One other thing I noticed is that they took out the orchestral part in the middle of the song, where Tuomas replaced it with some tinny piano then the song goes right into Emppu's solo.

It's not as good for that reason, PLUS it's missing the overall beauty that it once had.

At least she seems to stay in tune for this song. Unfortunately, it just doesn't have the same impact as it used to with Tarja, it's missing something.

If I had never heard the song before, I'd have nothing negative to say about it, I just wouldn't like the song that much.

But knowing that is used to be a GREAT song, it's kind of sad that it won't ever be performed how it USED to be performed. It's a loss for the world.

I know what you mean. I have another against Anette and I also think she did pretty good here. But like you, I think Sleeping Sun is just one of Tarja's songs that should remain untouchable. It's her signature song, like Swanheart. Signature songs that portray her deep, rich, passionate voice.

bands change all the time...compare angels fall first to once, they've changed since then, since once, they've changed even more...if bands don't change, they become slaves to the familiar, and become boring, and the band doesn't enjoy playing as much if all their stuff sounds the same. i embrace Nightwish's change, becaue i love the band no matter what...no matter who is singing. seeing them live, with anette, i realise how happy they must be at the moment...they were just amazing!!!

I like her voice. But not to take Tarja's place. She has a Very different style and lacks some pesence on stage. She will loose her carrear this way.

Nightwish will loose there fans. At least dont use previous songs.. People will always compare there voices and styles. I compared Sleeping voices on the two clips. Tarja didnt had voice for that song on the second clip either.

Honestly, Anette will never be able to replace Tarja, but not for her. She sings very well but check Tarja with the band and see that there is nothing to do. Lots of bands, no matter who the main composer is, when they change the singer do not reach what the fans need. I miss Tarja and I blame the whole band including her not to be able to keep the band together.

Sorry, she seems like a really nice person from what I've seen, and by all accounts, her singing is technically very good, and I really wish I liked her voice, but I just don't, and all I feel from this performance is disappointment, because of the emotions that this song used to rise in me, and no longer does.
