im not a big fan of domesticated vegtables, but i absolutley LOVE herbs and many other exotic plants. Artichokes are probly amongst my favourite... something you might wanna try, is buying marinated artichoke hearts (kirkland is the best brand) and place them in between crackers and philadelphia cheese. I know it sounds nasty but it tastes like cream-cheas jalepino taquitto. ;]
Take your scissors and snip off the sticker on the end of each leaf! It only takes a minute or two per choke, but really improves the eating experience!
Can't wait to try this out. Also looking for a recipe for baked Artichoke with a Brie stuffing mix minus the choke. Had it at a local restaurant in Charlotte NC which has since closed.
looks good! I'm doing it now... the herb: parsley, with herb de provence... some himalayan sea salt... a little 'vegan butter'... got the arty's at the artichoke festival... one thing different: I quartered the garlic length wise for added "release" - we shall see. Thanks for this beautiful recipe. I understand the idea of "basting" better now from one of your notes. Well done video. Peace, Khy'em Amri
the heart inside is edible sans les 'fuzz' - eat the meat off of the leaves by dipping in a fine olive oil, real butter, or vegan-butter... - eat the stem by dipping and enjoying...use the herbs on the side as a subtle flavor enhancer! Peace!
@tulip2111 Hehe, I love how you commented on something I posted 4 years ago :P I was 12 back then... I still haven't tasted an artichoke! How crazy is that? Thank you for the description, though =] it was much appreciated! :D
A little off topic, but have you ever cooked with hearts of palm? I have a couple cans that were given to me and I have no idea what to do with them. Are they anything like Artichokes? Love your vids, BTW. Oh, and I plan on buying your 'Hollandaise' T-Shirt in the near future :)
Hearts of palm!!Delicious! I make a fantastic salad that's just VERY good tomatoes and hearts of palm and good olive oil. Down here in argentina theyre relatevely cheap, we can have them any time we want!
Apart from artichoke hearts, I've never really delved into artichoke much. I've only had the leaves once! (not very popular in Australia). Do you eat these in a similar fashion? Just nipping at the base of the leaves until you get to the heart?
are artichokes nicee? :D

But you don't tell us how to actually eat it after all that. Is everything in there edible now? I have no artichoke experience.

Take the leaf and eat the 'meaty' part...

If you do not know what artichokes are and have never eaten them before a key note is never eat the hair/thistle middle part of an artichoke.

yes, thats really the only way. Scraping the base of the leaves with your front teeth. Very good for a romantic dinner...a sensual appetizer.
