This writer is not saying that African Americans are better than others. He is saying that African Americans have unique contributions to make. And if one fails to make those unique contributions because one is distracted or afraid or addicted, is to leave the human race less - fulfilled. Do others have unique contributions? Surely. But this piece is addressed to those who need to recognize that they have a unique contribution to make and should be about the business of doing it.
