@twoule. You are quite right! I dont know how that happened! I think i deleted some text and left the "???" Lingering like an awkward question.... slap my wrist!... but mind my casio...
I didn't like my C at all when I owned it, lots of menu-diving and clicking though pages despite it has a decent amount of on-board knobs and buttons, I found I almost always ended up with various pads/string/drone sounds on which I admit the Virus do extraordinary well, but it had a hard time inspiring me with its uncooperative response to wilder patching, resulting in a blurry mess on this board. I know it looks deep, but stick to the safe side with this synth and you'll be much happier.
I love that. "Words and music unknown" But there's the music and there are the words. I always suspected that religion would slip up and reveal, nay, declare itself to be self-contradictory. I'm still trying to figure out what a demonoid/martianoid and a blackface Jerry Mahoney have in common. Except maybe the puppeteers are smoking the same peace pipe, if you know what I mean. I'd like to see Jexus create a full length feature film. You listening, man? It would be mind blowing.
And this is the freakiest of the lot. I'd get a TI keyboard just because it looks like it ought to be on the bridge of Picard's Enterprise, and because of this hallucinogenic video. Who needs acid when we have Jexus? I really need to spend more time playing. Music IS the foundation of reality itself. How many religions relate songs to creation myth? Now physicists and mathematicians are looking for superstrings that vibrate to form mass and energy out of nothing. Reality is music is reality.
i am pleased that one of David Liebe Hart's puppets worked his way into this video ! awesome video as always. your blofeld video has almost sold me on that synth, it would be replacing an ms2000 and polysix. thank you for making the choice easier!
1 demo from you on the Access Virus is far enough! Not that i don't like it but people who can't make their idea on a synth with one demo (as long as it's good) are the same kind of people who can't decide to pick up a girl all alone like a real man!
More likely because we need you to move directly to the MEK demo!!! Very soon!?
@suffolknwatt Some guy actually called this synth "horrible" ? This guy should never use the word "synth" in his life ever because obviously he doesn't know a damn thing about them if he thinks the virus is a horrible synth.
Yeh.. I would never go back to this synth. Was my first synth, got to know it inside out. Would never go back to it again.. it has no presence. No life. it sounds like an amiga.
It's one of the synths (and all from Access) that I wouldn't take for free...worse than a good VST. lol Nevertheless it's interesting to check the demo so that I can be sure in my opinion; good job as always!
I agree 100% with you on this one, and I would be tearing my hair out if I were for any reason forced to have a virus as my only synthesizer. Still, I would have a really hard time parting with mine, for what it is. The effects really are something.
The Virus has a very distinct sound....some love it, some hate it.
To be fair, it is a great synth and has alot of things going for it. It's best used in moderation. In my opinion its best 'sounds' include etheral film score/soundscape, pads, FX and ARP's. Everyone has different tastes...some use it exclusively for dance/trance music, some try to use it for 80's type stuff and some use it for soundtrack. Check out 'Ran Kirlian - Diaspora' to hear its ambient side.... you like?
This synth doesn't sound very special compared to the other things you've done... I don't hear the same "edge". I wonder if you had fun making this video?

What movie at 9:20 and 15:28. He's talking about me. :(
@Keybern Possibly someone being interviewed in a penelope spheeris movie? Even if it's not her The Decline of Western civilization 1 and 2 are worth watching.
@R31Bi Make a weird synth demo! As long as it's not with a modular(modulars do weird by default) :) and not with a camera phone, it'll be fine.
I've been onto Jexus's webpage (his official homepage) and ive read his review of the virus. I think he makes some valid points - some of which I dissagree with.
Ultimately, the virus is a unique sounding synth. Alot of people have a love/hate relationship with it....but atleast it invokes something. I find most modern synths increadibly dull and boring. Atleast the virus has a certain je ne sais quoi about it...
You need to turn up the volume to hear it sing - its very low in the video
@DIGITALSCREAMS i agree most people perceive loudness as quality or depth...or most cliche of all phatness and warmth its odd but unfortunately something we have to deal with. The virus has character but its all left for you to control...its init path is very dry and uncoloured because of the sheer volume of directions you could take it. Give it time and it grows on you...i can tell its not to jexus' taste though...this was very uninspired. I cant wait for part 2.
I'm not really excited of this video as I own already a Virus TI... but each time WC Olo Grab announces he is going to demo a synth, I'm SO eager to watch it. It's a soundscape trip, a real review of a world of sounds, he does it right, ROUGH & EXOTIC! He has the tastes too: DM, The Knife, NIN, Goldfrapp, New Wave/Synthpop classics... Not Lady Gaga though LOL, I just don't mind her. Goooooood is so Goooooood!... HAHA!
Do you play with the presets or create your own sounds? Do you sell soundbanks for any of the instruments you play? Love you sounds and video edits :)
<< and that I could actually make a wannabe video about those weird, less than usable and unpolished sounds.
But, "there's more demos ahead", so my comments are quite pointless as of now. This showed some of the strenghts (and possibly defects) highlighted in the reviews, I hope the others show some more maniac sounds.
@ sacredgeometry, i have my own taste thank you...:) but yes i do take JEXUS word on some synhths. he has never let me down yet with the 12 i bought because of him. the virus is not for me in my opinion is all. and i knew it was not one of his favs as well. i would rather have other synths is all i'm saying. i just did not care for this video of the TI . it was a first for me with JEXUS. i don't feel i need the TI. my other synthsr sound better IMHO. jexus likes others better as well.
This is actually one of the very, very few videos by you that I felt I didn't like as much as others. Many sounds were sort of "boring" and "worn" compared to other of your videos, and not so representative of what "a man can to with the machine". It's a 4 stars in relation to your other 5s, though.
@VectronMusic yep, I know. But what I find in Jexus' videos is that he can use some weird, particular sounds in musical fashion. He knows how to make those screams make sense, IMHO. The Virus can actually make those crazy, "unusable" noises (without even trying hard) and I was looking forward to hear what Jexus could make of them. Instead (again IMHO) this video shows some "more traditional" sound design. Perfectly understandable but a tiny bit disappointing to me :) I wish I was *that* good >>>
@Charles33333 I agree, its completely idiotic. All purists do is limit themselves whilst everyone else is out creating new innovative things with all the available tools...old and new they just stick to what they are comfortable with. When people spurt out that cliche "analogue vs digital", "vinyl vs wavs" bullshit all i read it as is "I am too stupid to appreciate two things at once" or " I am a sheep and I read on the internet that one was better" sorry for dumping that rant on you.
@Charles33333 I concur, to be honest I love old analogue synths but for me personally the andromeda always sounded bland and boring. The virus is much more characterful / powerful / fun.
yet another solidly entertaining video my friend. The randomness is great - nice work. I love my Ti - but I wish I could program the farkin thing well. Not as straightforward as most synths.
Nice to watch a new vid again J, im not familiar with TI,In my opinion Waldorf and Nord's are more agressive, more melodic instruments in the VA world... btw I hope you are fine man, cheers!! big huggs bro!!

@LizardBonerKING Dude I haven't used reason in years. My favourite bit of kit is my machinedrum which I use in conjunction with NI maschine and komplete 7.
@OutnumberedKreation Everything isn't all different though is it. I like unique instruments. I just don't find the Access to sound unique. Juss my own personal view.
wow..a first for me. this one did nothing for me. glad i did not buy the virus ti. your still the best JEXUS. i would rather have my ms2000 and blofeld kb.
@009relic1 its got nothing to do with the synth, just his subjective feeling towards it. Dont judge things by other peoples taste, develop your own :P I was actually surprised that he made more boring patches than i normally make using the TI. I guess its one of those synths that grow on you, i initially didn't like the sound thinking like he did that it was dull. But with the right tweaking i have noticed that you can pull the sound in pretty much any direction.
its "The Wretched" by Nine Inch Nails. You can also find "Ich Will" by Rammstein at 6:30 and "This is the new shit" by Marilyn Manson at 13:46 and 14:15 rewards you with the sounds of "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga.

14:29, isn't that the main synth section of "No You Don't" by Nine Inch Nails...

@lynx1138
its "The Wretched" by Nine Inch Nails. You can also find "Ich Will" by Rammstein at 6:30 and "This is the new shit" by Marilyn Manson at 13:46 and 14:15 rewards you with the sounds of "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga.
