  • the VT drumline...

    has a marching xylophone!

    lmfao

  • I think its hilarious that VT plays a warmup exercise first, and then gets it shoved back in their face.

  • wwooww, VT REALLY got their poop pushed in, I felt that all way over here O.O

  • wow...tough band in VT...THEY HAVE A XYLOPHONE!! not a very tough sound...lol...GO NOLES! SCALP 'EM!

  • god i hate matched grip

  • theyre playing capn cotton

  • marching bells are sexy as hell ;)

  • There is a reason the big 8 is "often imitated but never duplicated" and the chiefs are "world reknown" and tech is not. Nothing against their band. Not like they can't play or anything. Not to mention that it was mentioned by a va tech member- what do we have? The reply by another hokie was- nothing. Chiefs won fair and square.

  • i'm a huge virginia tech fan, always have, and i personally love our Stick It In cheer... rip..

but FSU set a standard for the modern drumline, every highschool and college drumline wants to be them. and if they don't, they're idiots.

  • bullshit!!! no show style marching band wants to be like FSU!!!

however, the big 8 is very talented as a core style drumline. if i was interested in core style bands that would be my first choice of schools!!!

  • holy shit, sloppy as fuck!

  • is that hoppy on cymbals!!!!

  • Big 8 is straight up skill.

    They rock.

  • BIG 8 is AWESOME! From a Marching Chiefs Majorette Alumni! Go NOLES!

  • I hate to break it to you guys and girls but VT were not even trying to do a Drum off. Tech was just playing a few warm-ups and some random stuff. They never planned it to be a drum-off. If they would have found out that FSU wanted a drum off they probably would have won.

  • Only one small problem with that. VT's band is only known to the local hillbillies who attend the games. The Marching Chiefs is "World Renowned" baby!

  • Well it seems that our "local hillbillys" kicked your "world renowned" drum line's ass.

  • that's your opinion, but here's a fact for ya; you damn sure didn't win the game!!

  • FSU won that game. They won the drumoff too.

    ;-)

  • Actually we did win the game. We also won the drum off.

  • Wait, did you watch the video or did you just guess?

  • you can not be serious

  • oh...i must have been watching another video...I just saw VT playing some high school warmup and getting freakin schooled.

  • VT kiddies need to go back to middle-school band class if they're gonna play that slow. They put way too much emphasis on their xylophone/ bells.

Faster/ more upbeat playing and more "tunes" would describe a decent college band, they earned their win.

I would certainly give FSU a superior, whereas VT on this video, I would be skeptical to. In short FSU won by a landslide and to challenge that would show a person in denial.

  • FSU sucks VT is a hole lot better then FSU. the only reason why they "WON" is becase they can play faster and they have more tunes

  • So what you are saying is that VT is better than FSU except in the area of playing and knowing tunes.

    Way to go.

  • No. They 'WON' because they captured the crowds attention. That is what they were intending to do. Not to 'play faster' or cleaner, but to entertain the crowd. If you want to sit there and think that FSU and VT did this to see who is better, then you're wrong. They are drummers who are having fun together. Nothing more.

  • I don't like the comment about the warm-ups. Yeah FSU can pkay all that fancy stuff, but can they play double beat clean? You have to be able to play the basics clean to play anything else. I'm not saying they wouldn't be able to. I'm just saying that just because VT's playing exercises doesn't mean they aren't as good.

  • Or, they're cleaner and have better chops than VT. Plus, they can play faster that way. So, I guess that would make FSU a WHOLE lot better than VT.

  • i hate to break it to ya but beatin the VT drumline isnt sayin much altho fsu owns xD

  • FSU frigging owned Virginia Tech.

  • Go Seminoles!!!! former Marching Chief flag girl here! :-)

  • VT pretty much got their asses handed to them.

I still don't see why you'd want to use bells in a line. It just doesn't sound good, plain and simple.

  • Wow... No, I think you both lose. First off, no one cares about the Big 8. Is that even a conference any more? And FSU's cadence sounded alot like something I played in high school... Sad? Yeah, kinda. I'll bet it was fun, though... Embarassing, but fun.

  • I think you're referring to the Big 10. The Big 8 is the name of the drumline at FSU. If it sounds like something you played in highschool, its because your highschool copied us.. like many highschools in Florida and the surrounding states.

  • Safe to say V-Tech got there ass handed to them.

  • Yeah, totally copied off of FSU. And yeah, Big 8 is totally the name of the Drumline.

  • FSU automatically wins because they dont have bells as part of their line, and they play traditional. Their stuff was way better too. They also tuned their snares better.

  • GO FSU!!!!

  • Who or what is the Big 8?

  • The Big 8 is the name of Marching Chiefs' drumline.

  • Go Hokies!! Ehhh...FSU was better.

  • i love the one guy who goes crazy during any small part. haha

  • You think the 2 of us (FAMU and FSU) could ever play against each other w/o having Tallahassee succumb to a race riot?

  • No. lol But that'd be fun to see!

  • i would love to c dat battle

  • haha virgina

  • I would expect as much seeming how FAMU is right next door ;)

  • big 8 kicks ass whooooooo yeah

  • omg this is the hottest shit ever

  • oooooooooo yaaaaaaaaaaaaa go big 8 go michal
