  • the less comm board will work on that t o get thoses channels they have one for the 858 uniden pll

  • Iv'e got a TRC-475 Handheld. I'll make a video of it here shortly.

  • good evening.nice radio. how much cost?please the price

  • Thank you for the comment. Unfortunally they don't make these radios anymore. Sometimes you find them on Ebay.

  • I have 2 x TRC-449 SSB 18 channel radios 9/10 condition - not butchered or screwdrivered.

The Uniden 858 chassis used in these radios stands out a mile in quality and construction.

How have you restored the front panels and is there any key areas that need attention on the PCB.

  • Actually when I bought them they were in pristine condition. I didn't have to do any restoring at all except for a good cleaning...

  • LOL! You can see the posters digital camera refelct off of the front of the radio!!! What a sharp looking little rig! I had a 451 once and i should have kept it. It was a talker. A little known fact is that in the 451, and a few other rigs there was actuually a speech processor board installed in the rigs. One of my techs showed me this inside i think, a 451 once. Pretty cool!

  • my friend has the same radio

    check out my radios

    5 stars

  • I have one, if anyone's interested!!..Chjeers!

  • Sure let me know!

  • I agree these are great radios, Radio Shack has got a bad rap for making junk radios but the 449, 450, 451 457, 458 and 459 are some of the best CB radios ever built. I have a TRC-451 and get reports of Kenwood sounding audio with a non-amplified Turner RK-56. People are now realizing how good these radios really are and prices are climbing when you can find them for sale. Craigslist is great for such finds.

  • Is the TRC 453 a good radio too?

  • Yes it's not a bad little radio, simple and easy to use. The 449 has better filters and a better construction but is also bigger radio.

  • beautiful radio

  • For those who think this is the same board as the President Adams,Washington,Grant,...Teaberry,520,540 and the Realistic base 458,457,and the cobra 138 xlr 132 ..etc.etc.etc...and many more am and other ssb radio I did'nt mention...your right it's the famous UNIDEN PLL 858 board..Ham guys convert these to 10,6,20 meters because it's easy to do and these boards are getting hard to find and there not making some of the parts anymore so ..keep 'em you may need them for parts

  • I picked up a TRC-449 from e-bay for over 50.00 bucks. I had one about 18 years and I missed it so this one will stay with me for a long time...

  • I hear you... I like these radios so much that I have 6 of them, I don't plan to sell none of them, these are keepers, these are getting harder and harder to find. Their crystal filters are amazing, you can pick up a weak station so clear even if you get no signal reading on the meter. Great SSB CB Radios!

  • Wow dude! This is UNREAL!! That 449 on the bottom is the one that I built. Are you in Canada? My ebay user name is ssb4all.What are tho odds that I would come across this on youtube.I wish you would have showed a picture of it powered up so I could see it again.Really miss that one.Alex.

  • Hello Alex,

what a small world eh? Yes, I am in Canada, this actually was a trial video in fact my first video that I uploaded to YouTube. I haven't had the chance to try the radio yet, I had it ON for the first week then I packed it away because hopefully I'll be moving in the Spring. Once I have a chance I'll make another video with it in action and share it with the world. So subscribe to my videos to be able to watch it.

    Cheers!

    Jorge

  • I thinks it has the same Uniden board like the President Adams. These are the best transceivers ever built. Chrystal filters etc... Do you want to sell one of yours :-))

    73s!

  • Yeah nice radio, I have one also, picked it up for 15 bucks..It's like brand new...

  • You were very lucky picking one up for $15.

Now I have 5 of them, I'm looking around for a modification to unlock the clarifier 5Kcs up and 5 down. All the mods. I can find on the net are about 3kcs. Also I need to find an original instruction manual.

  • very nice rig how old is that TRC-449 and do you know wear I could get one? I want to get started in cb radio for awhile now and i think the TRC 449 is a good start what do you think??

  • Hello there,

welcome to the world of CB radio. I acquire most of my radios on Ebay, from time to time you see a Realistic TRC-449 for sale, just type the radio model in the search bar and if there is anything available it will display the items available. Age of this radio is very close to 30 years old, that's my favourite old timer CB. Good luck!

  • hey man thanks would you happen to have one for sale? or know anyone let me know thanks !!!

  • Your best bet is to look on Ebay daily, from time to time you see one for sale. Once you see one grab it. Not to long ago was one mint with a box on Ebay.

  • Howdy, nice rig those Realistic TRC-449 are,i have one that i have been attempting to repair for a while now,i really love the rig, nice sound too,i also have the base version of the rig,the old TRC-458,and as for an amateur radio operator useing CB,hey, all bands are helpfull in the event of emergency or anything else,cb is ok no matter what,i may not use it much, but i STILL have mine.

  • Now I have 4 of these radios, that proves how much I like these radios...

It's funny this was my first video on youtube I just added for a test, and now it has over 2000 views, amazing this youtube thing. The best thing that ever happened, I spend hours watching videos.

  • A Ham running CB!!! Thats blasphemy!! HiHi

    73 DE VO1GXG

  • True, I operate any band to exception of 6 meters, only because at the moment I don't have a 6 meter rig. If there's is any type of propagation on the 11 meters for sure you'll find me there as I have may friends overseas that still use CB radio.

  • That's why 27 mhz is included in most of the wider band HF rigs. Amateurs has been accessing 11 meter band and fidling with CB frequencies from time to time, at least for experimentation and some QSO's.

  • Bom trabalho!!!
