m3e46seal- the difference in both cars is that the csl is tuned differently and it also has the amazing airbox but it can be put on a standard e46 m3 and sound the same, body wise the csl is way different, thinner glass, carbon fiber, different tires, they made the csl to make a hardcore, lightweight m3

The part's for a M3 csl are extravagantly expensive. Your best bet is to just surf the many bmw forum's and ask there what is the best way to upgrade your M. This airbox is like a 3000+ usd piece of kit.

I love how the straight-sixes move on their mounts when revved. Even the lowly 2.0 in the E36 does it too. It didn't sound too far from the rawness of the stock E46, either and having been parked next to a forum buddy when he had his E46 M3, the E36 I had revved on start-up and his didn't.

Cars need to get rawer again - we're loosing he free-breathing, unleashed engine sounds.

The CSL doesn't have an MAF (mass airflow meter). It has an alpha/N software instead which calculates the air mass from other data (throttle valve opening angle, engine speed, etc.). Unfortunately I cannot help you with the install though but wish you good luck with it!

The Oil dipstick housing needs to be refitted, as the CSL normally doesn't have one.

If you have SMG, you need to buy the CSL SMG Oil Expansion tank. As it was originally integrated in the M3 Air Intake.

Then some additional parts to mount the airbox and connect the hoses.

The pedigree of this engine, it has won engine of the year for 6 years and BMW continue's with the new v8.

also how are you going to check your oil? unlike the CSL, the normal M3 is not dry sumped...

The CSL is NOT dry sumped. You can check the oil electronically in the CSL.

I still have the oil dipstick, but a little bit modified to fit around the Airbox, so I am not forced to use anything electrical to check the oil stand, what I also prefer as I do not really trust the electrical way.
