  • All you guys are idiots. why can't you just appreciate good music, no matter who writes it or sings it. Is this some kind of "hey I know more than you about TX music, or what?"

  • Who is the Lefty lead guitarist?

  • That looks like Amy Farris playing violin. Ugh, so sad.

  • @arshimbo no, it was eleanor whitmore

  • Willis and Charlie ...Capt and Tennille.

  • Bruce may have been ragged , but he was righteous on this night. And Kelly?Truly one of the most beautiful voices in country music, and one of my musical causes after first hearing her sing almost two decades ago. I tell anyone who will listen to try Kelly'ssongs on for size. She's living proof that there's still good music and great musicians beyond the reach of the beancounters

  • @Kenjock3000 Kelly Willis is the consummate country voice and personality. I too have told countless people about this great talent who with the help of Bruce never let the glitz impact her life style.

  • This is the worst rendition of this song I've ever seen, and I've seen it done in karaoke.

  • How can you say that? I think McDonald's is making music now. You can buy your homogenized music there.

  • @JadeComputerGal

Hey wrote the song you idiot... LOL... keep going to karaoke.. thats where you belong

  • @ispankchris

I assume you meant "he" wrote the song rather than "hey" wrote the song. I know he wrote the song, and that has nothing to do with it. Leonard Cohen wrote Hallelujah and has said the covers of the song were better than his own rendition. Many songwriters are great songwriters but aren't great at performing them. I'll also assume, from the tone of your response, that you're a liberal. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • I have off Kelly's 45s that were released on vinyl

Met he when she was single-living in Austin -Got to interview her al lthe team at shows at small venues

its been almost 5 years since iv seeb Kelly plat and that was small town of Yoakam with BRuce

  • Boy oh boy... I love this song, and his version, but this is botched.

It's too loose, too "jolly". Way to

    casual. And WAY TOO FAST.

There is no heartbreaking sorrow in the way he sings this at all, unlike his studio vocal which is GREAT.

And what's with the glib Hollywood stylings on the ends of his phrases. Listen to "well enough alo-ne-a" at 3:10. BARF. It's like Taylor Swift singing.

  • Uh, he is the writer of this classic. Do you not think he knows how to perform it.

  • In short, on this night, "no", I don't. I've seen plenty of artists who have written great songs who can still play them lousy on any given night.

  • @mmagliaro

I don't know, I have to differ, I thought it was very good. As for "no heartbreaking sorrow" the lyric pretty much handles that, this is one of the most heartwrenching songs in all of music, and not the corny heartbreak we often hear, but real tragic heartbreak, the pain of life and the years gone by...I got no complaints with they way they handled it.

  • Two of Austin's favorites -- both as musicians and as people.

  • A beautiful song from "an angel with hell scorched wings."

We are proud of Kelly and her accomplishments-I knew her when was a very shy and sweet kid in high school. She hasn't changed from what I can tell. I wish nothing but the best for her and her family.

  • Great song, I think we have all been what this song is about in one way or another.

    Thanks Bruce and Kelly!

  • tomg212,

I agree she should be a hughe star. I have always heard that she doesn't want to be a huge star. She likes to be with her kids and have a relatively simple life. But there is NO country female artist (performer)out there that can match her voice and her combination of sultry with a southern accent.

  • i completely agree - she has a true and fine and powerful voice......but she loves the quiet life i guess out there in west texas. by the way, her husband is one of the best songwriters going today. them robison brothers got a good thing going......

  • I have seen them together twice, they tour together every year right before Christmas. The first show was in a very small bar called The Mucky Duck, we were so close we could rest our feet on the edge of the little stage. The shows are very informal with both of them telling stories about each other. Great shows.

    Houston, Texas.

  • I only discovered Kelli about 6 years ago. I've lived in Houston 5 years and have seen her at the Mucky Duck every time she's played there since. It's a great venue, and she puts on a wonderful show. I can't understand why she isn't a huge star. What a talent.

  • Best song ever. This performance is pretty well, too. If only they could come to Holland together... If they will, I'll be in front, begging them to play this one.

  • I agree, would love to see them together at some point, but I don't this will ever be possible unless you are in Texas. With 4 kids together, they don't tour on the road together. I did just see Kelly about 2 months ago and it was great.
