Once Dave went "mainstream" he had to conform to mainstreamer's ideals of conformity and compliance. All that "family values" bs.

Craig has the freedom to just try anything, just do whatever. He can have a bad night, and even that is funny.

Conformists and mainstreamers want a "WIN!" every night. or you fail.

I say Fallon should give up his seat to Conan. Because, Damn Fallon is just useless. He has brought his worthless SNL "style" of looking over every bodies shoulders to look at a prompter because you can not improv or do your lines. Even when the camera is in front of him he is looking off to find a prompter. Fallon should have done what Conan was forced to do. Ferguson is the only late night worth watching.

He was crazy then because he could afford to be crazy.

Once he went mainstream, he had to act all mainstream.

Once the normal work-a-day mortgage paying family types hear about him on the news, he'll have to conform to their idea of reality in order to stay on air.

Craig is better when he can perform as he wishes, and has an audience that just likes what he is doing. The mainstreamers will demand that he be more like them.
