I like this entry. When I got to watch several old ESCs on video 15 years ago I was astonished that Finland managed to gather more than 10 votes....Great entry, I read somewhere that this was one of the dark horses, as in that year were Spain and Ireland. Favorites were, as far I know, Germany 2-1, Sweden 3-1, UK 4-1, Israel 5-1, Italy 8-1. When I watched that, I only knew that Germany came second and Norway won. I thought Finland, Italy and Ireland would do well.
I think that 1985 was probably the strongest year of the 1980s at Eurovision, and this is the strongest song from the year. It should have won, but being drawn to perform in 2nd kind of blew its chances (that and being in Finnish. I do think it would have done better if it had been in English).
I just don't understand how this song could only come 9th. Once again Finland was treated unfairly because of the misunderstood Finnish language. The music and performance are both overflowing with energy and emotion. Utterly superb. Could well have been (and should have been) the winner.
@setheurovision94 I agree, this song should have one! I don't understand the words, but I think that adds to the excitement of the song! Ive heard it in English and prefer it in Finnish!!! One of the greatest entries ever I think! ;-)

Shit. We neeeded Lord in order to score. This was 100 % Eurovision and the best Finland can produce.

I just checked, Norway was a 5-1 shot as well.
