I would say a more accurate description of my gov'ts intervention in South America would be that it intervened when the interests of Latin American elites stood in opposition to those of USA elites. Otherwise the two for the most part cooperated.

I don't think I would put so much emphasis on the "Physchic thrill" theory as a basis of support for US policies, but I agree with the underlying premise that we are an expanding empire and our foriegn military bases do not exist to protect our sovereignty. @xdeliriumx1 I would partially agree with you in that the US has supported dictators in Latin America but I think you're oversimplifying. Many of the dictatorships were homegrown and probably could have gotten into to power without US aid.
I would say a more accurate description of my gov'ts intervention in South America would be that it intervened when the interests of Latin American elites stood in opposition to those of USA elites. Otherwise the two for the most part cooperated.

If our present strategy against muslim extremism fails, then one muslim country after another and even non-muslim countries will fall to the muslim extremists. As these countries,now controlled by muslim extremists gain nuclear weapons it can only end in the nuclear holocaust that the world has so long tried to avoid.Our only option would be to launch a first strike of neutron bombs against all muslim countries.Maybe then moderate muslims will have then courage to stand against the extremists.

Only time will tell. Over the past forty years I have been right about so many things that others considered preposterous at the time and I believe that I am right about this. The only thing that stopped the domino theory from playing out in S.E. Asia was the fight between the Khmer Rouge and the North Vietnamese communists after the U.S. was pulled out by Nixon and Kissinger.

The British, even when they controlled 1/4 of the earth, ruled largely through surrogates. I think they had like 1000 officials in Nigeria at the turn of the century... something miniscule. But the basic argument that I would make is that money and labor are fundable. We have at least some similar influence in most countries, which is not economic, but military (intelligence, troops etc). Anyway, Democracy puts on a good front. People still argue athens wasn't an empire...

I agree with your comment if the above were true, but the US hasn't been a Republic for a long time. When Presidents steal elections, when Presidents are assassinated in a Coup, the rule of law and the will of the people no longer exist. Take back the country and reinstate the Republic, this will end the empire, but if your under the illusion the Republic is real you can never bring down the empire.
