I reside in Bria's hometown and try to always catch her performing. Her skill/talents go beyond trumpet playing &singing. When she leads one of her bands she "entertains" the audience with wit and interesting stories. She really is special. I left a recent "free" outdoor performance ('09 Vancouver Int'l Jazz Fest.") feeling like I should have had to pay a hundred $ to see that level of entertainment. She's stellar in every respect. She has a new CD"Fresh" and Dal Richard's has a new CD w/Bria.
Nope, just two on YouTube I think. I had a couple others in y archive, but there were video problems that made them unsuitable for posting. Such is life. Darn!
This little gal has it all going on, playing and singing!!Fantastic!! I have heard through the grapevine, that even at her age she is considered one of the best! I agree!!!
WOW! Bria sure has a great voice and can blow sweet notes! She is the best that I've seen in a young performer! She will go a long way in the music business! Who couldn't fall in love with her! "Deed I Do"!
Ernie Carson said Bria has played cornet now? Just looking (still trumpet)and there she is playing with our good friends including Karl Walterskirchen on Banjo. Karl was my room mate in the month long gig in Beijing 1995 with Ernie's Castle Jazz Band. Bria is all one could ask for as a leader and showman. She is honing her sound and that's why I was curious about the cornet as a switch. Know anything about that Tom? Thanks again for another fine posting. Randy
I am a trumpet player (although , not a very good one), and I can tell very little difference between the sound of a cornet and a trumpet. The cornet has a bit softer mellower sound compared to the sharper brighter sound of a trumpet. They both key the same, and if you can play one it's the same to play the other. Many of the trumpet players in trad jazz bands have a cornet available to play also.
So true! My friends like Ernie Carson and Jim Goodwin play cornet and each gets a totally different sound from their horns. Hot tight driving subtly sharp crisp (Ernie) to artistic breathy warm back seat(Goodwin). I started on an old antique of my dad's in the 4th grade but switched to TUBA as there were too many trumpet players and too many holes in my piece. LOL. Ran

Hey, Bria is great, no doubt about it, but Simon puts up a pretty good show, whether he's playing brass or reeds. Australia's loss is your gain.

Oh yes, I love Simon's music!
And he is fabulous on anything he plays!
Thanks for watching.

Great stuff. Used to see Simon Stribling in Melbourne Orstralia back in the very early 90's. Great to see him here again with a great band!
