corate radio like the one thats on here they suck i like the guy who really owned o non corate radio station the guy who owned it was areally nice guy even knew how to maintence it and he ran it also so big company radio sucks u guys suck.............................
The 90s are slipping further away? If anyone has forgotten the 90s music its the people who weren't born in the 90s. NOT to mention, 90s music will never be forgotten because so much musical influence occurred in the 90s. Most people know this. I never heard of this station and find this to be BS.
Just listening to this is sad, the was one of the last decent radio stations and now it's gone.Radio in Sacramento sucks now, i didnt even get to listen to it because i was on a trip then all of a sudden it was gone.Dont get me wrong i miss the 90s but i was born in 93 so i dont even half the songs.
the buzz really sucks. I found an "OK" substitute for kwod, 94.7.. definitely no where near as great as kowd. but it has some good older alternative, and some newer stuff that kwod played.
The Sac region now has ONLY KDVS and KVMR for anything resembling new music that is not top 40, and due to the freeform formats (which are great) can be very hit and miss. There's too much repetition in the region and the FCC has dropped the ball in that regard. The area needs at least ONE station willing to play an indie format. We have none, considering that both stations I mentioned before are out of town. I think there's a low power station called KYDS, but their playlist is pretty limited.
It's a bit sad that KWOD is gone, even though I haven't really listened since I was a teenager in the '90s. Good memories from the early and mid '90s back when alternative was still fresh and real. The new format doesn't seem like a good idea. I don't think many will want to an all '90s station that mixes songs from completely different genres, but someone must have thought that sounded good ...
KWOD needed a lot of fixing but what they're doing now is worse. They hit their peak around 1992-93, when they phased out the synth-pop stuff (which I like better) in favor of grunge they lost me. Last time I tried to listen to them a few months ago, I tuned out when they started playing "Come As You Are" for the 5 zillionth time. They'd play "Personal Jesus" but not one track from the NEW Depeche Mode album. Live 105's been just as boring ever since CBS took them over.
And seriously- it's WAY too early to get nostalgic about the 90s- they never went away as far as I'm concerned! Past attempts to dedicate a station to one decade have failed- KABL did all 70s in the mid 90s, which was a great idea but played mostly familiar stuff (like Paul Simon) and few obscurities that hadn't been heard in years. 92.1 in Sac did all 80s but they're now 50s thru 70s.
Radio should concentrate on NEW music anyways- I already have all the classics on CD and 8-track!
ugh... no reason to listen to ANY radio in Sacramento anymore on those long drives. Now I have to just settle for Live105.3 when I can get it... such a whack ending to a good station. Gonna definitely miss xbeats too....
Sacramento now has no station that plays the cool music. We are not Orange County. I don't buy that story that the parent company had nothing to do with it. To me it looks like they decided hipsters only listen to i-pods and satellite, then gave the station to their spoiled step-daughter.
News flash: Most of us are POOR you stupid bastards. Of COURSE we listen to the radio.
I tune in some times, in hopes of KWOD returning. No luck. Every time I tune in, the same song plays. Either Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (which rocks, but The Buzz just plays it over and over again) or some outdated crappy rap song. Come on, being a 90's radio station, The Buzz should have a shit load of good music, but it seems their play list is far inferior to any other radio station in Sac
The Buzz is like trying to figure itself out right now and it's so damn lame. They played some Warren G and then later on they played some Celine Dion I mean come on! This recession blows!
omg im so sad now. Radio is like dead to me now and especially for it to close on memorial day. i was so sad when i went to the website and it said 'kwod is no more' sooooooooooooooo sad :(
This shit just makes me sick! KWOD is the only station that keeps me up to date with the current rock and alternative hits. Not to mention the weird songs that just catches your attention. The Buzz...what a waste of radio frequency!
Thanks for posting this- I listened to KWOD a lot around 1992-94 but they just got too damn repetitive like most other stations. I didn't even know they'd folded until I read it in the News & Review yesterday.
REALLY sucks that they changed the call letters- they stood for QUADRAPHONIC sound (they broadcast the 2 rear channels on 106.6 I believe, but quadraphonic FM was very short-lived.) They should've brought back multi-channel music- KDTS anyone?

This is sad. No wonder why when I tuned to 106.5 Yesterday I couldn't find any alternative...instead, I received some lame 90's remix.
I want to cry. :(
Wait...I ALREADY DID. :'(
