Helo Crash from "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" (1978)

Stallone had been defending a lot of his recent movies by saying they don't have money for special effects so the bomb is really a bomb and the snake is really a snake.

Well this movie was so cheap the helicopter crash was really a helicopter crash. No special effects needed.

desperategirl1932 you'd be amazed how easy people can improvise. I'm sure the director had no clue what to do, so they just kept filming. Also notice how that one cop doesn't even notice the helicopter. If it were a fake crash he would've.

The NTSB classifies helicopter tail-rotor failures as "zero-survivability" accidents. Those guys were SO lucky they were close to the ground! I saw Jack Riley talking to Johnny Carson about the accident, and he said he was pretty much convinced he was going to die. I suppose John DeBello (the director) figured that since the accident had just doubled the movie's budget in a heartbeat, they might as well go ahead and use the footage.

It was the ground that caused the accident. The tailrotor hit the gronud and shattered.

Absolutely. You can even hear the thwack as the blade snaps off. My point was that almost all tail rotor accidents happen higher up (there are even a few videos around) and if you happen to be more than a few feet from the ground at the time, you're toast.

Saw an interview with the only actor (sitcom) in the movie. He was in the chopper and was to get out after landing but crashed instead. He said it was like being in a blender.

my father went to college with the guy who made this movie.he came to dinner one night.and talk about looney.but he was really funny

no way. I just watched the vid again, and that helo went up in flames and the actors didn't help or act like they were really concerned that people were just killed. no way would they continue filming and continue in their roles if they were standing that close to a crash that killed people without calling or going for help.  unless the pilot and passengers escaped and it was just the helo burning.

(cont.) but a few hours passed and the guy was still buzzing them so de bello walked out and flagged him down. he landed and the crew asked if he wanted to be in a movie so he immediately agreed and they told him all he had to do was land and theyd take it from there (they just decided to rewrite the script around this guy because the original scene had nothing to do with a helicopter) anyway this guy comes down to land and the rest is history.

my dads a film graduate from ucla and he was working on this movie that day. im sure no one will believe me but as the story goes the film crew went out to this field one day to shoot without any clearance or anything and so there was this agricultural spraying helicopter that kept flying around spraying the fields. so everyone stopped and was waiting for the copter to leave cause the sound was disrupting the microphones

i saw this movie yesterday, and it makes noooooooooooooooooooooooo sense

the tomatoes, were only like 20% of the entire movie and a bunch of other random stuff happens

the guy with the parachute was pretty funny, but, it makes no sense!!!

IMDB says that the helo crash was an accident. It's funny how the actors said a tomato flew right into it. Way to save a scene.

this is one of the funniest movies i've seen in my life :D Rated as one of the worst ever though i can't blame them. It's simply joy to watch this haha
