It is sad that we as a people lost a great Sax Player these past few days. Mr Clarence Clements of the E Street Bad. Whenever I listen to any of the Cruiser's songs I think of Mr Clements.
I saw this movie in 1983 as a double feature with Risky Business. Risky Business was first then this. I was 13 and loved the music. I saw the double feature more than once and each time Doc made his first screen appearance people would yell "Guido The Killer Pimp!"
I liked the tender years classical piano part of the movie better though, you know the part where joann (or however you spell her name) walks in wordman playing.
Love this movie, and soundtrack. This song was replaced on the CD with the song Mockingbird. Never knew why, but when I went to buy it for my sister I had to hunt down a used CD so that it had this song on it.
I was there the night they filmed this scene in May of '82 at Tony Marts. I was 11 years old. They filmed this scene over a dozen times. They would change the camera position and film it again. They used a Nagra reel to reel to playback the music through the speakers behind them. It was so loud, it actually seemed like they were playing.
I sat at the unused bar near the pinball machines. I fell asleep with my head on the bar listening to this song played over and over. I will never forget it.
Love this song. It always makes me cry. Eddie & the cruiser's will always be one of the greatest classics of all time. Love this actor here & in "Streets of Fire." If u haven't watched this movie, WATCH IT!
i love this movie. I always cry when I hear this song. (of course in this version). The piano in the end, just reminds me of his disappearance & separation of the band in this movie. Eddie & the cruisers will always be one of the best classics of the 80's. I will always love this movie & the 2nd. He is an extraordinary actor even in "Streets of Fire." Love this. Thanks

Man, this song reminds me of my brother...........he always use to listen to it.........man, I miss him...........wish things were back to the way they once were
@MarishiaR I love this song and the music in this film and Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band ,but thought Cafferty had a distinct, Bruce Springsteenish sound which is perhaps why ,although a great talent John and voice he and his band remained larlgey a bar band inspite of the popularity of the movie a shame!
i love this song... i listened to this tape over and over when my sister passed away.. it wasa terrible time but this soundtrack helped me through... Bless music! thanks for posting..
I remember watching this movie cuddle under the blanket with the person I thought was my true love...I sit and listen now and go right back to those times...we were just two young hearts lost in never never land/
Love this song!!! Great video post, only one thing, the guy in the blue jean jacket is Tom Beringer. He wasn't in the Outsiders, but cool video anyway.
Yeah, I remember the summer of '63 and bein' at Myrtle Beach. Now when I think of those times it's like another time & place. Those times will always belong to someone else no matter how many times I've been there since that summer of "63. It was a magical year. Hippies in Calif.; the Beatles making their mark in UK; black people breaking the bonds of bondage '63 @ NC A&T St. Red Necks assaulting Gov. agents at "Ole Miss" for a whole night-it's called rebellion against a lawful govt.
What I really love about this movie is that it was filmed in the Tony Mart in Somers Point, NJ. When I was young, a couple of my baby sitters would take me with them to the Tony Mart when my folks were out for the evening. The Tony Mart was where I learned about rock & roll when I was about 9.
Awesome Movie!! The songs by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band for both 1 and 2 are amazing.. This is my favorite song from the first movie, and running through the Fire is my favorite from the second film. Unfortunately the movies are for the most part regarded as underground classics almost.. EDDIE LIVES!!!!
@KON567 i dont know, maybe it's just me.. every time i here this song i get lost in a cloudy haze of memorys from my teenage years. i start thinking about old friends who made it out alive, and the ones that didnt. what i woldnt give for one more night with the old crew, say the things we should of said to old loves, say good bye the right way, not over a wooden box leave on good terms not wondering what could life could of been life like if things were done and said differently
@KON567 My moms would fastforward the movie of Eddie and the Cruisers just to hear this song. I remember because we didn't have a remote for the VHS player! And I didn't understand until d heard it a few times how Beautiful a song it really was, but then i was only a kid! And when the piano is played at the end it really is the best part of the whole song! Loved it!
@KON567 Just the part I wanted to see with the song I wanted to hear with the piano being played with the best ending, not having to press the fast forward button. Remembering how my mom loves this song!
this is one of the best movies ever made. the music is just awsome. The best song in this series was Matter Of Time i think. but in the long run all the songs are really good.
When the outsiders thing pops up, its on the guy playing Eddie but he wasn't on that movie either. Maybe they are pointing at the black shirt Eddie is wearing, cause that shirt was on the movie The Outsiders. lol

Why does this song remind everyone of 1987? The movie came out in 1983 and the song was a top 40 hit in late '84.
