This is not a partisan issue. When terrorists are willing to blow up your country's landmarks and kill people in the name of their god, then desperate times call for desperate measures (i.e. spying on citizens). The NSA isn't spying on our private communications to find out who's screwing who, but to find information on terrorist plots and things of that nature.
If you think they'll stop at spying on "suspected terrorist" you're naive and stupid. There is no excuse to dodge the court and no judge that would deny him a warrant on an honest-to-God threat. But thanks to the elections we can say goodbye to legislation like this in 2007.
