I've only just seen the first couple of episodes of Torchwood but so far Owen comes across as a douche. Owen was always a conflicted character. His fiance dies, leading him to join Torchwood, almost in the same way James Bond became the suave, stand-offish, indifferent guy because he lost Vesper Lynd. For me as a guy who has no interest in him sexually, he's a mixed bag. There's no excuse for screwing another man's girl, but he seemed pretty dedicated to the group when personal issues didn't conflict.

@MermaidJess22 I'd have to disagree. Tosh was more calm-tempered, and would be more accepting of Owen's faults, while Gwen comes off as a overbearing perfectionist. It would have only gone on so long, before they'd fight, and it would rip the team apart, because the sheer amount of yelling going on wouldn't help them at all, during a threat.

I used to not like Owen, but now he's one of my favourite characters! He gets good storylines, funny lines, and his snarky arseholeness is explained by him losing his fiance, his girlfriend, and his mother hating him. Although I have to admit, apart from Gwen, all the Torchwood characters are really interesting!
