  • Very Flamenco

  • WHAT KEYBOARD ARE YOU PLAYING ON?

  • master! shares his knowledge with his loyal followers and apprentices

  • I like how the comments are saying it's not an egyptian instrument and then saying its from turkey, and someone else said iran. lol

  • oud is not egyptian ...its Turkish!!!

  • Would you take any offense on me if i tell you that you're playing an egyptian instrument in a spanish flamenco style?

  • im egyptian

  • hi i was wondering if quantum leap works on mac ? :)

  • @kalashnikov9 i think so

  • OUD is an Iranian instrument not Egyptian!

  • nice program . i am using mac do i need mac version or does it work on both widows and mac ?

  • He's a beast

  • nice video.

how did you record yourself over the Ra interface?

  • Lol love the hey presto at the end

  • The face at the end is priceless.

  • VERY NICE

    :)))

  • do you know how i can get this to work with Logic 9 as a plugin? it works as a standalone on the desktop (blue version), but i need it to be MIDI in logic.

  • @tiddlywinks98712 Make sure the .dll VST file is in the right folder then just create a midi track and select the VST from the dropdown menu.

  • I agree that you're a total assclown if you play these instruments without bothering to check out how they are used in their respective cultures. I'm not wowed by this performance. The great thing about these samples is they won't make average musicians any better.

  • @TheRealCritique

Traditional ways are not always the best. Experimentation can lead to interesting ideas and sounds. Get your head out of your own ass.

  • great bro, but try with the same sound some japanese stuff cause its sounds like a Koto

  • Can you please make a Video of Stormdrum2

  • @EWQLFan You should check out my EWQL song in my channel :)

  • Please

  • Can you plese make a Video about Stormdrum?

I'm looking forward to buy it and you woud help me alot!.

  • it sound more like kanoun

  • i will never be a fan of virtual instruments. however, having such ability is simply amazing! not everybody can master the keys like this.

  • mmm doesn't sound like the oud..

  • more arabic :P

  • not egyptian at all :D

    its a spanish

  • fuck you're awesome! two thumbs bro!!!

  • GREAT MUSIC !!! GREAT PLAYING !!!!

  • EL PROGRAMA ES MUY BUENO, PERO EL COMPOSITOR ES MUY MALO, TIENE MUCHA TECNOLOGÍA PERO NO SABE SACARLE PROVEHO HDP

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the sample player that is shown behind the video of Torley playing? Is it included with the 4 DVD Ra sample pack? I can't seem to find it.

  • That was amazing.

  • stop at 1:19

  • hi !!!!!!! please stop ???????????

  • Torley You Rock dude!!

  • Can you get sounds for country music, i am thinking of writing a country rock ballad and i want a steel pedal guitar sound. If there is can you please post a video on it, love your vids and great playing as well thanks buddy.

  • why is he mic-ing a midi controller? doesnt really make sense

  • @beatrispits

Sigh.. it's a rack for another midi keyboard to sit on, not a mic.

  • look at my video performing i play ud from ra at ( Chris k kemanetzidis ud ) on youtube original pay

  • Oud is neither a kanun nor a guitar.

  • Cool Torley but seriously spend some time looking at Oud Taqsims. There are many different styles of playing, which CAN be emulated, but you have to really get to know the instrument and think about how each note you play would be played on a real oud. Also please read something about maqamat.

  • but this is not the way the Egyptian lute is played... this is the way the nylon guitar is played , which is NOT like the lute...

the lute mainly plays slow phrases with much tremolo and many hammer-on notes... like a player strikes the string with the pick every 3-4 notes... here you have ALL notes with pick

  • @crash3210 Its pretty impressive his playing but as you said its not the oud he is playing flamenco style with oud

  • @crash3210 This is the way the East West Quantum Leap Ra Oud with a keyboard *can be* played...people need to stop attaching themselves to the way instruments *should* be played, the beauty about virtual instruments transcend all frontiers ;)

  • @Jemvie yeah why would you want to play with a software instrument on a clavier like a lute? I mean just get a lute for that. Play something that is not possible with a real lute, that is where the fun starts. My dad plays synths on a midi flute or something (don't know what the correct term is) and that way you can play on a way impossible on a normal synth with clavier.

  • @Jemvie Jemvie, the point of sample libraries like EWQLRA is to emulate real instruments using virtual instruments. Is Torley's way of playing good? Yes. Is it realistic? Not in the least.

  • @Jemvie no problem, but my point is there are 2 general uses of VI's: to replace a real instrument when u cant find or afford a good player, and to create a virtual new sound to make a new authentic effect...

maybe this can do the 2nd but definitely can't do the 1st...

  • @Jemvie True, but that main point of these libraries is to give you access to the kinds of sounds only big-time hollywood composers originally were able to use. Yes, you can do the impossible with these, but really there comes a point when a person is going to know, "Hey, that is really impossible to play." which can risk destroying the illusion of realism.

  • @crash3210

I bet 90% of the population doesn't know wtf a lute is, let alone how it's played. Let the man use the instrument he paid for how he likes. Don't like it? Don't listen. The beauty of freedom. Unfortunately people love to abuse freedom of speech and burden others with having to listen to it.

  • @AyeImaBoss

With that said, I agree with you about playing style. Props for the correction, I'm sure this will help the aspiring musicians learning this instrument for the first time. Good reference. I hope you did not take any offense to my previous comment :)

  • @AyeImaBoss if u dont know what a lute is, dont play it...

it's like getting a synth sound and playing it nothing like an elec guitar would sound like, and then say IT"S AN ELECTRIC GUITAR PATCH !!! and call this freedom of speech !!! :)

this Lute patch is by far THE most convincing lute patch EVER... but not played like that ...

  • @crash3210

If it sounds good in the mix, it sounds good. The freedom of being a musician these days, right? You can't go telling people "you don't even know what a ___ is, don't use it." They paid for it. They can use it however they want.

However, if you're making an ethnic track for a particular country, and you use one of their instruments incorrectly, yes, it will stand out as wrong. So you have a point there.

But for other purposes, most audiences can't tell.

    All the best.

  • @AyeImaBoss i said so to the guy that said: "I bet 90% of the population doesn't know wtf a lute is,"

and i'm Egyptian, so sure, i would want to use it to make a REAL Lute Sound with REAL articulations (as i know what they are)...

my whole point of this comment was that if u are Marketing this as THE lute patch, this is NOT the video for it ...

cause if this video is the best this patch can do (which is NOT) then why pay ? almost any MIDI patch can do this !

  • @AyeImaBoss

and BTW, nowadays, most audiences CAN tell cause now everyone is every nationality... u can find (american - black - arabic speaking - eastern music listening - jazz players - engineers) (all of these are ONE person) .... like everywhere ... u get my point... the whole globe is connected TOO tightly

  • @crash3210 aww muffin

  • @crash3210 You are a tosser. He's playing a keyboard. He's not playing a fucking lute. Fuck off and stop wasting your time embarrassing yourself by posting stupid fucking comments where they're not appreciated.

This is brilliant by the way. I love your use of the pitch wheel.

  • @VodKamills thanks for your politeness ... really shows you're a good person.

  • What equipment do you use? What sound card? No latency at all, so cool :)

  • buy a sound card from a music store. PCI internal cards work the best.

  • I always had good luck with the Creative Audigy 4 Pro card....Very very low latency

    It supports ASIO 2.0
