Any breed of dog can have this issue. It wasn't about the puppies at all it is food aggression. I had a cocker spanel who did the very same thing, no matter what or who was around when she ate she would snap like that. So clearly it is not because this dog is a pitbull that she is like that.

Mia barked (and growled) at her pup because she prevented it from eating the rawhide chew, if the puppy tried to eat it, the pup would choke. Mia is doing a great job.

they are precious. Mom did a perfect job with the put. She is the boss. Its not food agression you idiot. She has to protect her food supply or she will starve to death or quit lactating and then who will take care of the babies

What the mother dog did to the puppy is clearly Food aggression... You should have corrected her the moment she growled at the puppy... This could be really dangerous and this can really hurt the puppies because they will unknowlingly go near her while she is eating and they might get injured. There are exercies you can do to get rid of food agression in dogs.

I don't like the docking of Pit bull ears I think it feeds into the publics fear of them and doesn't do anything for the appearence of the dog. However, those pups are adorable, I love that little dark male.

@Ilovesimsqq She didnt bite the puppy, she just gave it a warning, if you know anything about canines you should know it's natural and how they let the others know who's boss...she's the mother, head of the pack so she feeds her pack and what's hers is hers...the snapping is just to tell them don't touch what is mines cause you'll get what's yours and in this case...her nipples were already gotten

@TightsOfMan I'm pretty sure it wasn't a 'this is dangerous for you to eat' but rather a 'this is MY food, young one, don't you try and think you can get your way'.

It's pretty important for pups to learn doggy behaviours and manners from their mums right up until 8 weeks so I'm assuming (although I am not a breeder and not an expert by any means) that behaviour like that is healthy and normal. And I'm also assuming that would wouldn't actually ever 'hurt' her own pups..just scare them?
