referring to any divine figure. In Late Latin, it came to be used mostly of the Christian God. It is inherited directly in the Romance languages, as French dieu, Spanish dios, Portuguese deus, Italian dio, etc.

  • Люблю её....

  • aw i heart sugarcubes. have a lot of memories associated with them

  • The Einar parts are hilarious! Squeaky clean!

  • Deus, I think, is intended to sound like jesus, just a thought.

  • Actually, Deus is another word for God.

  • Ah. that was another thought I had being its similarity to the word Deist or deity.

    Thanks

  • no, Deus is latin >>> Italian >>> Portuguese etc

  • Deus is Latin for God. For Example "Deus Ex Machina" "God in the Machine."

  • Thanks, :D

    I was giving english comparisons...

    I fucking love this song.

    Cheers

  • this music transports me to a bad place but mine, and that is good... thanks Sugarcubes

  • love this song so much know all the words

  • Iceland

  • Бляяя,I love Guðmundsdóttir, crazy the maid, for certain the stinker, but all the same I love, its old lovely group.

  • she's sexy and beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes, she was:P

  • @keto6789

I don't know if I would say she is sexy...but she was very cute back in the Sugarcubes days, especially with the short hair. She's still good looking though.

  • @originaluziclip She's just an angel. Its more than looks, its her very soul. Love her to bits.

  • o bicho !!

  • I <3 U forever, Bjork. These songs bring back so many fond memories.

  • she is very very very beautiful \o/ BJORK

  • deus......deus......

  • heya

  • This song isn't really a commentary about people's beliefs or anything like that, as any human being they have the right to believe or not believe in anything they want and express it, this song is just child like and laid back, not really a political commentary...

  • Oh, come one. It's her juvenile. She, I guess, is a little bit ashamed with Sugarcubes songs. I too think that it is cute song but you overvalue this piece and give meaning that it never has.

I think that Sugarcubes is only, only, a step, an exercise to Bjork and some kind of greenhouse to her.

Sugarcube is an artistic joke, a seeking of limits, mining of ideas, something in change but not complete, like lava isn't a ston but will be in different circumstances and times.

  • I don't think she's ashamed of The Sugarcubes songs, especially this song in particular, she has said that she's surprised how all her beliefs were so well formed back then and how they haven't changed at all, she values the KUKL era more, but The Sugarcubes were important for her, she has said they were a joke band, in the nicest possible way of course, but she loved that time.

  • great song funny video

  • the guys voice just ruins it, ruins most of there songs, but bjork is ace and i still like the songs

  • that's just rude, I don't think they would have been as great without him to be honest, makes their sound much more excentric and fun

  • Its a very sad thing that you have to smoke a joint in order to get something or even enjoy something.

Anyways this song is 111% TRUE!!!! Wake up earth!

  • one of my fav sugarcubes tracks next to i'm hungry. the vid rocks too

  • haha i love that song(im hungry)

  • Bjork is a strange little woman. That's why I love her so much. Marry me Bjork!!!!
