  • "singing poetic phenomena" Well played, Sir, well played.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this particular recording? Or how I could download it onto my ipod?? Thanks : )

  • @LLindsey1427 I could send it to you if you want, just msg me about it :)

  • Yeah I'm from Iowa and I just watched the whole hour on a Friday night. We are special. Thanks for noticing right from the get-go Ani. Did that old guy call you Annie once or am I just that old? And Oh Andy!!!

  • Damn! Ani looks like Angelina Jolie :) Same big sensual eyes and epic lips :O

  • I love this, especially the version of in or out.

  • Ya know, folks, when I read the comments below while I'm listening to/watching these videos, I don't want to read your bitchy bullshit.

I'd rather read about people's experiences with the artist, gratitude, constructive criticism even. But this adolescent argumentative banter is just goddamn stupid.

Keep it to messaging or something if you give a damn.

    There.

  • kjyujfhh

  • I was AT this concert. One of the best shows I can remember. She was brilliant that night. I cannot explain how happy this video makes me.

It also reminds me how much I used to enjoy her rapport with Andy on drums.

  • Haha, you lucky devil... Glad you could see it again - wish I could see my first Ani experience on video...

  • Booo I hate her hair here.. It's so queer! But she's still pretty like this nevertheless.. I love her voice so much

  • @Cebuana7

For one: do you even know who Ani is? She was a leading voice for QUEER WOMYN! Of course she looks queer...it might be because she is queer.

for two:i'm glad that you think queer and pretty are not two mutually exclusive terms. Thats great!

for three: straight people are fucking moronic.

  • ..... I think it is funny to hear someone defend the whole queer thing, and then saying that straight people are moronic. How can you say that all straight people are like that? That is so stupid and judgemental.

  • Straight people ARE moronic. Their constant navigation of the world thinking that it is their's and their's alone has lead them to feel they are more important than the rest of us. Much like the comment above, the straight majority ARE moronic because they can't tell that they are saying something moronic.

Furthermore, I don't see the problem "defending the whole queer thing" and then go on to say straights are moronic....

  • You didn't seem to have a problem defending straight people & then calling me stupid and judgmental.

Wouldn't you say that calling me stupid is pretty stupid and judgmental? That is the circler logic of neo-liberal this-land-is-our-land bullshit. Everyone should be equal, unless they are unequal to someone else, then they are less equal than us. It's dumb, and it's a bullshit way of looking at the world.

As look as someone can call me a dyke...i get to call straights like you moronic.

  • I didn't say that gay people are stupid and judgemental, I said: that IS. As in: it _ IS_ stupid and judgemental to say that all straight people are moronic. I am bisexual myself, but I don't judge people because of their sexuality. if gay people want to be respected then they need to respect straight people too.

  • @Bollemedrosiner

Nope. See...here is where you are wrong again. I don't need to respect the boot that is on my neck. I don't need to respect the dominant group that continues to oppress me. Also i'm glad that you say you don't judge people because of their sexuality, but you are a bi(nary)sexual which places value on the ridge binary dualism which rejects transgender voices and experiences rejects their sexual expressions and relationships. So nice job on that one.

  • You need to chill. You don't know shit about me, so don't tell me what I am and what I am not because of me saying I am bisexual. You don't know what I think of transgenders.

  • @Bollemedrosiner HAHAHA Transgenders? hahaha.... well you are right....but NOW I know what you think of transgender"s" hahahaha

  • @Bollemedrosiner you know that the Bi in Bisexual refers to the binary gender dualism. which technically means that you are only attracted to those within that paradigm...so all i'm saying is by claiming a bi(nary) sexual identity you automatically, and systematically disclaim trans voices and identities. I don't know shit about you...you are right....but if you can't stand up to the logical framework of your own sexuality don't shoot the massager who explains your busted identity position.

  • @Bollemedrosiner Also...you DIDN'T call gay people stupid or judgmental you called ME stupid and judgmental....and I'm not gay I'm queer...I am not some assimilationist who believes if i act like I'm straight the straight world will invite me to the table. See I know that even if the assimilationists get invited to eat at the straight table...they are still fags in straight eyes. We are still fags no matter if or if you don't respect straight people. So i ask you...what is the point?

  • their eyes are all asking

are you in, or are you out

    and I think, oh man,

    what is this about?

    tonight you can't put me

    up on any shelf

    'cause I came here alone

    I'm gonna leave by myself

  • @DaliceMalice lololol

For one: are you offended? Because I didn't mean anything bad with that comment :P it's just that I don't like short hair that much.. but it does suit her face.

For two and three: you suck cunt.. You shouldn't take shit this personally, makes you really shallow

  • nice hair Andy!

    GEEK!

    Ani looks great!

  • "what the fuck was that chord?!" rotfl I Love Ani

  • The interviewer talks WAAAAY too much

  • he's excruciating

  • So excruciating. He talked more than she did. Sorry I went to hit the reply button and hit 'bad comment' by accident. Someone else please undo.

  • This is priceless to me, it reminds me of how much we all have grown and what a chance we have to evolve.

    Sebs and Aubs...:)

  • Every tool is a weapon...I bought my first Ani TAPE, yea, in '96. Out of Range. It, and subsequent albums, got me through me teens and now I have been blessed with TWINS no less. I plan on rearing my daughter on ANI and my son. Hopefully her honest perspective will enlighten this little man on...how to be a man...through the eyes of an honest woman?

  • look how much fun she's having.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I have realized that Ani has totally evolved over time, but this interview demonstrates how she has maintained an essence of authenticity, care, and concern.

  • Wow thanks. I've been looking for footage w/ Andy. Saw them around this time in a small coffee shop at WWU in Bellingham, WA. I bought all her tapes that night. Ha- yes tapes.

  • thanks for the setlist.

  • Let's enjoy this wonderful video because that's why it was posted. Stop starting fights over opinions please. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. Please keep the peace.

  • I'm sorry if it seemed like I was starting a fight, but I was not the one who called anyone a douche or jackass. I believe it's the height of cowardice to express an opinion and object to it being challenged, especially if that opinion is aggressive and expressed in defiinite terms. But relax, I'm not here to pick fights, I won't say anything else on the subject. Enjoy the video everyone

  • dude, this is youtube, get over yourself. i'm not going to have a stupid bout with you about my opinion of a video, by leave it i meant leave me alone.

  • "get over myself"?? I'm sorry steelersfan but you're the one calling people "douches" and "jackasses". So it's fine for you to criticize others but if someone calls you on it you tell them not to take themselves so seriously. Don't worry I'll leave you alone but if you didn't enjoy this exchange then I recommend you think twice before expressing an opinion, especially when it's casting the stone of calling someone a douche.

  • check out any ani interview with amy goodman or utah phillips, now those are life changing...

  • i agree with everyone who said that someone should have put a cone of silence around that jackass interviewer.what could have been a good interview was an exceedingly annoying hour of stupid ass interruptions by an incompetent conceited interviewer.

this statement has been said many times about harold channer. Amy Goodman could show him a thing or two, lol. im just going to take ani's advice happypappy21 and I'm going to decide for myself what i do and what i can say, do with it what you will

  • her name is pronounced ah-ni and he said annie plus he sounds like a huge douche, you can tell she's uncomfortable.

  • He did pronounce it Ah-ni and didn't come across as a douch. I think you've given the typical "anti-media" reaction without actually paying attention to the interview. Just because he's over 40 and didn't have the same hairstyle as her (ok scrap that), and didn't have a ring through his nose doesn't mean he wasn't making valid observations or connecting with what she's about. She didn't look uncomfortable in this interview or any less then she usual does. He did talk a bit too much though

  • Actually my response stemmed from observing the whole interview and I'm not sure why you would assume I've given the typical anti-media stance considering I was just stating my opinion(this is america right, happy?) My statement also had nothing to do with differing hairstyles or appearance and I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion either. Do be perfectly honest, what is the point of interviewing someone if you're going to talk the whole time? that was why i called him a douche. leave it.

  • Hmm, seems you're all mixed up there steelersfan. I didn't have a problem with you expressing your opinion, just the opinion itself (oh and this isn't America, this is the internet). I was just stating my opinion too but by telling me to "leave it" you're the one wishing to impede my right to freedom of speech (smacks of hypocrisy there). Your muddled response only causes me to further question the credibility of your rationale. However I warmly invite your further comment as much as I dread it

  • Oh wow... I wish so badly this was for sale on DVD... I would pay such great amounts.

  • this guy talks too much

  • I grew up with Ani. I bought my first Cd of hers when I was only 12. I am 24 and I have seen her live 7 times and I still buy every CD she puts out but THIS, vintage Ani is what I fell in love with. THANK YOU for posting this. THANK YOU THANK YOU.

  • Whats up with her right arm?

  • I know I'm being redundant but this is so so great. The good old punkfolk infusion going on. And so simple and strong!

  • that interviewer guy talks too much - i wanted to hear ani not him

  • holy vintage ani! thanks so much for posting this. :)

  • Ah back in the day when the audience didn't sing over her!!! Thanks so much for posting this!!!!

  • this is amazing footage ive never see before!!! bless you! its priceless!

  • God DAMN she's amazing. I grew up with her....Fucking amazing. Thanks Mr Channer - LOVE this.
