I have done that before as a ref... just reffing a game where the guys obviously weren't there to play hockey. I was reffing alone with two horribly chippy teams. One guy speared another one so the entire bench cleared. I called the penalty, stepped off the ice, went to the dressing room and then went home. People from both teams were so upset they tried to break down the dressing room door, the rink rat had to call the cops.
