I don't exactly know how to rate any guitarist past or present greater than Danny.I mean is their a context where Danny would have found him self in over his head?A jazz setting a country setting, blues, rockabilly, solo on stage with an electric? The guy laid down Harlem Nocturn with a click track!!! I was lucky enough to have met him he was very gracious with his time and appreciative of everyone who dug roots music. I sure miss him.Can you imagine Jimmy Bryant and Danny tearing it up?
What a talented guy, DannyG..... wonder what he is doing in heaven at this time... probably watching over some of us and giving us some ideas on guitar....!
I love his tone on that guitar. I think it speaks volumes about Telecasters and Danny himself that the original solidbody electric was that perfect and though they're not as easy to play as say a Strat, he could handle it and get more out of it. Wish he would've used Gibson's more though, especially on the bluesy stuff
Proof that you don't have to have long figures to play HOT guitar.

They called Danny The Humbler cause he humbled all other guitarists that saw him play. One of the best guitarists in the world RIP

All this harmonic-minor and tapping-idiots should have a look at Danny Gatton (a real musician).
