@k0smon That’s probably about right. My concert horn is a Bach Stradivarius which cost me an arm and a leg in 1974. Out of morbid curiosity I priced a similar horn about a year ago and thought the salesman was kidding me!

Good bass trombone - tone has a nice solid core to it and pitch is solidly on center. I've played many performances of this oratorio and it's always been a great treat to play this bass trombone part. Do you have any tips for practising and hitting the higher register with precision and articulation? I am playing this as part of an orchestra with a choir and our conductor is taking it much faster than this and i find seem to need a split second to "prepare" for the high G leap. Any tips? :)

Basically it's a combination of flexibility, high range skills and projection of air :) read about these things! David Vining also gives skype lessons :)
