My jaw dropped and I'm speechless half way through this video! It's very impressive, it has inspiration written all over it, it's erotic, very inspiring, very exciting, thought provoking... (out of words) Jennifer Beals is my dream woman! the type I'd marry forever. congrats for all involved in making this above awesome music video available here for our listening and viewing pleasure! here, we listen them all in discos and parties... during the summertime and also through the winter. it's a timeless registration, I am listening now in my mp3, truly!!!!
Hi I wrote & produced the song `Touch & Go Lover `` Donna Summer just added he lyrics to this music track the I played all the instrumentation. I got no credit for it.. Whats up with that.
Why the hell did they not release this song to radio, along with 'What a Feeling' and 'Maniac?' It definitely would've been a huge hit in the Summer of 83.
Possibly, Donna's label didn't want it to compete with 'She Works Hard for the Money' which came out around the same time as Flashdance. Who knows?
Geffen didn't want to admit that they made a mistake by rejecting the "I'm a Rainbow" album, from which this is taken, so they put this on Flashdance and "Highway Runner" on the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtracks and let the album sit canned for nearly twenty years. This, as well as the album itself, could have been HUGE hits in 1981 - instead, Donna quickly went in the studio with Quincy Jones and recorded the self-titled album (with "Finger on the Trigger") that comparitively flopped...
This song was released to radio right before "hard for the money" as a promo, ineligible to chart "at that time". Shortly after, "hard for the money" came out on the same label. This song was played on pop radio and got a few spins on the r&b stations that played DS on the reg. I remember the dj thinking that was her new song, since no one knew of "hard for the money" yet.
@borderline84 here, we listen them all in discos and parties... during the summertime and also through the winter. it's a timeless registration, I am listening now in my mp3, truly!!!!
@borderline84 .. the song didnt get release because it was from the Im a Rainbow lp the David Geffen didnt put out cause he didnt like the songs he wanted Donna to still be a disco queen .. and held the lp back and so 3 songs from that lp went to soundtracks FlashDance and Fast Times @ Ridgemont high As for She works hard..lp David Geffen turn that lp down also and since she owed Polygram one lp due to her contract she gave them the She works hard LP to put out (david geffen was a dumb ass)
@MrDjthomase I think it is great that she had a HIT album even though she had already signed with David. That goes to show that he was on the wrong track. He should've never shelved I'M A RAINBOW.
@MrDjthomase he was a completely idiot (geffen) but it serves them well, Summer's both big hits from the 80s (She Works Hard For The money, This Time I Know It's For Real) were rejected by Geffen and his joke of a label never got the sales from both hits. the only thing was that it was basically a whole decade Donna Wasted with that joke of a Label.
Very cool upload Luis!--I miss seeing "Flashdance" so much in its purest version and not the TBS edited stuff they play almost all the time...Mikey & faved of course w/a 10*stars!
this was my FAAAVORITE song back in the DAY! hot damn nice to hear this again never seen the music video was not shown on mtv back then least i never catched it on mtv, and i watched ALOT of mtv back then. when it was REAL music videos LOL!. nice to see this thank you so much for the upload!!
actually they did play this maybe once or twice back in the day on mtv. I remember watching it once. But since the song maniac was a hit, they just played the video for that song instead. im surprised i got to see this music video again after 20 something years.
I've heard this was the first video by a black female artist to get played on MTV, while She Works Hard For The Money was the second. Donna deserves credit for opening doors for black women on MTV much like MJ and Prince get for African American artists.
.thats because Adrian Lyne ,like most great directors shhots or films more footage than scripted ..then edits accordingly..but the lost scenes are sometimes more exciting
like in the beginning of the video, where she sticks out her tongue. and when she is sleeping with her dog on the couch. some of the dance scenes...especially the last dance scene in this video did not make it. which is a great dance scene in my opinion.
Sorry, but I don't agree with you. I suggest you should listen to Donna's voice in the live version. I think the live version's better. Still, I LOVE THIS!
