  • Did he die in that position?

  • its in ripley's believe it or not 2011 edition.

  • there is another Buddhist mummy too, its in Siberia, Russia I heard

  • such disrespect

  • Tonight matthew im going to be Ray Charles..........

  • quickly hide the mummy before the black Afro centrists will start to spread ideology about the mummy of "black Thailand Koh Samui"

  • Skeletons are sometimes displayed in Thai temples for reflection and meditation on the impermanent nature of our lives.

  • You don't have to whisper, dude. It isn't like you're going to wake him up or anything...

  • Is the guy in the video gay?

  • This is wat khunaram.

  • Yes! View at your own risk! Don't watch it if you can't stand well preserved bodies!

  • Why would a dead body NOT decay or decompose? What purpose does it serve? I don't understand this; is it even really a person? Is this true? What is the truth behind it? I am only asking because I have never seen, or heard, anything like this before, and would like to know more about it. Much appreciated; thanks.

  • @dustymiller65 All bodies will decay eventually over time, but depending on environmental factors, the decomposition process can be slowed tremendously.

  • @PhysStud2006 Ah, yes...they did say that they "pickled" him. Now I get it . I thought that there might have been some other magical (spritual) reason for this too. Of course, it's hard to imagine someone just sitting down and dying like that on purpose. It's a bit weird. Thanks for you info.

  • @dustymiller65 Yah I'm pretty sure that this monk was embalmed. However, in some cases, intense heat can cause a body to mummify even without embalming procedures. There have been cases where individuals have died in their homes, only to be discovered several months or years later in a mummified but somewhat well preserved state. Check out the "franklin expedition mummies" here on YouTube. They are amazingly well-preserved but quite disturbing to view as well so view at your own risk;)

  • Hope people here are not too stupid to understand the word "respect"

  • I farted with my vagina and I came

  • he just left his life out from his body in meditation evenone will die in oneday don't fear it live with it :)

  • That mummy is such a badass.

  • "Luang Pho Daeng (also Loung Por Daeng and Loung Pordaeng) was a Thai Buddhist monk who died while meditating during the mid-1980s.[1][2] His body, which has not decomposed, but remains in a mummified state, is on display at the Wat Khun Aram temple on Ko Samui island in Thailand's Surat Thani Province."

  • He he, you saw my good old buddy ;-)

I visit him every time when I´m in holiday at Koh Samui. Nice!

  • Did he believed in GOD,No? So who gave him Holy title? we did.A person that doesnt believed in GOD is Holy?

  • "'The Futures So Bright....I Got To Shades!!!'......oh no wait...I guess my future is just decomposing in a glass box....."

Seriously though.....Was he really mummified with the shades on? Or did the local Monks win a spot on MTV's new show 'Pimp my Mummy'?

  • @frankensteinmoneymac

Hahahahahahha Funnny! yeah he was really mummified like that i guess the shades were an added bonus. what would have been funny is if they were d and g's or pradas lol

  • @frankensteinmoneymac and everyone who watch this vid. As I'm Thai and also Buddhism. Let me tell you this "All Buddhism through out this world can't stand with your joke. It's rude!

We are highly respect to our monks and the Lord Buddha. As they are our great teacher and a great decent person of the world.

If you are a citizen of any civilize country, plese behave like one.

People with normal sense of manner can understand the whole thing with out me saying any.

  • @SolKiLittleSun That's actually quite sad that you can't find lighthearted humor to be a positive thing. All the Buddhist Monks that I've known (and believe it or not, there have been quite a few) have always been open to humor of all kinds, and would never hold on to anger over such a silly joke. If you are engaging in such judgmental perceptions over such a lighthearted joke then I dare say, that perhaps you are not very far along in your path towards enlightenment. Peace, to you my friend.

  • Thai inhabitants are angry of guys like you.

Holy things like a mummified monk have to be respected, not to be filmed by everyone...

  • @OschiOnDrums then put a sign saying don't film... I was giving Respect as well.

  • OMG Ray-ban suns!

  • Week end at Monks .. : )

  • Why are we whispering ! ?

  • been there :'D

  • the sunglasses are a nice touch, nice job!

  • Everywhere where Buddhism produced great masters you'll see these kinds of mummified monks who passed away in meditation. They have achieved great achievement and the left their body in this state to give teaching to future generations. They can be found in China, Tibet, and Japan as well.

  • wow amazing

  • For some reason, I can also picture him with a spray paint can in one hand and "ELVIS LIVES" spray painted behind him...

  • OMG!!! That's genius. I want to be buried with my RayBan sunglasses on!!

  • O good thing they covered up the eyes if they didn't I would shocked myself.

  • is that shades? yeah!

  • @joey143anna YUP! I couldn't believe it my self. when i saw it but alot of people are telling me now hes ears fell off and he has no more shades.... guess i got it at the last min. enjoy and subscribe to Kareem tv thanks.

  • the camera guy is soooo gay!

  • There are a number of mummified monks in Japan that are similarly displayed. The monks in Japan actually mummified themselves. There is a new book on the subject called "Living Buddhas: The Self-Mummified Monks of Yamagata, Japan" (McFarland, 2010), by Ken Jeremiah. Check it out...it's interesting...

  • @miirabutsu WOW didnt know that and i spent 2 months in ropungy.

  • @miirabutsu How does one go about mummifying oneself? Or do you mean that after they died, the other Monks mummified them? The book does say 'Self-Mummified' which leads me to think the first option is true.....none the less I am pretty curious as to how one could possibly accomplish such a trick! A special diet perhaps?

  • We were there last week and he had no sunglasses but there were other "things" in the way, which reflected the light. So we only could see his head and a bit of his torso. O.o

  • @Dhandriffa WOW....... so much change in like 2 years thanks dude

  • @Dhandriffa lol. He took his sunglasses down probably xD

  • @3eyeandy WOW i never knew this thanks for the information. Don't forget to subscribe to Kareem Tv thanks. when i saw it but alot of people are telling me now hes ears fell off and he has no more shades.... guess i got it at the last min. enjoy and subscribe to Kareem tv thanks.

  • @3eyeandy The reason why the hair and nails grow after death is that the skin shrinks and flesh shrinks, because water is drained away and the tissue dries up. The hair and nails appear longer then. That's why some corpses are suspected to be vampires because they keep growing after death.

  • i agree its cool that you respected that he probly died in that position thats how you can tell his very sacred

  • Perhaps he attained Arhantship and passed away.

  • It's cool that you respected that! Metta!

  • Having traveling around the world, I found that there are many Buddhist Monks have very different excited miracles!
