The truth is that causality requires a longitudinal study where randomly assigned parents agree to spank or don't. This has never been done. While a few studies show spanked kids are worse behaved, the likelihood is worse behaved kids get spanked more due to behavior, not the other way around. BTW Straus is a sociologist, not a psychologist, & few psychologists agree w/his extremism.

@ohiospankster i would be happy to... classical conditioning is when you teach by pairing one thing to another (ex. ivan dogs) operant conditioning is a little different. it is when you try to increase or decrease a behavior with reinforcements and punishments... both are similar in that they both pair a stimulus with a action to get a response.. but with classical conditioning it is pretty much only reinforcements... operant conditioning added punishments... now i would love to see the

Brain got what he deserved. Benjamin was being an asshole and disrupting class. Plus he rose up against Ms. Chambers. He was treatening her. She asked him nicely to mind her or leave the classroom. Her actions were justified! Brian should've left the decision about how to discipline students to Ms.Chambers. In my school days, if I had done that, I would've gotten a whuppin' too.
