when it comes to the Us, the GOP went so far right they can't be considered conservative anymore, and the democrats are the new conservatives - there hasn't been a god lib party since bill clinton.

i feel that such views are rather laughable and most europeans, in my opinion, would agree with me. there are countries on our continent that can call themselves conservative, but in no way represent what it means to be "european"; romania, serbia, croatia, bosnia, belarus, russia, greece and turkey.

It's pretty funny to think we actually spend less on health care; you guys (and us Finns) are at 9% of GDP... and the current US healthcare system is costing them over 15%, Per capita numbers are even worse.

But 9% is low even for nations as small as ours. We should increase it here as well. But alas, thats not likly here in Sweden when the current party is right-winged....

Ni Bevan - what a great compliment! I think my politics has always about what's 'moral'. So what if my version doesn't fit in with standard notions of liberal vs conservative? It's a personal interpretation of course.

I really don't spend any time with people I consider to be 'conservative' otherwise my teeth start to hurt...

On the larger scale super wealthy make donations to charities purely to get tax breaks.
