hello im gathering the stuff i need to build a game style pack. I am just wondering where you got your sound card from? also where did you get your light kit from? the only one i can find is from jupiter electronics and I cant find the thrower lights only pack lights. I really like how your barrel lights go from just blue to just orange for the different modes, then both for the regular thrower stream. any help would be much appreciated. thanks
The one thing I've always wanted to see in a video game proton pack is the blue lights that flip out of the top and sides of the pack when activating the dark matter generator. That would be swank.
@TheTwistedToads How does that work? In the video game, it appears the blue light portions that extend from the pack simply flip up from the square ridges on the top and sides of the pack.
@GEKGanon if you look closely its shaped like 2/3 of a pie piece so when retraced in real life it would be pushing out the back through the motherboard of course it could be done like that but not accurately done like in the game
To buy one like this would be about $2400. Considering the electronics, parts, and the amount of time and stress involved I think it would be a fair price.
how much did it cost to make?....im pretty handy with shit like this (soldering, etc...) and im seriously considering making a movie version.....any help would be great
I have a plan to make the lights and cyclotron pop ot but to have the whole thing pop out, do a quarter turn, then turn back and go back down is an engineering nightmare. Plus the N-filter folds down and back up as well. It is just alot of work that would cause unwelcome stress in my life. I would like to built a pack that functions almost entirely like the game but I would have to rely on others to do some of the work for me and I'm not willing to do that. Too much money.
Glad to hear that people like the pack. It's not perfect since I built it in four days but my next one will be better. Does anyone think all the switches are overkill? I noticed in the game the wand switches were pretty much the same as the movie packs but with that you can't run all those extra functions of the vg pack. If anyone doesn't like the pack please tell me why so I may be able to make adjustments to my plans in the future. All comments are welcome except jealous prop bashing.
ok in my opinion, and please take this with a grain of salt, i liked to songs on the pack, tho i fell they are not need to be built in, anyway i think you could try to to have fewer buttons/ switches, you only really need 5 or 6 buttons/switches, 1 for the proton, status streams, meson collider, slime blower, cooldown switch, fire button, and on/off button and you have it were the secondary turn on by pushing the button a 2nd time, and....
@paranormalreplicas for the lights, i really could see in the video, but you could have a heat meter on the side to show how "hot" the pack is, and if it "overheats" the pack auto-cools down like in the game, and you don't have to have a health meter or a meter to show the ghosts strength because you can't see that on the side of the pack while you wear it, and maybe you have the pack change when you switch between modes like in the game, just a idea, oh could you make a video on how you made it
I included the songs because people love that stuff when you are walking around. I used all the switches because it was easier to build that way. Bare in mind I built it in 4 days. The lights for the overheat meter are not accurate because I used two chasers and could not get the pots to sync together. The ghost and health meter are not needed but still cool. I plan to have the cyclotron lights and moving parts switch similar to the game in my next version. Thanks for the input.
@paranormalreplicas Re: switches - you might be able to cut them down to the more traditional set if you use a multi-position knob switch somewhere. I'd have to sit down and think about it to be sure, but it should be doable, since you wouldn't be looking to run multiple "modes" at the same time. Might also be able to switch the cyclotron lights with that if you were of a mind, but that's just a random thought and would require some additional circuits.

@GEKGanon
I plan on doing that this year if all goes well.
paranormalreplicas 3 months ago
@GEKGanon its impossible the physics of how they work in the game would not work correctly in real life and still be able to be accurate
