Reason for this is that it will just stop half way or closer to the weaker spring. This is why most use an ejection force from swing or thrusting the arm forward in some models, that locks the blade, then using the string to "unlock" so the spring can bring it back.
Nice work I must compliment you on your effort the problem even with the real design is that in reality you can not make it go in and out on command through one string at least i believe so because theoretically if it is spring powered at least you cant get the spring to shoot one way and another in the opposite way the would settle in the middle so yeah unless you want to project the "throw movement" it wont work sorry to be a kill joy

fyi in the book AC2 leo had to modify the original so you could keep your finger lol all he did was put a plate of metal between your arm and the blade so the blade would come out far beneath your finger.
