Steve Marriott could play lots of instruments although I'm not sure how he was proficient he was on the drums at this age.
The most ironic thing about the clips from both of these films is they had probably the finest rock singer Great Britain ever produced cast in a rock band and they never let him sing a word. I guess we can blame Meek and his infatuation with Heinz for this one, but they didn't use him in the second either. Maybe Marriott never told them about what his real talent was.
Who is the other young guitarist playing with David Hemmings, anyone know his name and what happened to him. He looks like an early version of Norman Wisdom...lol.
@Kinky018 Heinz was also the bassist in The Tornados, best-known for their instrumental hit "Telstar" (1962), one of the many Joe Meek productions they were involved with.
Worth pointing out that this is a clip from the Pop Movie 'Live It Up' and Hemmings is appearing as an actor as is Marriott who started out on the stage. BTW Hemming could play the guitar and did cut some albums
That fantastic Liverpool sound, beautiful. Dig the bass player...so enthusiastic haha. And I'm so glad the great Steve Marriott left the drums behind. Saw them in Wellington New Zealand about 1967ish playing with the Who and Paul Jones. Not a bad lineup huh. Think they only played for 20 minutes and did all their hits sorta like a medly. A bit like a young bloke, all over too quickly
Lovely ration-starved lads - prime for exploitation by Sharon Osbourne's dad and mister Meek and the Loog Toff. But back in innocent '63, Heinz would pop home in his red sports car to Holloway road after filming and settle down for the night with Joe Meek for a meat pie, a game of cribbage and a wet towel-fight.

I love these early vids of the fledgling rock genre. Just think by the end of that decade we had the genre in all its glory, rock/hard rock./metal.

Wow! I never realised that Steve Marriott was a dab hand on the drums as well. Thanx for posting, a neat little tune.
